The defeat means Chelsea are unlikely to win their group, with Flamengo three points and four goals better off.
Maresca's men will still scrape through should they avoid defeat against ES Tunis on Tuesday night.
But even if they do manage to limp on, the West Londoners will face a tough ask in the round of 16.
The runners-up in Chelsea's group will face the winners of Group C in the knockout phase.

As it stands this would be Harry Kane's Bayern Munich, who have so far beaten Auckland City and Boca Juniors.
The difficult match would take place at Charlotte's Bank of America Stadium on June 28.
Bayern could still fail to win their group, however, with Benfica able to pip them if they beat the Bavarians on Tuesday.
Even if Chelsea do manage to advance to the quarter-finals, there's a good chance that European champions Paris Saint-Germain would await them.

Should they do so, the French giants would play the winners of Group A, likely to be Palmeiras or Inter Miami, in the round of 16 - before possibly facing Chelsea.
The Blues initially led against Flamengo, going one up via in-form Pedro Neto.
Everything went wrong in the second half, however, with goals by Bruno Henrique and Danilo turning the match on its head, before Nicolas Jackson was sent off for a reckless challenge.
Wallace Yan's calm finish made the match safe late on, leaving Chelsea with it all to do.
After the match, boss Maresca said of his side's collapse: "It completely changed the game.
"Unfortunately we conceded two goals in a short moment and then the red card and then I think it is complicated to get back into the game.
"We tried – but congratulations to them. They deserved to win.
"We tried to do something different in the game, for next season and for the future."

Yildiz double powers Juventus to 4-1 victory over Wydad Casablanca
PHILADELPHIA, June 22 (Reuters) - Kenan Yildiz struck twice and played a key role in an own goal as Juventus secured a 4-1 win over Morocco's Wydad Casablanca in the Club World Cup on Sunday. The Italian side top Group G with six points after two matches, three clear of Manchester City, who play UAE's Al Ain later on Sunday. Both Al Ain and Wydad have no points. Juventus started brightly at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field, taking the lead in the sixth minute. Yildiz was instrumental in the opener as his angled shot forced Wydad defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil to turn the ball into his own net in his attempt to block it. Ten minutes later, Yildiz unleashed a spectacular strike from the edge of the box into the top-right corner to give Juventus a 2-0 lead, but a mistake by the Italian defence gifted Thembinkosi Lorch a goal to reduce the deficit in the 25th minute. Juve, however, extended their lead again through Yildiz's brilliance, with the 20-year-old Turkish forward scoring their third goal from close-range in the 69th minute, with substitute Dusan Vlahovic wrapping up their commanding win from the penalty spot deep in added time.

Former Chelsea star 'RESIGNS from his role as manager' with players and staff 'shocked' over his exit - days after he called them a 'pub team'
A former Chelsea star has reportedly resigned from his role as a club's manager. The news has left players and staff stunned and comes just days after he referred to the side as a 'pub team'. During his time at Chelsea he won two Premier League titles as well as the League Cup. He also played for several other Premier League clubs and made 100 appearances at international level. The individual had been in charge of his club since 2021 and had enjoyed success in terms of winning silverware. However, he has now seemingly elected to depart. As reported by RTE, Damien Duff has resigned from his position as manager of Shelbourne. Duff has chosen to leave the club following a 1-0 defeat at home to Derry City on Friday, with Shelbourne currently in sixth place in the table. Shelbourne are in action at home to Waterford on Monday but it appears that Duff won't be in the dugout. Duff was furious after the game against Derry City and claimed that his players had performed like a pub team. He said: 'This (the Premier Division) is your bread and butter. They are in Europe, in the Champions League, because of the league. 'I asked them before the (Derry) game, I said it's 18 days until the Champions League, and I said if they'd have a Champions League mentality, motivation, energy here. 'I'd say pub teams have better motivation, energy, quality than us. Damning words, but I'm correct in saying them.' There was further criticism of his players from Duff as he said: 'I'll never give them an out of three games in a week. As I said to them at half-time, as I said to them at the end of the game, how well did you as individuals prepare? Did you have an hour in the sunshine yesterday or today? 'I'd say I prepared better than some guys. Granted, even when you do prepare, you might come in flat, lack of energy. 'How motivated are you then to pull yourself out of that rut, give yourself a talking to? I think some of our guys just accept it and sit there for the night. 'They are hurting, as they should be and we should be. Duff guided Shelbourne to the league title in the 2024 season, while the club also reached the final of the FAI Cup in 2022, where they were beaten by Derry City. During his playing career Duff represented Chelsea between 2003 and 2006. He also played for Blackburn, Fulham and Newcastle. He had a lengthy international career with the Republic of Ireland, during which he earned a century of caps.

Chelsea legend quits as boss of side on brink of Champions League qualification
Damien Duff led Shelbourne to the League of Ireland title last year but the former Chelsea star has made the decision to resign shortly before their Champions League qualifiers next month Former Chelsea star Damien Duff has sensationally quit as boss of Shelbourne, denying himself the chance to manage in the Champions League. Duff, 46, guided Shels to the League of Ireland title last year, as they lifted the trophy for the first time in 18 years. But after 22 games this season, Shelbourne find themselves 15 points adrift of current leaders Shamrock Rovers. Despite their struggles, Duff had been due to lead them into the Champions League qualifiers next month. Shelbourne were recently drawn to face Northern Irish champions Linfield in the first round of qualifying for Europe's elite competition, with the two legs to be played on July 9 and 16. But Friday's 1-0 loss at home to Derry City - their sixth defeat of the season, after which he compared his side to a 'pub team' - has spelled the end for the ex-Fulham winger. "Shelbourne FC regretfully wishes to announce the departure of Damien Duff as first team manager," a statement published on Sunday afternoon read. "Damien informed the club this morning that, after much thought, he has made the decision to resign. He shared the news with the players earlier today. "While all at Shelbourne FC are deeply saddened by Damien's decision, we fully respect that he feels this is the right choice for him at this time." Having taken over in November 2021, Duff enjoyed 'four extraordinary years' at Tolka Park. During his first campaign, Shelbourne reached the FAI Cup final before finishing fourth the next year. In 2024, Duff's side clinched the league title on a dramatic final day. The 46-year-old's success with Shels prompted speculation that he could become Republic of Ireland manager during their long search for a permanent boss while he also said in January that he'd rebuffed interest from a 'big club' in England. But Duff has chosen to resign, having given a scathing review of his team's performance against Derry. "This (the League of Ireland) is your bread and butter. They (Shelbourne's players) are in Europe, in the Champions League, because of the league," the 100-time Ireland international fumed. Which club should appoint Damien Duff? Let us know your pick in the comments section. "I asked them before the game, I said it's 18 days until the Champions League, and I said if they'd have a Champions League mentality, motivation, energy here. I'd say pub teams have better motivation, energy, quality than us. Damning words, but I'm correct in saying them." Former West Ham defender Joey O'Brien has been installed as interim manager for Monday's trip to Waterford. Shelbourne co-owner Neil Doyle commented on Duff's departure, saying: "There are no words that do justice to Damien's accomplishments at Shelbourne FC and what he has done for both the club and the League of Ireland. "We look back with immense pride on his time here. As a club, we move forward with confidence, knowing that the foundations we have jointly built will underpin our continued success. Thank you, Damien, for everything." Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
