Official: Pisilli signs new Roma contract to 2026

Yahoo23-02-2025

Roma have officially extended their contract with youth product Niccolò Pisilli to June 2029.
The midfielder was born and bred supporting the Giallorossi, coming up through their academy to become a regular for the first team.
He was also on target in Thursday's Europa League play-off victory against FC Porto, which set up their Round of 16 tie with Athletic Club.
The 20-year-old has 34 appearances for the senior Roma squad, scoring four goals across Serie A, the Europa League and Coppa Italia.
These performances have helped earn him his senior Italy debut in October 2024, just days after his 20th birthday.
His previous contract had been due to expire in June 2026 and inevitably this will also be worth a significant pay increase.
Pisilli made his debut for the Roma first team under Jose Mourinho in the 2-0 home defeat to Inter on May 6, 2023.
He was only 18 years, seven months and 13 days old at the time.
His first goal for the club was in the 3-0 Europa League victory over Sheriff Tiraspol in December 2023.

Victor Osimhen waiting for €75m release clause to expire to drop his price

Key Manchester United target Victor Osimhen is playing a waiting game until his €75m release clause expires and he could be available more cheaply, according to reports in Italy. The clause in the Nigerian's contract only applies to clubs outside of Italy and expires in mid-July, frustrating any hopes of wrapping up a quick deal but making a more affordable one more likely. Advertisement Although on the other hand the risk is that with no clause to be triggered Napoli could dig their heels in and ask for more or, with the player having several known suitors, a bidding war could ensue. Gazzetta dello Sport claim that the player is not taking this pessimistic view and is actively waiting because 'he hopes that once the clause expires the price will drop'. However, Napoli have the option to extend his contract – currently due to expire in 2026 – by a further 12 months which would likely ratchet the price right back up again. There seems to be no discussion of the 26-year-old staying on in Naples, so any contractual wrangling would be purely with a view to the club getting as much money as possible for the player while keeping him away from their direct rivals. Advertisement Fellow Serie A giants Juventus are very keen, but Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis is determined not to strengthen a potential title contender, and 'hopes to find a foreign club that will settle the bill and satisfy the Nigerian'. The report suggests that Osimhen's decision to wait is encouraging to Juventus, but notes that if another club comes along in the meantime, or if the Turin side fail to sell Dusan Vlahovic, his future could like beyond Serie A. Osimhen spent last season on loan at Galatasaray where he was as prolific as ever, scoring 37 goals in 41 games and supplying eight assists. He would be an ideal striker to drop into Ruben Amorim's goal-starved squad, with the experience and mentality to hit the ground running and drag the Red Devils up by their bootstraps. Advertisement Even amongst Premier League clubs United do not have a clear run at the player, however, with Liverpool reportedly entering talks for him and Chelsea long holding an interest. Osimhen declined a gigantic offer from Saudi side Al-Hilal earlier this summer which boosted hopes for prospective employers across Europe. Ultimately, however, it feels like a long-running saga with the end not yet in sight for either the player or United. Featured image Ahmad Mora via Getty Images Follow us on Bluesky: @

Advertisement It was all celebrations for Ange Postecoglou's men at San Mames, as they edged past Manchester United in the Europa League by a single goal, scored by Brennan Johnson. He duly received his medal at the end of the game from UEFA bosses, but not all his teammates were so lucky. UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin could be seen throwing his fellow officials a glance when he realised they'd run out of medals to present to the Spurs stars. The medals shortage produced an awkward moment for UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin The governing body have since revealed that the problem arose after Tottenham sent more players to receive a medal than UEFA expected. Advertisement Both the winners and runners-up are given 50 medals each to distribute as they see fit, but only 30 are taken out onto the pitch. In a statement, UEFA said: 'To our great displeasure, we did not have enough medals available on stage during the trophy ceremony presentation due to an unexpected discrepancy in the player count, as more team members - including injured players - participated in the ceremony than initially anticipated. 'The missing medals were promptly delivered to the winning team in the dressing room, along with our sincerest apologies for the oversight.' Son and his colleagues did, thankfully, receive their medals at a later point in the dressing room | Credit: Alamy Given that Spurs sent up the likes of Sergio Regulion before captain Son – the former having not played a single minute in the competition – Spurs bear more than a little responsibility for the mix-up themselves, in FourFourTwo's opinion. Advertisement But trophies and silverware have not been a regular occurrence for the Lilywhites of late, so you can forgive a little eagerness in the moment. Tottenham next face Brighton & Hove Albion when Premier League action returns for the final day this weekend.

Son Heung-min. | Credit: Getty Images It's 10 years since Son Heung-min joined Tottenham Hotspur from Bayer Leverkusen – a decade on, he's a bona fide Spurs legend. Advertisement The South Korean has scored 173 goals in 454 games for Spurs, and finally secured the first major club trophy of his career in May, when he lifted the Europa League trophy as captain. Since then though, there have been reports that he may leave the club, with Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce and Saudi Arabian sides among those linked. It's the right time for Tottenham and Son Heung-min to part, says Jamie O'Hara Son Heung-min | Credit: Getty Images Son turns 33 in early July, and former Spurs midfielder Jamie O'Hara thinks the time might be right to allow him to leave if a suitable offer is received. 'If a big opportunity came, I'd let him go,' O'Hara told FFT. 'I think he's come to his end in terms of being the top footballer he was, and maybe he needs to go to a bit of a slower league. Jamie O'Hara | Credit: Alamy 'The Premier League is too quick for him and he's lost his legs a bit. He's been an unbelievable servant to the club, but there are times when the game moves on. Advertisement 'He's a legend, I'd love him to stay at Tottenham and be the player that he was, but I just don't know if I'm going to see that again, I don't think he's got that in him any more.' Son scored just seven Premier League goals in 2024-25, and was only used as a substitute in the Europa League final on his way back from injury. 'In the final, his legs were gone,' O'Hara said, speaking in association with Grosvenor Sport. 'I know he'd come back from injury, and it's hard coming back from injury – I did it loads of times and it's not easy. 'I feel for him but he looks like he's lost his legs and that happens to everyone. He needs the sharpness, the first two or three yards that he used to have. He'd push it past you and he was gone. Now when you watch him play, he can't do that. Advertisement 'Ryan Giggs used to do that, bang he was gone, he'd be sharp as anything, then when he got older, he had to change his game. 'He adapted because he couldn't push the ball past people any more, he became a bit of a midfielder. Can Son do that, can he adapt his game? You've got to learn to do things differently.' Son Heung-min | Credit: Alamy Having finally won a trophy with Spurs, there's also a possibility that Son himself may think the time is right to depart North London. 'Absolutely,' O'Hara said. 'He's lifted that trophy that he's always wanted, he's done it with Tottenham, he's been an incredible leader and an incredible player. 'He's made Tottenham one of the biggest clubs in Asia, commercially. He's a legend of the club.'
