Ohio State football set for massive recruiting weekend. Here's all 17 players attending.

USA Today3 days ago

The Ohio State football program has welcomed several prospects to its camps over the last few weeks, and this weekend is the last official visit weekend for the Buckeyes. In total, there are a whopping 17 prep players being hosted by the OSU staff, so it's time to pull out all of the stops. Ohio State has had a few players announce their verbal pledges after going on an official visit over the last few weeks, and I wouldn't put it wouldn't be surprising at all if there were some more news coming out of this one as well.
We know you are interested in exactly who is coming to the banks of the Olentangy, so we have the complete 17-player list for you. All but one of the 17 have received an offer from the Scarlet and Gray, and you can bet the players are checking things out just as much as the Ohio State staff is, at least all but the seven that are already verbally committed (notated below).
Here's a look at all of the players -- and their 247Sports profiles -- expected to be on campus this weekend as the Buckeyes put a wrap on official visit season. We might be hearing some BOOM!s after this weekend to add to the 2026 class that is already one of the very best in the country.
We'll keep an eye to the sky and ear to the ground to see what news and rumblings come out of this massive recruiting weekend, so don't stray to far away from Buckeyes Wire.

Spartans target 3-star CB Jaxson Gates decommits from Syracuse, reopens recruitment

After careful consideration my family and I feel it is best Ireopen my recruitment and de commit from the University of Syracuse. Thank you Coach Brown and everyone on the Syracuse coaching staff for the overwhelming support and truly believing in me thought this process! A Michigan State cornerback target in the 2026 class reopened his recruitment on Monday morning. Jaxson Gates of Le Verne, Calif. announced on Monday that he is decommitting from Syracuse and will reopen his recruitment. Gates had been committed to Syracuse since last November, but had been taking official visits during the summer and exploring other options. Gates is a three-star prospect with a recruiting rating of 88 on 247Sports. He ranks as the No. 48 cornerback and No. 50 player from California in 247Sports' rankings for the 2026 class. Gates took an official visit to Michigan State a few weeks ago, and has also visited Utah and BYU in June. His most recent official visit was with the BYU Cougars this past weekend, so that could be telling on where his mind is at in the recruiting process and where he may be committing to next. But, regardless, this is good news for Michigan State should they still be pursuing Gates' commitment. Stay with Spartans Wire for additional coverage and updates on Gates' recruitment and where he lands now that he is officially back on the recruiting market. How does Auburn's offensive line stack up with the best in the nation?

How does the former Alabama quarterback compare Auburn's offensive line to the best in the nation? Auburn's offensive line returns plenty of experienced pieces and will be viewed as a strength this season. The likes of Connor Lew, Jeremiah Wright, Dillon Wade, and Izavion Miller bring 2,798 snaps of experience to the Tigers' offensive line from last year, with each possessing an efficiency rating of 96.1 or higher. It is no wonder that Auburn's offensive line is viewed as one of the best in the nation. ESPN analyst and former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy recently included Auburn in his top-10 offensive line rankings, placing the Tigers' experienced unit at No. 8 above Clemson and Oregon, and one spot below Penn State. "A lot of this has to do with the fact that a lot of guys are back," McElroy said during a recent episode of Always College Football, where he and former Auburn lineman Cole Cubelic broke down the nation's best offensive line units. "I thought last year's group collectively at season's end was playing really good football." Lew, Wade, and Wright anchored the offensive line last season. However, Wade played over 100 snaps at three different positions last season before setting up shop as the Tigers' starting left tackle for the final six games of the season. McElroy feels that is when Auburn's line began to gel. "I think Dillon Wade and Connor Lew once those guys kind of settled into the spots they ended up settling in at, Lew at center in particular, that was a huge difference maker," McElroy said. "They finally figured out that left tackle was a huge spot throughout the first six, seven, eight games last year. They finally get one guy out, put another guy in, and everything seems to calm down." Mixing the returners, plus Xavier Chaplin and Mason Murphy from the transfer portal, will put Auburn into a great position to become one of the top units in the nation, and McElroy believes that their ceiling is higher heading into the season. With Auburn also boasting one of the nation's best wide receiver rooms and a new quarterback in Jackson Arnold, offensive line play will be crucial this season, and Auburn's room will be up for the challenge. Buffalo Bills superstar QB labels ex-UNC football star his 'favorite young QB'

When one of the greatest football players at a specific position speaks regarding his view of young talent at the same position, ears tend to listen. This is exactly what happened in a recent interview when Buffalo Bills superstar QB and NFL MVP called Drake Maye, "one of my favorite young quarterbacks in the league." Coming off of his first MVP season, Allen threw for 3,731 yards and 28 touchdowns with just six interceptions. The latter two of those three are both career highs for the seven-year veteran. Now, Allen has his sights set on a Lombari Trophy. However, this offseason, Allen gave high praise to one of the NFL's brightest young talents, who also happens to be a former Tar Heel. This interview was conducted with Liam McKeone of Sports Illustrated. Allen was responding to a question related to how former teammate Stefon Diggs can help develop Drake Maye and why is such a fan of the young quarterback. "I think he brings a lot of security for Drake. Obviously, having the knowledge of playing in the league for so long, he has that veteran mentorship that he can give to Drake. I think Drake is super talented, he's one of my favorite young quarterbacks in the league. I've spent some time around him and he's got his head on his shoulders the right way. He just does things the right way. I think that he exemplifies football. He'll take it and run, he'll throw it and to have someone like Stefon is going to help him out a lot." Heading into his sophomore season with the New England Patriots, Drake Maye is looking to build on the success of his rookie year. Last season, he threw for 2,276 yards and 15 touchdowns with 10 interceptions. He completed 66.6% of his passes while averaging just 6.7 yards per completion. The addition of superstar receiver Stefon Diggs and rookie Kyle Williams to the already budding Javon Baker and DeMario Douglas should help Maye expound on those numbers in year two.
