Indiana Fever climb in WNBA Power Rankings as Caitlin Clark readies for return
The WNBA, the Indiana Fever, and their fans are eager for any news regarding Caitlin Clark, as she is on the cusp of returning to action after suffering a quad injury. While she is close, the Fever are continuing to be cautious with Caitlin Clark, as she has not yet returned to action.
The decision to hold Clark out seems to be to get her conditioning up to par, as it is still early in the season. Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White elaborated on the decision.

"No. I think for us, we've got to work both her and Sophie back into are they in basketball condition? What does it mean to go live? It's one thing to do some shooting drills. It's another thing to get out there on the floor, get back into movement patterns, rhythm, timing," White said.
Even with Clark's absence, the Indiana Fever steadied the ship after some rocky times following Clark's departure from the lineup. After dropping three straight in late May, the Fever bounced back and have won their last two games. Those wins have them once again climbing in the CBS Sports WNBA Power Rankings as they currently sit at No. 4.
4. Fever
The story in Indianapolis this week was Aari McDonald, whom signed with the Fever on an emergency hardship exception contract. She helped stabilize things while Caitlin Clark remained sidelined, and the Fever have now won two games in a row to get back to .500. McDonald showed she deserves a spot in the league, but she'll have to be released when Clark or Sophie Cunningham returns from injury. Will the Fever figure out some way to bring her back afterward? Or will another team sign her up long-term? - Jack Maloney, CBS Sports
Aari McDonald has proven to be a catalyst for the Fever. In her two games, she has played at least 25 minutes. She has had stat lines of 7 points, 5 assists, and 3 steals against Washington and followed that up with 12 points, 3 steals, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists in the dominant win over the Chicago Sky.
If the Indiana Fever can find a way for her to stick around on the roster, their depth receives an instant boost that could handle any further injuries while also taking some minutes away from the starters to prolong them ahead of the playoffs.

Where does the Iowa football 2026 recruiting class rank after Cash Herrera's decommitment?
Following the decommitment of three-star quarterback Cash Herrera, Iowa football's 2026 recruiting class currently consists of nine players. Depending on the site, Iowa has anywhere from one to three four-star prospects, with the rest of the class regarded as three-star commits. The Hawks have focused heavily in the trenches, with six of the nine commits in the class being either an offensive or defensive lineman. Certainly Kirk Ferentz and recruiting director Tyler Barnes are high on this class, but what do national recruiting sites think? Site are mixed on Iowa football's 2026 recruiting class Iowa's 2026 class has an aggregate ranking of 47th across 247Sports, On3 and Rivals. ESPN released their top 25 recruiting classes for 2026 and Iowa was not featured among the 25 teams or in the honorable mentions. Here's where each individual site currently ranks Iowa football's 2026 recruiting class: What's next for the 2026 class? While the national rankings don't look great, it's important to note that it's still early in the process. At this time last year, Iowa's 2025 class had only eight commits. The Hawkeyes finished with 16 signees and the country's 42nd-ranked class according to the averaging ranking from those three sites. Iowa's eight commits are tied for the fourth-fewest in the Big Ten. Only Michigan, Oregon, Maryland and Nebraska have fewer commits at this time. As the Hawks add more commits, their national and conference rankings will continue to rise. Iowa is hosting a number of key visitors this weekend, including uncommitted targets CJ Hester, Julian Manson, Kasen Thomas, Darion Jones and Mason Lewis. There's also the transfer portal, which Iowa will be able to hit after the 2025 season. The Hawkeyes are bringing in nine transfers this season and will continue to look to the portal going forward. With upcoming visit days, the 2025 season and the transfer portal to follow, Iowa's 2026 recruiting class should start to climb the rankings soon. Texas A&M is currently hosting 10 2026 prospects, including multiple five-stars
Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko is coming off two consecutive weekends hosting 33 elite prospects from the 2026 recruiting class. Since last Saturday, the Aggies landed four commitments in the cycle: Three-star QB/ATH Kaeden Johnson, four-star OT Samuel Roseborough, four-star RB KJ Edwards, and five-star ATH/CB Brandon Arrington. Arrington's commitment on Thursday afternoon marked a significant milestone for Elko and defensive back coach Jordan Peterson, who was the primary recruiter for what many consider to be the top athlete in the class, and by far the best prospect from California. Arrington is the first five-star commit for the Aggies and is currently taking an official visit to College Station this weekend. Arrington joined nine other 2026 prospects, including fellow five-stars, and four Texas A&M commits. This is a big weekend for Elko and his staff, as two key visitors are set to announce their decisions next week: five-star edge Tristian Givens and four-star offensive lineman Drew Evers.
