Co-founder, Rahul Arepaka, announced the new member of the team on LinkedIn, and in a heartwarming post that received many online reactions.'Meet our newest hire, Denver– Chief Happiness Officer. He doesn't code. He doesn't care. "He just shows up, steals hearts, and keeps the energy high," the LinkedIn post stated.advertisementPets are known to significantly enhance a person's happiness and overall well-being. Having pets in the workplace can help build relationships, reduce stress levels, and boost productivity.
Nowadays, mental health and work-life balance are just as important as financial rewards and promotions. As a result, organisations around the world are elevating their employee benefits. Today's workplaces are not limited to traditional perks; they now feature amenities like gaming zones, meditation rooms, and even sleep pods. This shift creates a more enjoyable and morale-boosting atmosphere, lowers stress, and aims to improve employee motivation while promoting employee retention.Let's explore some of the most creative ways companies are fostering happiness at work, starting with our very own four-legged officer in India.CREATIVE WAYS OFFICES PROMOTE A HAPPY AND RELAXED ENVIRONMENT1. PET POLICIESadvertisementPet policies are becoming a common way to reduce stress and improve happiness at work. Employees can periodically break away from their desks to spend a little time playing with their furry friends, which can elevate their spirits and promote social interactions.2. GAME ROOMS AND BREAK ROOMSSome offices have dedicated game rooms or breakout areas that have table tennis, football, board games or video games. These areas are fun opportunities for employees to take a break, or else socialise and get to know their team better, and they can also provide some mileage in breaking up the work day.3. QUIET ROOMS AND NAP PODSSome offices have quiet rooms/nap rooms that can be used to take naps, meditate or simply have some alone time. Short naps and quiet time can all contribute to boosting energy levels, focus and wellbeing.4. CLOSE TO NATURAL ELEMENTSHours and hours spent indoors are not good for our minds and bodies. Being surrounded by plants, natural light or natural elements, like stone or wood, creates a relaxing environment. Moreover, access to greenery and sunlight has also been found to reduce stress and elevate mood.5. THEMED AND CREATIVE COMMUNAL SPACESMany spaces have attempted to create a themed break room - whether it be an Italian caf-style lounge, or a meditation corner - simply taking a break in these spaces will invariably change your state of mind. And of course, these spaces promote creativity and inspire relaxation, all very conducive to a thriving workplace!advertisement6. PERSONALISING THE WORKPLACEAllowing employees to modify their workspace by including personal touches such as pictures, memorabilia, or personal items will allow them to feel more at home and truly valued. This ability to express a bit of individuality can increase satisfaction and pride in their work.7. WELLNESS PROGRAMS, ON-SITE ACTIVITIESHaving on-site classes for yoga, meditation, fitness challenges, or even on-site massage therapy can help work-related physical and mental well-being. These activities would help employees manage their stress, feel supported, and remain happy at work.8. FUN TRADITIONS AND SOME GLORIOUSLY' THEMED DAYSCreating periodic themed dress-up days, harmless pranks, or amusing office traditions will lighten the mood, and allow employees to engage with one another and relieve some stress. Also, having birthdays, anniversaries, or other office milestones will also help foster a sense of belonging.9. SOCIAL EVENTS AND VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES Having informal chats, an established book club, an office band, or group days, and volunteering as a team can foster a social connection. Developing social connections and teams helps the office become a more welcoming environment for everyone and makes the work experience better overall.advertisement10. DIGITAL DETOX ZONESSome offices are bringing in "zones" where welcoming digital devices are not allowed to offer the opportunity for a mental break when employees are no longer looking at screens, paying attention to notifications in the background, etc. Locations like this help migrate minds to the mental state needed to unwind, relax, and further explore their creativity. These unconventional strategies reveal how a happy and relaxed office space is much more than a few perks—it's about having people feel comfortable, valued, and motivated to do better work.

AI sludge has entered the job search
Live Events Katie Tanner, a human resource consultant in Utah, knew the job would be popular: It was fully remote, was at a tech company and required only three years of she was still shocked by the response on LinkedIn. After 12 hours, 400 applications had been submitted. By 24 hours, there were 600. A few days later, there were more than 1,200, at which point she removed the post. Three months later, she's still whittling down candidates."It's crazy," she said. "You just get inundated."The number of applications submitted on LinkedIn has surged more than 45% in the past year. The platform is clocking an average of 11,000 applications per minute, and generative artificial intelligence tools are contributing to the a simple prompt, ChatGPT, the chatbot developed by OpenAI, will insert every keyword from a job description into a resume. Some candidates are going a step further, paying for AI agents that can autonomously find jobs and apply on their behalf. Recruiters say it's getting harder to tell who is genuinely qualified or interested, and many of the resumes look suspiciously similar."It's an 'applicant tsunami' that's just going to get bigger," said Hung Lee, a former recruiter who writes a widely read newsletter about the popular method for navigating the surge? Automatic chat or video interviews, sometimes conducted by AI. Chipotle CEO Scott Boatwright, said at a conference this month that its AI chatbot screening and scheduling tool (named Ava Cado) had reduced hiring time by 75%.HireVue, a popular AI video interview platform, offers recruiters an option to have AI assess responses and rank candidates can also use AI to cheat in these interviews, and some companies have added more automated skill assessments early in the hiring process. For example, HireVue offers AI-powered games to gauge abilities like pattern recognition and working memory, and a virtual "tryout" that tests emotional intelligence or skills like counting change. Sometimes, Lee said, "we end up with an AI versus AI type of situation."In January, the Justice Department announced indictments in a scheme to place North Korean nationals in IT roles working remotely at US companies. Emi Chiba, a human resource technology analyst at Gartner, told DealBook that reports of candidates who used fake identities had been "growing and growing and growing."A report that Chiba published with other Gartner analysts in April estimated that by 2028, about 1 in 4 job applicants could be made up. Among its recommendations was that companies deploy more sophisticated identity-verification address the problem, LinkedIn recently added tools to help both candidates and recruiters narrow their focus, including an AI agent, introduced in October, that can write follow-up messages, conduct screening chats with candidates, suggest top applicants and search for potential hires using natural language.A feature that shows potential applicants how well their qualifications match up with a job description, which LinkedIn introduced to premium subscribers in January, reduced the rate at which they apply to "low match" jobs by 10%, according to the that using AI in hiring can introduce bias have led to lawsuits and a patchwork of state legislation. The European Union's AI Act classifies hiring under its high-risk category, with the most stringent restrictions, and while no U.S. federal law specifically addresses AI use in hiring, general antidiscrimination laws can potentially come into play if the result of any process is discrimination."You're not allowed to discriminate, and of course most employers are trying not to discriminate, but easier said than done," said Marcia Goodman, a partner at Mayer Brown who primarily represents problem is less that candidates are using AI -- a skill many employers say they want -- than it is that they're being sloppy. Alexa Marciano, the managing director of Syndicatebleu, a recruiting agency, said job seekers were reacting to recruiters' use of automated screening. "It's really frustrating for the candidates because they spend all this time creating very catered cover letters, very catered resumes," she Schifeling, a career coach who regularly conducts technology-focused job-search training at universities, said he could see this back-and-forth going on for a while. "As students get more desperate, they say, 'Well, I have no choice but to up the ante with these paid tools to automate everything.' And I'm sure the recruiters are going to raise the bar again."He argues the endgame will be authenticity from both sides. But, he said, "I do think that a lot of people are going to waste a lot of time, a lot of processing power, a lot of money until we reach that realisation."

Horowitz backs AI startup with slogan 'cheat at everything'
Andreessen Horowitz led a $15 million funding round for an artificial intelligence startup called Cluely Inc , famous on social platforms like X for controversial viral marketing stunts and the slogan "cheat on everything". The startup was cofounded by 21-year-old Roy Lee, who was booted from Columbia University earlier this year for creating a tool called Interview Coder that helped technical job candidates cheat on interviews using AI. At the time, he wrote on LinkedIn , "I'm completely kicked out from school. LOL!" More recently, Cluely, which is working on AI transcription and other services, has posted a string of provocative updates and sleek videos. For example, the company promised to pay for dating apps for its employees, said it was hiring 50 interns, made jokes about hiring strippers, and produced a video starring Lee himself using AI to coach him through a date with an older woman. Earlier this month, it threw a startup party that was broken up by the police before it started, according to TechCrunch . Crews completed a complex recovery operation so that investigators can examine the vessel. The 56-meter (184-foot) yacht, named Bayesian was covered in algae and mud as it was raised by a large yellow floating crane near the port of Porticello in northern Sicily. "The body of the superyacht Bayesian has been successfully and safely recovered from the sea,' said TMC Maritime, the company in charge of conducting the recovery. They added that the yacht will remain suspended for checks before being moved to the port of Termini Imerese on Sunday. Once at the port, the yacht will be placed on a special steel cradle for investigators to examine it. They will further determine the cause behind its sinkage. The Bayesian sank on August 19 during a violent storm. Lynch was celebrating being cleared of fraud charges in the US with his friends. His daughter and five others also died. Fifteen people survived, including the captain and all crew members except the chef.
