University of Hawaii's Ostrowski heads to NCAA DI Championships
University of Hawaii Swimmer Karol Ostrowski is headed to compete in the NCAA Division I Championships in the final week of March.
The Hawaii senior qualified in the 50 Free competition. Ostrowski is the lone male swimmer from UH and the entire Big West Conference to qualify in the DI Championships.
The Poland native is also a former Olympian (2020) and he is using that experience and his previous NCAA Championship to prepare for this year.
'I was training really hard the whole season and I always just to have fun, stick to the plan, have fun and enjoy it,' said Ostrowski.
The Swimmer is impressive in the pool according to his peers, as he makes it seem effortless in the pool.
'He connects really well with the water and he's able to do everything you could ever ask. When he is swimming fast, it looks like he's going very smoothly and he's not fighting the water, but he loves to work with it. He's just a all around Waterman,' said Hawaii Head Coach Steve Allnutt.
Ostrowski will compete on March 27th in Federal Way, Washington.

Oklahoma State's Ethan Fang becomes first American in 18 years to win British Amateur
Ethan Fang's year just got even better. Less than a month after helping Oklahoma State to its first NCAA Championship in seven years, the rising Cowboys junior captured the 130th British Amateur on Saturday at Royal St. George's to score three major invites and a likely Walker Cup spot. Fang trailed Ireland's Gavin Tiernan, 1 down, at the halfway point of the scheduled 36-hole final. But Fang took his first lead after Tiernan's bogey at the par-4 fifth, his third bogey of the afternoon. Tiernan, who just completed his freshman season at East Tennessee State, would card an eagle at the par-5 seventh to tie the match back up, but he also registered six bogeys over the final half after making just one in the morning portion. Fang won Nos. 14 and 15 to go 2 up, though Tiernan would claw back with lengthy birdie makes at each of the next two holes to send the match to the par-4 18th all tied. That's when Fang cut a beautiful approach shot into the green, his ball hitting the upslope perfectly and rolling to about 5 feet. Tiernan missed left, though he nearly canned a third straight from long range. Fang then calmly drained his closing birdie for the win, which comes with invitations into next month's Open Championship at Royal Portrush, next spring's Masters and next summer's U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills. Fang, who entered the championship ranked seventh in the world amateur rankings, was already a good bet to qualify for Nathan Smith's 10-man U.S. Walker Cup team that will compete at Cypress Point this September; now, Fang is a virtual lock, along with three Americans who officially qualified via the world rankings on Wednesday – Auburn's Jackson Koivun, Virginia's Ben James and Ole Miss' Michael La Sasso. PWHL Seattle taps Steve O'Rourke as the expansion team's first coach

The move brings in a newcomer to women's hockey, but someone who is very familiar to the Pacific Northwest having played at Washington State. 'This is something I've thought about since the league was first announced,' O'Rourke said in a statement. 'To now be given the opportunity to work with the best players in the world and be part of a professional league that is thriving both on and off the ice is truly amazing. Being from the West and having played hockey in Washington State, I've seen first-hand how much the game has grown in this region. The passion and support for hockey here is real, and I'm proud to now be part of it in a new way." While the roster is still being constructed, O'Rourke will have the benefit of coaching a team featuring four-time Olympian Hilary Knight, who became the first player Seattle signed during the PWHL's expansion process two weeks ago. 'We're proud to welcome Steve as the first head coach in PWHL Seattle's history,' PWHL Seattle general manager Meghan Turner said in a statement. 'He brings a great hockey mind, a clear vision for the game, and a strong commitment to developing both our team and our players as individuals. We're confident in his leadership and excited to start this next chapter with him behind the bench.'
