'Guitar Man': Everything We Know About The Late Kim Saeron's Upcoming Posthumous Film

Earlier this year, the Korean entertainment industry was shaken by the tragic news of actress Kim Saeron (김새론) 's death at just 24 years old. The tragedy was soon followed by a major controversy involving actor Kim Soohyun, who was alleged to have dated the actress when she was underage. Since then, Saeron's family and Kim Soohyun's agency have been locked in an ongoing legal dispute, issuing a series of statements in response to one another. Although the actress had not been active for some time prior to her death, she had been planning a comeback and had completed work on two films, one of which, 'Guitar Man', will mark her first posthumous release. Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming film: 1. The film will premiere on 31st May According to several reports, a press screening of 'Guitar Man' was held on 21st May (Wednesday), three months after Kim Saeron's passing. The official release is scheduled for later this month, on 31st May. 'Guitar Man' is a musical story about a genius guitarist's loss, love, and journey as he seeks hope through music amid harsh realities. 2. Kim Saeron was almost not cast for the film Due to unresolved matters, director Lee Seon-jeong, who is also the star of the film, was advised not to cast Kim Saeron, as it could have potentially led to the film never being released. However, during a press conference, Seon-jeong recalled the moment he met up with the actress who showed passion and enthusiasm for the project. 'She came prepared, having thoroughly reviewed the script, saying she wanted to suggest changes, asking when we could practice together. I thought it was so great,' he said. 3. Kim Saeron was supposed to sing a song in the film Lee Seon-jeong revealed that they originally planned to have Kim Saeron, who plays a keyboardist named Yujin, sing a song titled 'Dugeundugeun' during a band performance scene. 'Originally, we planned for her to sing together, and we even rehearsed the vocals. I feel saddened that we couldn't get to that point together,' he told reporters. 4. The theme song 'The World Without Pain' has already been released In support of the musical film, the song 'The World Without Pain' was released in late April. The accompanying music video features scenes from the upcoming film, with Kim Saeron appearing in most of them. This also marks the actress's first posthumous appearance in a music video. 5. All profits from the 'Guitar Man' OST will be donated In a heartwarming gesture and tribute to the late actress, all profits from the 'Guitar Man' OST will be donated to the Korean Life Respect Hope Centre. This charitable contribution underscores the film's commitment to spreading kindness and supporting those in need, while also reflecting the themes of love woven throughout the narrative. In light of more damning accusations made by Kim Saeron's family yesterday (7th May 2025) at the press conference involving the family's legal representative and YouTuber Kim Seui of Garo Sero Institute, Kim Soohyun's agency, has issued an official statement in regards to the accusations. On the same day of the press conference, GOLDMEDALIST rebuked all accusations made towards actor Kim Soohyun (김수현), stating 3 main points of argument, where they point out that the accusations made with proof were fabricated to defame him. Here are the highlights of the statement: GOLDMEDALIST's Position On The Audio Recording Claimed By HoverLab GOLDMEDALIST claims that the obtained audio recording of Kim Saeron (김새론) was fabricated using AI or similar technology. The statement also states that the audio provider who had given the recording to HoverLab had also approached them, demanding money, with an audio recording of the late actress making favourable comments towards Kim Soohyun. The agency also states that the perpetrator is not someone who could have had any contact with Kim Saeron, and investigations are well underway or the legitimacy of the recording. Their Stance On The Alleged 'Attack Photo' Mentioned By HoverLab GOLDMEDALIST rebukes the so-called 'attack photo' claimed by HoverLab and has presented that the photo can be easily found with a quick search on the internet. They claim that the attack is baseless and is completely unreasonable from a common-sense perspective. GOLDMEDALIST's Plan Response Towards HoverLab GOLDMEDALIST stands with their resolve that HoverLab has inflicted serious cyber attacks on Kim Soohyun. They have pointed out HoverLab's crimes of defamation, cyber sex crimes and evidence tampering. Moving forward, GOLDMEDALIST will immediately file criminal complaints and charges against HoverLab for violations of the 'Stalking Punishment Act' and the 'Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilisation and Information Protection' (Defamation). While investigation are underway, Kim Soohyun's agency have stated that they will work closely with authorities to ensure justice is served. What do you think about GOLDMEDALIST's stance on the case? Actor Kim Soohyun Sued For RM8mil By Advertisers Over Recent Controversies

After causing damage to brands and companies' image with his recent scandal, Korean actor Kim Soohyun (김수현) was hit with his first lawsuit from an advertiser. Not only that, but more companies might soon follow suit. According to reports, two companies, A and B, had recently filed lawsuits against Kim Soohyun and his agency, Gold Medalist. The two companies had advertising contracts with the star and are now seeking the return of modelling fees and damages. While the exact amount is unknown, the combined amount that A and B are seeking as compensation reportedly exceeds KRW 3 billion (approximately RM8.6 million). More advertisers are also expected to join the legal battle against the actor. Another company, C, is considering filing a lawsuit against Kim Soohyun, citing breach of trust as the grounds for terminating their advertising contract. The company is seeking either the return of modelling fees or penalties. Before his scandal, the 'Queen of Tears' actor was reportedly one of South Korea's highest-paid actors and advertising models. A South Korean lawyer explained the situation, saying, 'Kim Soohyun has signed advertising model contracts with 15 brands, each valued between KRW 1 billion (approximately RM2.9 million) and KRW 1.2 billion (approximately RM3.6 million). Usually, companies are reluctant to make it known that they were the first to file a lawsuit against a model. However, once one company files a lawsuit, more will join.' There were previous allegations that the actor would face lawsuits for breaching contracts with his recent controversies. However, this is the first instance of an advertising company directly suing Kim Soohyun and his company. There's no telling how much the actor will be sued for. However, based on the figures, the total amount involved in the entire lawsuit could exceed KRW 10 billion (approximately RM30.1 million). We're sure these companies have their reason for taking Kim Soohyun to court. What are your thoughts on this? Source: YTN

Kim Soohyun Facing RM553 Mil Penalty Fee For Delaying Drama Release With Recent Scandal

Things are only getting worse for Kim Soohyun (김수현). Recent reports suggest that the controversial actor may face a hefty fine from Disney+ Korea for putting one of its most expensive projects on hold. To recap, Kim Soohyun is facing heavy backlash from the public because of his alleged relationship with late actress Kim Saeron (김새론). The actress' aunt also suggested that the actor had caused Kim Saeron emotional distress, driving her to take her own life. Since the allegations broke out, the actor has been in the news for his attempts to defend himself and his image. Recently, new outlets reported about Disney+ Korea's 'Knock-Off (넉오프)', which is now on hold because of Kim Soohyun's scandal. The project stars the actor and Jo Boah (조보아) and was already in production. It's one of the streaming service's most expensive projects, with a production budget of KRW 60 billion (approximately RM184 million). The actor's salary for the project also reportedly reached a whopping KRW 9 billion (approximately RM27 million). As such, the delayed production means Kim Soohyun is now facing a hefty fine for breach of contract. The exact penalty is still in discussion, but industry experts speculate that the fine could be as high as KRW 180 billion (approximately RM553 million), roughly three times the show's budget. The speculated fee is based on the cost of production and the potential loss the drama faces if the project needs a recast, or worse, gets shelved. Unfortunately, the actor also faces more breach of contract penalties because of his scandal. There were previously reports that Kim Soohyun was also facing a KRW 20 billion (approximately RM60 million) penalty fee for breaching the contract of his brand endorsements. After his scandal broke out, the actor was dropped from all his endorsements, including with brands like Cuckoo, Jo Malone and Prada. Since Kim Soohyun's scandal remains unresolved, there's no telling what will happen to 'Knock-Off'. For now, the production team can only wait to see how the actor's legal matters unfold – but what are your thoughts on this? Source: Koreaboo
