Yesteryear actor Jeetendra, also a promoter of Balaji Telefilms, created a splash recently selling off two family-owned pieces of prime real estate in Mumbai's sought-after suburb of Andheri for a humungous Rs 855 crore. The 2.4 acre property, which currently houses the Balaji IT Park, and a few commercial buildings, was sold to NTT Global Data Centers. While this deal was the talk of the town because of its size, it was not the only celebrity sell-off. Mumbai in recent months has seen a spate of high value sales by Bollywood actors and cricketers. Earlier, Amitabh Bachchan was in the news for selling a large duplex apartment in a building called 'Atlantis', located in the suburb of Andheri, for Rs 83 crore. In March, actor Akshay Kumar made a splash with the sale of two residential units in a gated community called 'Oberoi Sky City', in the north-west suburb of Borivali, for Rs 6.6 crore. He followed it up in April with the sale of a 1,200 sq ft commercial office space in 'One Place Lodha' for Rs 8 crore. Abhishek Bachchan, also a big real estate player in the Mumbai market, meanwhile, is in the process of offloading a prime duplex apartment on the 40thand 41st floor of one of the towers in Planet Godrej, in the Mahalaxmi Area of south Mumbai. Purchased from Godrej Properties (GPL) around 12years ago, Bachchan Junior has been leasing the apartment at high rentals. Portfolio rejig However, these sales do not herald the exit of the stars from the real estate market. They are deals to cash out of some properties when the going is good, while they rejig their portfolio. 'Amitabh Bachchan's sales are evenly matched by his shopping spree for prime land in Ayodhya,' points out Pankaj Kapoor, founder of the property tracking site LiasesForas.

Amitabh Bachchan was handed a CD of a Hollywood movie, instead of script of 'Ek Ajnabee', recalls producer Bunty Walia

After going through a difficult time in the 1990s, Amitabh Bachchan was successfully making a comeback in Bollywood in the early 2000s. During this time, filmmakers in India had no concerns about remaking Hollywood films, even without buying any rights, as the laws regarding these matters weren't strictly in place at the time. Following the trend, Big B was also given a CD of Hollywood movie—but, surprisingly, without a script. The actor who is considered the best actor in the Indian film industry , was obviously shocked when he was handed the CD and asked if he would want to do the Indian version of the film. Inspired by ' Man on Fire ' Producer Bunty Walia discussed the filming of Ek Ajnabee, which was directed by Apoorva Lakhia and starred Arjun Rampal , on Friday Talkies' YouTube channel. Lakhia stated that he was inspired to make the film after seeing the Denzel Washington film Man on Fire. The two believed that Amitabh would be the most suitable candidate for the role if they decided to remake it. Lakhia had previously made his Bollywood debut in Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost, starring Abhishek Bachchan. Pitch without a script According to Bunty, 'I talked to Amitabh sir's secretary, Sheetal ji, and we fixed up a meeting with him. When I met with him, he asked me for the script, and I told him that we didn't have any script, and I handed him the CD of Man on Fire. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo I told him we were going to 'Indianise' it and then make a film.' Bachchan asked, "What do I do with it?" because he didn't understand what they were attempting to do. Walia continued. Their degree of readiness certainly did not impress his secretary. 'I remember Sheetal ji looking at me like I was a fool. We didn't have a script or schedule for the film, and we were trying to sign him for the film. He gave us dates for many months later and told us straight that now it was our job to convince Amitabh sir to do the film.' Despite this, Amitabh Bachchan finally agreed to play the lead in Ek Ajnabee, which came out in 2005 and won praise for his powerful performance.

"Mera baap chor hai...": Bihar Dy CM Samrat Chowdhary compares Amitabh Bachchan's film dailogue with RJD's fodder scam

Patna (Bihar) [India], June 21 (ANI): Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary on Saturday took a dig at the Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav, drawing parallels between the fodder scam and the iconic Bollywood film 'Deewar' starring Amitabh Bachchan. There is a famous dialogue in the film, where Amitabh Bachchan confronts with Shashi Kapoor, with the harsh reality of their father's criminal past - 'Mera baap chor hai,' the Bihar DY CM draws similarities with Tejashwi's father Lalu Prasad Yadav. Samrat Chaudhary highlighted the iconic dialogue, 'mera baap chor hai' (my father is thief) is written in the hands of Amitabh Bachchan. He said Tejashwi Yadav will also have to write the same phrase on his hands. 'Fodder was stolen in Bihar. There is a film of Amitabh Bachchan in which 'mera baap chor hai' is written on his hand. Tejashwi Yadav will also have to write the same', Samrat Chowdhary said. Lalu Prasad Yadav was convicted by a special CBI court in 2017. Former Bihar Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav was found guilty of illegal withdrawals of Rs 139.35 crore from the Doranda treasury by a special CBI court in Jharkhand's Ranchi. The 900-crore fodder scam cases first cropped up in 1996 and charge-sheet was filed against Lalu Yadav by CBI in 1997. The trial began in 2002 in the special CBI court at Ranchi. In 2013, he was convicted in the 1st fodder scam case and sentenced to 5 years imprisonment along with Rs 25 lakh fine. In 2017, the CBI court had convicted Lalu Yadav and 15 others and the current one is for the 2nd of six fodder scam cases. The 2nd case pertains to embezzling of about Rs 89 lakh from the Deoghar Treasury in the 1991-94 period. Significantly, Lalu Yadav and 7 others were sentenced with 3.5 years imprisonment along with a fine of 5 lakhs each. Earlier, Bihar Deputy CMs Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha took part in the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations in Patna. Vijay Sinha hailed Yoga and said that it has been accepted by 176 countries of the world. Sinha stated that Yoga makes the body 'pure' and 'healthy' and connects with humanity. Attacking RJD, Vijay Sinha said that people like them are trying to create an atmosphere to make Bihar 'unhealthy' and mentioned that such people are 'mentally ill'. 'Today, more than 176 countries have accepted this yoga. This yoga makes the body pure and healthy, connects humanity. Yoga always transmits positive energy. Those who are mentally ill can also become healthy through yoga, demonic tendencies can be eliminated... These people (Lalu Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav) try to create an atmosphere of making Bihar unhealthy. Such people are mentally ill', Vijay Sinha told ANI. Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday took part in the 11th International Day of Yoga celebrations, where he hailed yoga as a gift 'beyond age' that transcends all boundaries and unites humanity in 'health and harmony.'
