Finish works of water resources, officials told
Eluru: State Civil Supplies Minister and District In-charge Minister Nadendla Manohar has directed officials to expedite irrigation-related work in the district. During a review meeting at the Collectorate on Monday, Minister Manohar, along with other officials, discussed issues including irrigation, siltation, employment, drinking water supply, and education. He noted the early arrival of the monsoon and emphasised completing de-siltation of canals and ponds by month-end, ensuring irrigation and drinking water for suburban areas. He highlighted that 3.81 lakh job cards have been issued under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, with a goal of 65% of work completed by June 15.
He also called for the development of horticultural crops across 14,000 hectares and aimed to increase enrollment of 13,000 students in government schools while addressing dropout rates. Minister Manohar urged the swift construction of summer storage tanks for drinking water and emphasized improving medical services at government hospitals.
Following a recent maternal death due to inadequate medical services, he mandated an inquiry and stressed accountability among medical staff. Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy added that immediate construction of a cattle shed is needed, and he clarified that admissions in Sri Venkateswara Junior College, Kamavarapukota, should continue. He also called for prompt completion of projects under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme and preventive measures for mango farmers facing virus outbreaks.

Men's health after 50 is often overlooked, yet millions in India face hormonal shifts, rising prostate cancer risks, and sexual health issues. This group is particularly vulnerable to a range of health concerns, many of which often go unnoticed or untreated. Nearly 50% of men above 50 report issues such as urinary problems and sexual dysfunction. Many also experience symptoms associated with andropause, which is similar to menopause in women. This is largely due to declining testosterone levels, while testosterone peaks around age 30, it begins to decrease by about 1% per year thereafter, leading to more significant dysfunction by the age of 55 to 60. Prostate problems are also a growing concern. Many men tend to ignore symptoms due to work pressure, frequent travel, and chronic stress, but ignoring early signs can lead to more serious outcomes. Testosterone typically peaks in the early morning. Engaging in morning physical activity triggers a surge of hormones such as cortisol, serotonin, dopamine, BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor), adrenaline, and growth hormones. These hormones help men cope with stress and improve mental and physical well-being throughout the day. Prostate cancer rates in India are rising, currently estimated at 11–19 cases per 1 lakh men (compared to 9–11 previously). Age remains the most significant risk factor, especially as India's average life expectancy has increased to 72 years (as per the 2021 census). Other risk factors include family history, genetic mutations (such as BRCA1 and BRCA2), and lifestyle habits. Patients typically present with urinary symptoms such as poor stream, delayed emptying, or sudden retention. In advanced cases, symptoms may include bone pain, weight loss, and appetite loss. Diagnosis often involves a clinical exam and a simple blood test (Total PSA). In some cases, an MRI and a prostate biopsy are required for confirmation. Treatment depends on the stage of the disease: Dr. Manohar emphasizes that early detection is crucial, as survival rates drop significantly in more advanced stages (as low as 35% in stage two). These simple lifestyle habits can go a long way in preventing or managing health challenges that men commonly face after the age of 50. Make yoga a part of daily life, urges JC
Kurnool: Joint Collector Dr B Navya emphasised the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life, stating that it promotes both physical health and mental well-being. As part of the Yogandhra campaign, a mass rally was organised on Monday from Gandhi Statue at the Collectorate to Rajavihar. The rally was flagged off by the Joint Collector, who released tricolor balloons into the air, marking the formal launch of the event. Speaking on the occasion, she said that under the Yogandhra campaign, yoga awareness programmes are being conducted at village, mandal, and revenue division levels. These include various competitions such as rangoli, essay writing, elocution, and yoga contests, along with awareness rallies across the district. Following the inaugural address, Joint Collector Navya also took part in the rally. Participants raised slogans and displayed placards promoting the benefits of yoga. Officials ordered to keep a tab on overcharging hospitals
Nirmal: District Collector Abhilasha Abhinav has ordered the officials that private and government hospitals in the district must strictly follow the provisions of the Clinical Establishment Act - 2010. On Friday, the Collector held a review meeting with the relevant officials at the Collectorate on the implementation and monitoring of the Clinical Establishments (Registration and Regulation) Act - 2010 and the Women and Child Protection Acts. Speaking on the occasion, she ordered that quality medical services should be provided to the people in government and private hospitals in the district. She said that there should be no negligence in the implementation of the Women and Child Protection Acts. Hospitals should not charge high charges from patients, and the rate chart should be clearly displayed at the reception in every hospital. Every hospital should follow minimum standards and properly manage bio-medical waste. It was clarified that all private medical institutions, scanning centers, and diagnostic labs in the district should be registered under the Clinical Establishments Act.
