David Harbour Admits He's Ready for ‘Stranger Things' to End: ‘How Much More Story Is There?'

David Harbour is ready to pull up the anchor on 'Stranger Things.' The actor, who plays Hopper in the beloved Netflix series, told Interview magazine that he is content that the show will end after five seasons and almost 10 years onscreen.
'When I started, I loved it so much,' Harbour said. 'Buddies of mine who'd done TV shows for many years said, 'By Season 3 or 4 you'll be running.' And I was like, 'Never! I love all these guys so much.' And then you get to a certain point where you're like, 'How much more story is there?''

He continued, 'You're having to play a lot of the same beat, and there's a feeling where you're like, 'I want to take a risk. I want to do something that people haven't seen me do before.' So yeah, after 10 years, it's like, 'OK.''
'Stranger Things' Season 5, Vol. 1 will be released Wednesday, November 26, with Vol. 2 debuting on Christmas Day. The series finale will debut on New Year's Eve.
Harbour previously said during the live 'Happy Sad Confused' podcast at Comic Con, via People, that the series finale is the 'best episode they've ever done,' adding, 'They land the plane.'
And according to the 'Thunderbolts' star, the 'Stranger Things' ensemble cast (which includes Millie Bobby Brown, Winona Ryder, Joe Keery, Sadie Sink, Finn Wolfhard, Joseph Quinn, and Maya Hawke) couldn't hold back their emotions during the table read for the last episode. 'The end of this [final] episode when we were reading it — just us reading it — about halfway through, people started crying,' Harbour said. 'Then about the last 20 minutes, it was just uncontrollably crying, waves of different people. Noah Schnapp being my favorite.'
Harbour added to the Comic Con audience, 'I think part of that also is the fact that these kids, it was their childhood. It's 10 years later, and we examine that idea, and it's so well done and so beautiful. It's such a great episode, and it's such a great season. You guys will love it.'

Set in a future where humanity has gone extinct, it follows an unexpected duo: a weather buoy (voiced by Stewart) that becomes self-aware after a brief encounter with a passing satellite (Yeun). Yearning for a sense of self, the buoy calls itself 'Me' and dubs the satellite 'Iam.' Me persuades Iam to study the remnants of the internet with her to better understand what it means to be human. Though Iam doesn't realize it, Me begins to construct new identities for them both based on social media posts from a once-living couple. ‘KPop Demon Hunters' Arrives On Netflix With Stellar Critics' Score
