Abducted Noida businessman and his driver rescued, five arrested
Noida: Police rescued a businessman and his driver who were kidnapped on Thursday, and also arrested five persons who reached out to their targets by offering fraudulent loan assistance.
Two cars (Fortuner and Sonnet) that were stolen from the abducted men and Rs 75,000 in cash, one Samsung watch, three mobile phones, eight ATM cards, Aadhar cards, one laptop with a charger, two cheque books, and an illegal pistol with cartridges were recovered from the accused.
Rohit (24), Sachin (28), Ashish (24), Rahul (23) of Sonipat, and Pradeep Malik (36) of Panipat kidnapped 65-year-old Chandrapal Yadav and his driver Sachin (27) from Unitech Horizon Society of Greater Noida at gunpoint.
They assaulted the duo and also took away the car, money, and other valuables from the house.
According to Shakti Mohan Avasthy, deputy commissioner of police,
Central Noida, the accused were traced on Saturday following a tip-off received by Surajpur police.
During the investigation, the suspects revealed that they lured businessmen in the name of helping them get loans and then extorted money from them.
If their target refused to pay, they would kidnap them to force them to pay.

The gang allegedly worked with two men, Pravendra and Suresh Dalal, residents of Sonipat, to contact businessmen and offer help to get loans.
They would build a rapport with the targets, only to provide a large amount of money and soon threaten them to return it at the rate of 30 percent interest per month.
Targets who refused to do so were kidnapped and assaulted.
The duo contacted Akshaydeep and Chetan Yadav (sons of Yadav) to arrange a loan for their company, Pawan Energy India, based out of Sector 135.
In Sept 2024, Pravendra sent them Rs 3 crore but soon demanded 30% monthly interest.
The Yadavs repaid Rs 3.17 crore, but the gang demanded another Rs 3 crore. When they refused, the gang kidnapped Yadav and his driver, Sachin, at gunpoint.
They were then taken to Sonipat and later brought back to force them to pay Rs 3 crore.
An FIR was filed against seven persons under sections 140(1) (kidnapping or abducting in order to murder), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 351 (3) (criminal intimidation), 61(2) (criminal conspiracy), 308(5) (extortion), 309(4) (robbery), 317(2) (stolen property) of the BNS.
The search for other accomplices of the accused is ongoing, said DCP Avasthy.

Criminal wanted in double murder case shot dead in encounter: Police
The Firozabad police on Friday gunned down a criminal wanted in connection with a double murder case. Police said the accused carried a bounty of Rs 50,000 on his head. Police identified the deceased as Raju Khan, a resident of Shahganj in Agra. A pistol and several cartridges were recovered from his possession, police claimed. Superintendent of Police, Firozabad, Saurabh Dixit, said the accused was a 'habitual offender who often targeted vulnerable persons.' According to the police, they got a tip-off about the accused's presence at an under-construction house on Puratan Road, where he was reportedly hiding and planning a dacoity. A team was dispatched and the area was cordoned off. Police claimed that Khan was urged to surrender but he opened fire at the team. The police retaliated and he suffered bullet injuries. He was taken to a hospital, where he died during treatment, said police. Khan had been accused of barging into the house of one Munna Lal Yadav in Bansinagar with the intention to loot. Munna Lal and his wife Mithlesh were asleep at an open plot located next to their house. According to the police, Khan murdered Lal and his wife before fleeing with valuables. In another incident on the intervening night of June 14 and 15, a group of persons allegedly attacked and injured an elderly woman, Suraj Mukhi, at her residence during a robbery attempt. Police examined CCTV footage from near both crime scenes and found that the modus operandi in both cases was similar. Based on this and other evidence, the accused was identified as Khan. Investigations revealed that he used to travel from Agra to Shikohabad in Firozabad using rented vehicles. After committing the crimes, he would return to his residence, police said.

Classroom case: ED raids 37 locations in Delhi, seizes 322 bank passbooks
New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED), Delhi Zonal Office conducted search operations at 37 locations across the national Capital under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002 in the Delhi classroom construction irregularities case and recovered digital evidence and 322 bank passbooks linked to mule accounts opened in the names of labourers, allegedly to divert government funds. "During the searches, original departmental files belonging to the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) and rubber stamps of officials of Public Works Department (PWD), various incriminating documents showing fake invoices submitted to GNCTD departments, showing inflated/bogus claims, digital evidence and 322 bank passbooks linked to mule accounts opened in the names of labourers to divert government funds were recovered and seized", said an ED Press statement on Friday. It is pertinent to note here that the ED initiated this investigation on the basis of a First Information Report (FIR) registered by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) on April 30, alleging irregularities in the construction of 12,748 classrooms or semi-permanent structures in government schools. On April 30, the ACB registered a FIR against senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ministers Manish Sisodia (the then Education Minister) and Satyendar Jain (the then Public Works Department minister) and others, over alleged corruption in the construction of classrooms. The FIR was pertaining to financial misappropriation exceeding Rs 2,000 crore in the construction of approximately 12,748 additional classrooms by the PWD, between 2015 and 2023. Notably, Manish Sisodia on Friday was questioned for nearly three hours by the ACB over the same case. The former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi left the ACB's office at around 2.40 P.M. after appearing before investigators around noon. While the former education minister accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of misusing investigative agencies for political vendetta, the ACB said that the scam involved inflated costs in the construction of classrooms and school buildings under the Delhi government.
