10 affordable housing lotteries closing at the end of March
NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – Time is running out to apply to these affordable housing lotteries.
Affordable housing lottery applications are usually open for between 45 to 60 days on NYC Housing Connect. For these ten buildings in Queens, Staten Island, Brooklyn and the Bronx, that window is closing soon.

Once the window closes, applicants are randomly reviewed for eligibility. Some tenants will be selected and other applicants will be placed on a waitlist. Not all applicants will hear back about their application, according to New York City's Housing Development Corporation.

What's available: Four one-bedrooms for $3,200 per month; one two-bedroom for $3,700 per month.

2 people rescued after plane crashes into Long Island Sound: Officials
CONNECTICUT (PIX11) – Two people were rescued from a small plane that crashed into the Long Island Sound Sunday morning, according to the FAA. A small aircraft was found in the water near the town of Branford around 10:30 a.m., according to the U.S. Coast Guard and the FAA. It crashed just south of Tweed New Haven Airport. More Local News The aircraft had two people on board, officials said. Both people were taken to an area hospital in stable condition, officials said. Airport officials said the origin and destination of the flight were unknown. A spokesperson for the FAA said the plane was a Piper PA-32, a single-engine plane. Search continues for missing girl last seen in water near Roosevelt Island
MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) – Police are still searching for a 15-year-old girl who went missing in the water near Roosevelt Island on Friday. The teenager went missing around 12:15 p.m., according to the NYPD. She was last seen in a bathing suit with flowers on it near 688 Main Street, police said. More Local News Police still do not know how she ended up in the water. Videos from the scene show police boats searching the East River as divers search underneath the water. Videos from the scene also show items like a bag, sneakers and books. Police told the New York Post that these items belong to the missing teenager. Locals told PIX11 News the scene is 'very shocking' for a peaceful and quiet area. Road closures for Queens Pride Parade 2025
QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) — The Queens Pride Parade will officially kick off Pride Month in New York City this weekend. The parade kicks off at 12 p.m. Sunday and runs along 37th Avenue from 89th Street to 75th Street. At the end of the parade route, a festival will take place from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. More Local News The day will include performances from Austin Halls, Antaeuz Y La Santa Luz, Haus of US, and many more. It'll fill Jackson Heights with food, entertainment, dancing and colorful floats. Now in its 31st year, it's the second-oldest and second-largest pride parade in the city.
