Police pull over 33 vehicles in Wednesbury and find 30 offences
A motorist was arrested on suspicion of drug driving during a police road safety crackdown in Wednesbury.
Yesterday's police operation saw 33 vehicles pulled over in the town and more than 30 traffic offenses reported.
One driver was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and using a vehicle in a dangerous condition.

Other traffic offences recorded included drivers having tinted windows, no licence, no insurance, not wearing a seatbelt, illegal tyres and using a mobile phone at the wheel.
Four vehicles were seized and six prohibited from being used on the roads.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We seized vehicles and made an arrest during a road safety operation in Wednesbury yesterday, June 18.
"Our teams carried out the targeted activity - along with partner agencies - on routes in and around the town centre.
"It led to 33 vehicles being pulled over, more than 30 traffic offences being reported, and one arrest on suspicion of drug driving and using a vehicle in a dangerous condition.
"The traffic offences included having tinted windows, no licence, no insurance, not wearing a seatbelt, illegal tyres and using a mobile phone at the wheel.
"There were four vehicles seized and six prohibited from being used on the roads.
"The multi-agency traffic operation involved our Road Harm Prevention Team, Wednesbury Neighbourhood Team, Sandwell Council Road Safety Team, Sandwell Council Waste Carrier Team, Sandwell Council Taxi Licensing Team and DVSA.
"We regularly conduct road operations working with communities and partners to create safer roads for everyone, and deterring criminals who abuse the road network.
"Your safety is our number one priority and we are committed to reducing the number of fatalities and serious injuries on our roads.
"It comes as the Safer6 campaign is running across the borough with partners working together to tackle crime, anti-social behaviour, and deal with other issues that matter to residents across the six towns."

A burnt container has been spotted from the street. A spokesperson said: "Police received a report of a fire at a premises on Engine Road in Loanhead around 11.50pm on Saturday, 21 June, 2025. 'Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. No-one was injured. 'The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing.' Police warn of possible dangerous drugs batch after death and cardiac arrests
The death of a man in the North East could be linked to a dangerous drugs batch, police have warned. Northumbria Police have launched an investigation into the death of a man in his 40s, who was found dead in the Harlow Green area of Gateshead on Friday. Officers believe his death and four cardiac arrests in the area since Thursday could be linked to the same drugs batch, but have said enquiries are at a very early stage. Man torched mum's home after raiding her fridge while she was away in Blackpool
A man fuelled by booze torched his own mum's house after he raided the fridge while she was in Blackpool. Liam Patrick Deeney climbed through a window of the house before he set fire to the property in what was described as an "extremely dangerous" incident. Detectives said his impulsive actions also put the properties neighbouring the house in danger too. On Sunday, May 21, 2023, Deeney broke into the house on Thornton Road, Tyldesley, Wigan, at around 11pm while his mum was away at the seaside resort. Greater Manchester Police said: "He entered the property through a back window and stole food and alcohol from the fridge before setting the address on fire." The investigation revealed Deeney, 30, ignited two separate fires - one in the bedroom wardrobes and another on an armchair in the living room, leading to the entire bungalow being engulfed in flames, Lancs Live reports. "The fire has caused damage to items of significance and memorabilia such as his mother's medals, clothing, jewellery, and old pictures of sentimental value," GMP added. Deeney, of Lever Street, Tyldesley, was arrested and charged. He later pleaded guilty to arson being reckless as to whether life was endangered. He was sentenced to three years, four months in prison at Bolton Crown Court last Thursday (June 12). In a statement issued following the hearing, Detective Constable Riyaz Patel: "Liam Deeney's actions were extremely dangerous and put neighbouring properties in danger. "He acted in an impulsive manner whilst under the influence of alcohol, destroying his mother's home and sentimental items belonging to her that meant so much to her. "I hope this sentence shows that GMP will pursue domestic violence perpetrators to keep victims safe and ensure justice is delivered." A restraining order prevents Deeney from contacting his mother for five years. He was also ordered to pay a surcharge of £228.
