EXCLUSIVE Rena Owen breaks silence on THAT surprise Bad Batch death, dream Star Wars comeback - and why George Lucas loved her 'ordinary' approach

She became a cult favourite in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones as the elegant alien Taun We. But now Rena Owen is opening up about her wildest fan encounter, emotional character death, and dream return to the galaxy far, far away. Speaking to Daily Mail Australia ahead of her appearance at Supanova Comic Con, the Once Were Warriors star, 62, revealed fans still can't get enough of her character – and some of them take it to the next level. 'I had someone come up to me and say, 'I hope you don't think I'm weird, but I think Taun We is the sexiest alien I've ever seen in a movie,' Rena laughed. 'And honestly? I took that as a total compliment!' Owen, who physically portrayed the Kaminoan aide in Attack of the Clones, says many fans don't realise it was her entire performance - not just her voice. 'It was my walking, my talking, my energy, my sensuality. The original character was quite androgynous, but after my take, they gave Taun We a headband and an earring. They feminised her because of me!' But it wasn't all fun and flirtation. When Lucasfilm recently killed off Taun We in The Bad Batch, fans were furious - and Rena was devastated too. 'Originally, they weren't going to kill her off – but they told me they had to eliminate a character fans cared about to elevate the season finale. And wow, it worked. I've never had more media headlines or fan outrage!' Still, she's hoping that death could pave the way for a brand new role. 'I said to the director, 'Well, I guess this means I can come back as someone else!' I would love to be in a new Star Wars series or movie. That's my dream now – to act in scenes with Yoda. I've got plush Yodas all over my house!' She even joked that she might need a fan petition to make it happen. 'Let's get Rena Owen back in Star Wars – new role, new galaxy, new character. I'm ready!' While her Star Wars fame continues to grow with each new generation, Rena admitted she only became aware of the franchise's global cult following after attending conventions. And if being part of one major franchise wasn't enough, Rena will soon be seen in another – Disney's live-action Moana, set for release in July 2026 'I didn't grow up with Star Wars. I grew up a country bumpkin milking cows. It wasn't until I started doing conventions that I realised it was like a religion.' That included her very first time working with George Lucas, which she remembers fondly. 'I had no idea what universe I was stepping into – so I just treated him like a regular guy. I'd be like, 'Hey George, what are you having for brekkie?' And he loved that. I think extraordinary people like being treated ordinary.' Rena says the Star Wars creator kept her close after their first collaboration, even casting her again in Revenge of the Sith. 'If filmmakers like you, they bring you back. That's how it works. But by then I was much more self-conscious. The magic of Episode II was just being a big kid, full of joy.' And if being part of one major franchise wasn't enough, Rena will soon be seen in another – Disney's live-action Moana, set for release in July 2026. 'Every single person you'll see on screen is of Polynesian descent,' she said proudly. 'It's historic. When I grew up, there were no brown faces on our TVs. Now I get young actors saying, 'You and Temuera Morrison opened the door for us.' That means everything.' As for the rest of us? If you happen to be Rena's dentist, optician, or Uber driver – you might just walk away with a signed Taun We action figure. 'Sometimes people don't believe it's me – I had to prove it to my eye specialist recently! So now I keep a few action figures to give away as gifts. We're all just big kids, after all.' And if there's one thing she hopes fans take away from meeting her? 'Never lose your magic. The source of our creativity is our inner child – and if you lose your common touch, you lose your magic.'

'I think it's a cool character': Steven Ogg finally puts Trevor rumors to rest

Source: Rockstar Games During a Q&A at Comic Con Brussels on May 11, 2025, GTA V actor Steven Ogg spoke to the long-standing fan perception that he does not like being identified with Trevor Phillips, the wild, deranged character he memorably played. Again, Ogg reiterated that he does not have any issue with Trevor or Grand Theft Auto V and that the rumors of his alleged disdain for the role are completely unwarranted. Steven Ogg embraces Trevor and shuts down fan assumptions GTA 5: Steven Ogg, Shawn Fonteno & Ned Luke Q&A Session | Comic Con Brussels | 11-05-2025 Standing with co-stars Shawn Fonteno (Franklin) and Ned Luke (Michael), Ogg was questioned whether it's really that he doesn't want to be known as Trevor Phillips. In no time at all, Ogg answered, "It does not bother me whatsoever. I mean, I think it's a cool character." Joking on, he said, "The older I am getting, the more I am looking like him," to some laughter in the audience. Ogg clarified that fans tend to take what he says out of context or misread his deadpan sense of humor as a reason for these ongoing rumors. He stressed that if he actually didn't like the character or had problems with Rockstar Games, he wouldn't still be showing up at something like Comic Con alongside his co-actors. Not the first time he has had to deal with the rumor This was not something new for Ogg. He has had to clarify this misperception several times before, but it still haunts him. Nevertheless, he is still friendly and open when the subject is brought up. Ogg has time and again singled out Trevor as a great, interesting, and well-written character. His voice and motion capture performance brought Trevor to life in a manner that made the character unforgettable to his fans, something Ogg is particularly proud of. He is not only the actor who portrayed Trevor; he is Trevor to millions of players across the globe, and he's never shied away from that heritage. Steven Ogg's comments at Comic Con Brussels should bring an end to the rumors once and for all: he doesn't despise Trevor, and he's not sick of being associated with GTA V. To the contrary, he likes the character and the fan base that comes with it. Perhaps now, the fans can refrain from asking and instead enjoy his legendary performance for what it is. Hasbro's ‘Star Wars' SDCC Exclusive Is the Ultimate ‘Revenge of the Sith' Set

Dark side, light side, it doesn't matter. This year's Hasbro Star Wars exclusive at San Diego Comic-Con is certainly the chosen one, and we're going to take the high ground to acquire it. Celebrating 20 years of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Hasbro just revealed a six-inch Black Series set, exclusively for release at San Diego Comic-Con, of Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi and their epic lightsaber duel over the lava on Mustafar. Retailing for $110, the set will first be available at Hasbro's booth (#3213) during Comic-Con, which takes place July 24-27 in San Diego, CA. From there, a limited amount will usually go on sale at But what do you get for your money? Well, Anakin and Obi-Wan of course, each with lightsabers and interchangeable hands depending on which moment of the battle you want to display. The set is divided into multiple pieces too, allowing you several options of how you want to pose the characters. Here are some images. Black Series is already the gold standard when it comes to Star Wars action figures, and seeing this massive moment in the franchise brought to life like this is incredibly exciting. Pop on John Williams' 'Battle of the Heroes,' and start acting out all your favorite lines: 'Anakin, my allegiance is to the Republic, to democracy.' 'If you're not with me, then you're my enemy.' 'Only a Sith deals in absolutes,' etc. On the other hand, while the playset elements are undeniably detailed and nice, and these figures are a little more deluxe than your standard Black Series figures thanks to the interchangeable elements and whatnot, $110 does feel a tiny bit steep. That won't matter to most Star Wars fans but it's still a lot to pay for two figures and a few stands. Nevertheless, Revenge of the Sith has never looked better and we fully expect Comic-Con attendees to go wild for this one. What are your thoughts?

David Harbour Admits He's Ready for ‘Stranger Things' to End: ‘How Much More Story Is There?'

David Harbour is ready to pull up the anchor on 'Stranger Things.' The actor, who plays Hopper in the beloved Netflix series, told Interview magazine that he is content that the show will end after five seasons and almost 10 years onscreen. 'When I started, I loved it so much,' Harbour said. 'Buddies of mine who'd done TV shows for many years said, 'By Season 3 or 4 you'll be running.' And I was like, 'Never! I love all these guys so much.' And then you get to a certain point where you're like, 'How much more story is there?'' More from IndieWire 'Andor' Season 2: Crafting Cultures, World-Building, and Story All At Once Even Tramell Tillman Is 'Scared' of His 'Severance' Character Milchick: 'Who the Hell Is That Guy Who Has My Face?' He continued, 'You're having to play a lot of the same beat, and there's a feeling where you're like, 'I want to take a risk. I want to do something that people haven't seen me do before.' So yeah, after 10 years, it's like, 'OK.'' 'Stranger Things' Season 5, Vol. 1 will be released Wednesday, November 26, with Vol. 2 debuting on Christmas Day. The series finale will debut on New Year's Eve. Harbour previously said during the live 'Happy Sad Confused' podcast at Comic Con, via People, that the series finale is the 'best episode they've ever done,' adding, 'They land the plane.' And according to the 'Thunderbolts' star, the 'Stranger Things' ensemble cast (which includes Millie Bobby Brown, Winona Ryder, Joe Keery, Sadie Sink, Finn Wolfhard, Joseph Quinn, and Maya Hawke) couldn't hold back their emotions during the table read for the last episode. 'The end of this [final] episode when we were reading it — just us reading it — about halfway through, people started crying,' Harbour said. 'Then about the last 20 minutes, it was just uncontrollably crying, waves of different people. Noah Schnapp being my favorite.' Harbour added to the Comic Con audience, 'I think part of that also is the fact that these kids, it was their childhood. It's 10 years later, and we examine that idea, and it's so well done and so beautiful. It's such a great episode, and it's such a great season. You guys will love it.' Prime Video reveals Gen V season 2 release date, and its first trailer reveals how it might set the stage for The Boys season 5

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Prime Video has set a launch date for Gen V season 2 The Boys' highly rated spin-off will return in mid-September Its first trailer addresses one of the show's most heart-breaking mysteries Amazon has finally confirmed when Gen V season 2 will be released on Prime Video. The Boys' highly rated spin-off, the first season of which currently holds a 97% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, will make its debut on September 17, 2025. The live-action series' launch date was announced at Mexico Comic-Con 2025 (CCXP) on Saturday, May 31. Like many other Amazon TV Originals, Gen V's second season will launch with a three-episode premiere. The remaining five chapters will air weekly after that until its finale on October 22. As for who'll be back on campus for the series' sophomore outing, Jaz Sinclair returns as protagonist Marie Moreau. Lizze Broadway's Emma Meyer, Maddie Phillips' Cate Dunlap, London Thor/Derek Luh's Jordan Li, Asa Germann's Sam Riordan, and Sean Patrick Thomas' Polarity are also set to return. They'll be joined by Hamish Linklater, who's the first newcomer to be announced for one of the best Prime Video shows' next chapter. The Midnight Mass and Batman: Caped Crusader actor on board as Cipher, aka Goldolkin University's new and morally complicated Dean. Major spoilers follow for Gen V season 1. To answer that query, we'll turn our attention to the first trailer and official plot brief for Gen V season 2. Let's deal with the trailer first. Surprisingly, it confirms that Marie, Jordan and Emma will be reinstated as students at Godolkin University. As my Gen V season 1 ending explainer, well, explained, the trio were imprisoned by Vought for their part in the chaos that engulfed their Supes-only college in last season's finale. Before The Boys season 4 aired, I'd predicted that's where they would remain until the titular Supe-bashers broke them out of jail. Given how The Boys season 4 ended, though, that scenario is, at the time of writing, highly unlikely to happen. So, why has this trio been released, and how does Gen V season 2 tie into events of The Boys' fourth installment? To answer those questions, may I point you in the direction in Gen V 2's story synopsis. "In season 2, school is back in session," it reads. "As the rest of America adjusts to Homelander's iron fist, back at Godolkin University, the mysterious new Dean preaches a curriculum that promises to make students more powerful than ever. Cate and Sam are celebrated heroes, while Marie, Jordan, and Emma reluctantly return to college, burdened by months of trauma and loss. "But, parties and classes are hard to care about with war brewing between Humans and Supes, both on and off campus," it continues. "The gang learns of a secret program that goes back to the founding of Godolkin University that may have larger implications than they realize. And, somehow, Marie is a part of it." So, Gen V's second season will deal with the fallout from its predecessor and The Boys' fourth installment. It'll address why Andre, aka the high-school Supe played by Chance Perdomo in season 1, won't return as well. Perdomo died in March 2024 following a motorbike accident but, rather than recast Andre, Gen V's creative team tweaked this season's story to explain what happened to Andre off-screen. Based on what the teaser shows, it'll be one of this season's most emotional subplots, too. Throw in Cipher's plan to create a new army of Supes who'll answer to the tyrannical Homelander, the potential for this so-called secret program to be integral to the main show's final season, and cameos from The Boys – Firecracker makes a brief appearance in season 2's initial trailer – and Gen V season 2 looks like it'll be a highly charged affair ahead of The Boys season 5's eventual launch. With filming on the latter series ongoing, its arrival on one of the world's best streaming services isn't likely to happen until 2026. Prime Video puts a Supernatural spin on The Boys season 5 cast as Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins sign on to the popular show in mystery roles Stranger Things season 5 release dates have been revealed, and Netflix has turned my 2025 festive season plans upside down Learn more about Invincible season 4 with our help
