Rockstar removes PS Plus requirement for GTA Online on PS4 & PS5

PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players can temporarily play GTA Online without an active PlayStation Plus subscription for a short time. Rockstar and Sony have lifted the PS Plus requirement temporarily as part of the new
Money Fronts
update celebration, granting more players entry into Los Santos and a taste of the latest features.
The free period will expire on July 1.

The PS Plus paywall for GTA Online has been dropped on both PS4 and PS5, so that everybody, whether subscribed to PS Plus or not, can play the game's online universe. This offer coincides with the release of
Money Fronts
, a new update that brings new criminal businesses, cars, and missions designed to further enrich the player's money-generating opportunities in the game.
Rockstar has employed the same access events before, on the occasions of big content drops, to bring back lapsed players or bring in new players.
While some of these events have run for a weekend, this one is running for two weeks until July 1. Throughout these two weeks, non-PS Plus players can experience GTA Online in its entirety, purchase new vehicles, engage in jobs, and enjoy community events taking place throughout Los Santos.
Why Rockstar is doing this and what players will be getting
This type of move is in line with Rockstar and Sony's wider strategy to promote player interest whenever a new update drops. GTA V keeps selling millions of copies each quarter, and for numerous new or casual gamers, the PS Plus subscription can act as a barrier to getting a taste of GTA Online.

By lowering that barrier temporarily, Rockstar makes more people experience the latest updates and maybe stay engaged in the long run.
Next week, an additional six vehicles will be included in the game as part of the
Money Fronts
update, and everyone, subscribed and non-subscribed alike, will have access to them if they play inside this timeframe. Meanwhile, existing PS Plus subscribers also have access to GTA III via the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog under the Extra and Premium plans.
