Dubai: Dubai Police has unveiled a new addition to its tourist patrol fleet – a majestic Rolls-Royce that is turning heads and stealing the spotlight at the Arabian Travel Market 2025.
Known for its opulence, the Rolls-Royce takes on a new role of being an ambassador of Dubai's world-class tourism and safety services. With a price tag ranging from Dh2 million to Dh3 million, it is the most expensive luxury vehicle in Dubai Police's awe-inspiring arsenal of supercars, which already includes icons like the Tesla Cybertruck, Lamborghini, and Ferrari.
'This will be the most expensive vehicle in our tourist patrol fleet. You will find this Rolls-Royce on the streets of popular tourist sites across the city like Dubai Frame, Dubai Mall, museums, and heritage sites,' a police officer told Gulf News.
Since being displayed at the event, the car has attracted curious visitors who have been taking selfies and recording videos. But the Rolls-Royce is more than just a showstopper – it's a strategic addition aimed at engaging with tourists both in the city and abroad.
'This car is not just staying in Dubai. We will even take it outside the country. Tourists can take photos with it. It's about making our services more accessible.'
By making appearances at iconic landmarks, the luxury patrol fleet enhances Dubai's image as a premier destination and helps educate visitors about the various police services available to them.

Dubai Police rescue driver 'in minutes' after cruise control malfunctions on Sheikh Zayed Road
Dubai Police traffic patrols swiftly rescued a driver whose cruise control had unexpectedly malfunctioned on Sheikh Zayed Road, authorities said on Saturday. '(Our) operations room received a report about a vehicle travelling at a constant speed on Sheikh Zayed Road towards Abu Dhabi, with the female driver unable to regain control due to the cruise control malfunction,' said Maj Gen Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police. 'Just minutes after receiving the report, the traffic patrols were immediately dispatched to the location and spotted the vehicle traveling in the fourth lane. 'They coordinated a careful escort while guiding the female driver through phone calls and direct instructions, informing her of the necessary steps to take in such situations to ensure her safety and that of others,' he added. How they did it Al Mazrouei explained one of the patrols positioned itself in front of the vehicle, gradually stopping it, while the other patrols secured the lane behind it. The patrols created a safe corridor in front of and behind the vehicle, keeping other cars at a distance to prevent any potential collisions, which allowed for a safe stop on the side of the road without any injuries or damage. Al Mazrouei said the swift response and effective coordination between the operations room and field patrols were vital for successfully managing the situation. He praised the traffic teams for their professional and compassionate handling of emergencies, demonstrating Dubai Police's commitment to rapid responses and road safety. He also urged all drivers to perform regular vehicle checks and ensure the safety of critical systems, such as brakes and cruise control, emphasising that awareness and preventive measures are essential to prevent dangerous malfunctions.

Ferrari likely to delay its second EV model due to weak market demand
In yet another sign of compounding trouble for the near future of electric vehicles, Ferrari has reportedly delayed plans for its second fully electric model to at least 2028. The second EV of the Italian supercar manufacturer was earlier scheduled to hit the markets in 2026. Reuters, quoting two sources close to the matter, said this was because of a lack of demand for high-performance luxury EVs. Ferrari is expected to unveil its first fully electric car later this year in October, with deliveries starting October 2026. In a post-earnings call last month, Chief Executive Benedetto Vigna had said Ferrari would only show the 'technological heart' of its EV in October, as part of a three-stage unveiling process culminating with its world premiere in the spring of 2026. Ferrari delays second EV One of the sources told Reuters that real, sustainable demand is non-existent for an electric sports car. The source added that most automakers have struggled to overcome the fact that EV batteries are far too heavy, which tends to impede speed, and lack the sustained power of a fossil-fuel engine. Some of the petrol and hybrid Ferrari models, which are known for their powerful engines that produce an iconic roaring sound when accelerated, have waiting periods of nearly five to seven years. Ferrari declined to comment on the development when approached by Reuters. The company is expected to present its new long-term business plan to investors on October 9. In December last year, Ferrari's Italian rival Lamborghini also delayed the launch of its first electric model by one year to 2029. Germany's Porsche also cut back its plans for EVs amid soft sales of its electric Macan SUV and Taycan models. And earlier this year, Maserati, the luxury brand of Stellantis, cancelled plans for an electric version of its MC20 sports car. Tesla, which has long been the bellweather for electric vehicles, has seen a massive decline in sales, partly due to competition from Chinese manufacturers, and also the growing dissent against founder Elon Musk. Ferrari's first EV is co-designed by former chief designer of Apple, Jony Ive, who has since joined OpenAI after a takeover of his company io by the ChatGPT owners. However, Ive has said he will continue to work with Ferrari.
