Gyokeres decides on £11m-a-year contract offer amid Arsenal and Man Utd battle

Viktor Gyokeres has his heart set on a move to Arsenal and has rejected a huge £11m-per-year contract offer from Serie A side Juventus, according to reports from Italy Viktor Gyokeres has reportedly decided to reject a lucrative contract offer from Juventus, with the striker preferring a move to Arsenal. Gyokeres is one of the most in-demand footballers in Europe right now, having fired Sporting Lisbon to the double last season. The 27-year-old scored 54 goals in 52 appearances across all competitions as Sporting won the Primeira Liga and Taca de Portugal. Arsenal, Manchester United and Juventus have all been heavily linked with Gyokeres, but it appears the player has his heart set on a move to the Emirates. ‌ It emerged earlier this month that Juventus were ready to offer Gyokeres a stunning £11m-per-year deal to try and persuade him to snub a Premier League move in favour of a switch to Serie A. ‌ However, Corriere dello Sport are now reporting that Juventus have been informed that Gyokeres only wants to join Arsenal this summer. The news comes amid a public spat between Gyokeres' agent and Sporting over a supposed 'gentleman's agreement'. Gyokeres has an £85million release clause, but his agent has claimed he reached an agreement with the club last season that they would accept bids in the region of £60m. However, Sporting president Frederico Varandas has insisted that is not the case. "One thing you should already know is me better," said Varandas, per Record. "Threats, blackmail and insults don't work with me. I can guarantee that Viktor Gyokeres will not leave for €60m+10m (£51m+£8.5m) because I never promised him that. "This game that the agent is playing only makes the situation worse. To this day, Sporting has not had an offer for Viktor Gyokeres, neither today nor last season. I think it's fair to explain the whole process. "The process started last year when the season ended, Sporting were champions and had a fantastic season. During the transfer window we realised that Viktor was going to stay at Sporting because we didn't receive a single offer for him. ‌ "When the season started, the agent approached Hugo Viana several times, asking if we could add an extra fee to the contract if he scored 'x' goals; I gave Viana the opportunity to negotiate, within reason. "Viana manages the relationship with the agents, and very well, this is done by the sporting director. One of the agent's biggest concerns was whether we would demand the value of the €100m (£85m) clause next year. "Viana negotiated with the agents over several meetings, until the agent himself asked for the president's presence to settle the matter once and for all. The issue of the bonus for 'x' goals seemed reasonable and at that meeting, where the president, the agent and Viana were present, no player was present, Viktor was not present, the agent wanted to guarantee certain things."

Former Arsenal Coach Creates Serie A History! Becomes Youngest-Ever Coach In...

Last Updated: Parma appointed 29-year-old Carlos Cuesta, formerly an assistant at Arsenal, as the youngest head coach in Serie A history, replacing Cristian Chivu. Parma appointed 29-year-old Carlos Cuesta as the youngest head coach in Serie A history on Thursday, replacing Cristian Chivu. 'Parma Calcio are delighted to announce that, as of 1 July, Carlos Cuesta will become manager of the Men's First Team," the club stated on their website, adding that the coach had signed a two-year contract. Cuesta is not only the youngest manager ever in the Italian league but also three years younger than any other manager set to be in charge of a top-five league club for the 2025/26 season. Parma have officially appointed former Arsenal coach Carlos Cuesta as their new manager and he becomes the youngest boss in the top-five leagues at 29 😯🔥🇪🇸 — (@TMuk_news) June 19, 2025 Cuesta comes from Arsenal, where he has served as an assistant to Mikel Arteta since 2000. Before that, he spent two years in Italy coaching Juventus' youth teams. Widely regarded as one of the best young coaches, Cuesta has been instrumental in Arsenal's progress under Arteta. Last season, Cuesta was heavily linked with Norwich and attracted interest from several Championship clubs and beyond. Now, he joins a struggling Parma side in need of a fresh start. Parma returned to Serie A and were languishing in 18th place when Chivu was appointed in February, following seven years coaching Inter Milan's youth teams. Chivu departed after the season to take over at Inter, where he also played for six seasons. Cuesta was reportedly preferred over Italian candidates Daniele De Rossi, Alberto Gilardino, and Paolo Vanoli. Although the Serie A season does not start until 23 August, Cuesta is the ninth new coach appointed this summer. Two of the 20 clubs still have unfilled vacancies. The Germany international is expected to begin his medical on Friday ahad of his £116million move. It marks a quick start to the transfer window by Arne Slot's side who have seen the addition of Jeremie Frimpong. The Reds have already said goodbye to Trent Alexander-Arnold and Caoimhin Kelleher to Real Madrid and Brentford respectively. ‌ And there is more to come as the Premier League champions move to sign Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth to strengthen their options at full-back. A new forward could be on the agenda too with Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike of interest. ‌ There could be more exits too. Andy Robertson, Jarell Quansah and Federico Chiesa all have uncertain futures at Anfield. Mirror Football takes a look at some of the latest Liverpool transfer news and rumours. Liverpool enter talks Liverpool are ready to rival Chelsea for Malick Fofana, as Lyon demand £43m for his exit. Fofana, 20, is said to favour a move to Merseyside. According to L'Equipe, Chelsea have opened talks over a move but Liverpool have made contact with the player's new agents, after he joined Roc Nation. Manchester United are also claimed to have a strong interest in the player. Earlier in the year, Fofana's then agent Bobo Fofana hinted Anfield could lie in the youngster's future. "The choice of heart would be Liverpool," he said earlier this year. ‌ "He has the potential to enter the rotation, and above all, we would like to see him succeed African legends such as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané, and El-hadji Diouf." Darwin approves transfer Darwin Nunez has given his approval on a move to Napoli, according to reports in Italy. Sky Sport Italy claim the Serie A champions Napoli have started talks to sign Nunez and the Uruguay international, 25, has 'already given the ok'. Chiesa message New Italy boss Gennaro Gattuso has revealed Federico Chiesa must find more playing time to feature in his squads going forward. The former AC Milan midfielder and manager was speaking at his unveiling having replaced Luciano Spalletti. ‌ 'In these days, I called 35 players [who did not make the squad], I spoke to everyone,' he said. 'Even Chiesa, whom I told to play consistently. "There are players who have been out but who can lend a hand. The pitch speaks: if you do things well, the doors of the national team are open."
