'Guitar Man': Everything We Know About The Late Kim Saeron's Upcoming Posthumous Film

Earlier this year, the Korean entertainment industry was shaken by the tragic news of actress Kim Saeron (김새론) 's death at just 24 years old. The tragedy was soon followed by a major controversy involving actor Kim Soohyun, who was alleged to have dated the actress when she was underage. Since then, Saeron's family and Kim Soohyun's agency have been locked in an ongoing legal dispute, issuing a series of statements in response to one another.
Although the actress had not been active for some time prior to her death, she had been planning a comeback and had completed work on two films, one of which, 'Guitar Man', will mark her first posthumous release. Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming film:
1. The film will premiere on 31st May
According to several reports, a press screening of 'Guitar Man' was held on 21st May (Wednesday), three months after Kim Saeron's passing. The official release is scheduled for later this month, on 31st May. 'Guitar Man' is a musical story about a genius guitarist's loss, love, and journey as he seeks hope through music amid harsh realities.
2. Kim Saeron was almost not cast for the film
Due to unresolved matters, director Lee Seon-jeong, who is also the star of the film, was advised not to cast Kim Saeron, as it could have potentially led to the film never being released. However, during a press conference, Seon-jeong recalled the moment he met up with the actress who showed passion and enthusiasm for the project. 'She came prepared, having thoroughly reviewed the script, saying she wanted to suggest changes, asking when we could practice together. I thought it was so great,' he said.
3. Kim Saeron was supposed to sing a song in the film
Lee Seon-jeong revealed that they originally planned to have Kim Saeron, who plays a keyboardist named Yujin, sing a song titled 'Dugeundugeun' during a band performance scene. 'Originally, we planned for her to sing together, and we even rehearsed the vocals. I feel saddened that we couldn't get to that point together,' he told reporters.
4. The theme song 'The World Without Pain' has already been released
In support of the musical film, the song 'The World Without Pain' was released in late April. The accompanying music video features scenes from the upcoming film, with Kim Saeron appearing in most of them. This also marks the actress's first posthumous appearance in a music video.
5. All profits from the 'Guitar Man' OST will be donated
In a heartwarming gesture and tribute to the late actress, all profits from the 'Guitar Man' OST will be donated to the Korean Life Respect Hope Centre. This charitable contribution underscores the film's commitment to spreading kindness and supporting those in need, while also reflecting the themes of love woven throughout the narrative.

In the statement, the label revealed that Ju Haknyeon was involved in a controversial incident. After discussing with other group members, One Hundred terminated the idol's contract. Later, reports emerged that the 26-year-old was under suspicion for soliciting prostitution following a meeting with former Japanese adult actress Asuka Kirara (明日花キララ). According to news outlets, the pair and a few acquaintances met at a bar in Tokyo on 30th May 2025. After drinking for hours, Ju Haknyeon gave Asuka a sum of money, triggering suspicion that he had paid her for sex. Under South Korean law, any Korean national who engages in prostitution, whether in the country or abroad, can be subject to a fine or up to one year in prison. News outlets also reported that One Hundred found circumstantial evidence of the incident. After the label presented him with damning evidence, Ju Haknyeon admitted to the accusations and agreed to leave the group and his label due to the possible legal consequences. However, Ju Haknyeon took to his Instagram account to deny the allegations. In his handwritten letter, the singer apologised for the turmoil and admitted to meeting with Asuka. However, he denied participating in illegal actions or prostitution. Ju Haknyeon didn't clarify the matter. Instead, he ended the letter by saying he would reflect on his actions. The issues evoked mixed reactions from fans and netizens. While some condemned the idol for possibly soliciting prostitution, others were confident that he was innocent. Meanwhile, the other members of THE BOYZ have since unfollowed Ju Haknyeon on their personal social media pages. The boy group has written individual messages, apologising for the scandal and assured fans about their future activities. If the allegations are true, Ju Haknyeon will have to face the consequences of his actions. However, if he never engaged in any illegal act, we hope he can clear his name. Girl Group IHOTEU Disbands Following Member Mina's Affair With Agency CEO

Pop groups can disband for many reasons, like financial issues or lack of popularity. However, Korean girl group IHOTEU (이호테우) recently ended activities after one of its members was exposed for having an affair with the company's CEO. Earlier this week, TenAsia released a bombshell expose about JDB Entertainment CEO Lee Kang Hee. According to the report, the label executive, who is married with two children, was allegedly having an extramarital affair with a girl group member under his subsidiary company, EFG Music. Sources say the two would frequently meet alone after official schedules, and photos showed them hugging and holding hands. Given the information provided by the report, the girl group member was revealed to be IHOTEU member Mina. IHOTEU is a live idol trio composed of members Mina, Negi and Amu. The trio debuted in 2024 but is known for performing in small live houses. Following the reports of Mina's affair with Lee Kang Hee, the group announced that she would immediately halt her activities. However, shortly after, the group shockingly announced their disbandment. In the follow-up statement, IHOTEU said all three members have mutually agreed to terminate their contracts with their agency. EFG Music said they decided to disband the group after considering the members' artistic direction and emotional well-being. However, the company will continue to support Negi and Amu's activities as long as it aligns with prior agreements. At the same time, Lee Kang Hee confirmed his affair with Mina and reportedly stepped down from his position as EFG Music's CEO. Internal staff are currently overseeing operations following his departure. However, all future decisions, including whether to continue to operate the label, will be determined after internal discussions and legal consultations. EFG Music also announced the disbandment of another group under their label, HIJK. It's unfortunate that EFG Music and IHOTEU's future was compromised by an affair.
