ITV drama streamed 30,000,000 times confirms season 4 a year after final episode
The hit ITV drama from the creator of Line of Duty is officially coming back for season four – after the show has been off the air for over a year.
The bomb threat drama Trigger Point stars Vicky McClure as Afghan war veteran Lana Washington, whose bomb disposal team is tasked with protecting the public from explosives and terrorist threats.
Produced by Jed Mercurio, the nail-biting show has been commissioned for a fourth season before the third has even aired.
Season three wrapped filming in London last month and is set to hit screens this autumn, with the freshly renewed fourth season coming in 2026.
The show averaged eight million viewers for its second series and became the second most-watched drama on ITV1 (behind Mr Bates vs The Post Office) when it aired way back in 2024.
McClure, 42, will film the batch of season four episodes this summer, sharing a short clip from the set of Trigger Point season three to confirm the good news.

McClure showed her blackened fingers, presumably from filming bomb stunts, and told fans: 'We're having a brilliant time. We're nearly wrapped. It's very explosive in there but I can't show you.
She then teased: 'What I can tell you is I've got a little secret. This is not the end. We're about to bounce straight into series four.'
McClure added: 'I can't wait to continue the story of Lana Washington and her colleagues and the brilliant people that make this show.'
In a statement the Line of Duty star said she's 'buzzing' ITV have backed the drama enough to greenlit season four before the third has even aired.
'I love working with the team, we have a great time making the show and I cannot wait to continue Lana's journey on Trigger Point,' said McClure. More Trending
ITV's Director of Drama Polly Hill praised the show as one of ITV's 'most-watched dramas' of 2024, adding: 'I'm delighted that this thrilling series is returning for a fourth series.
'I know audiences will be once again on the edge of their seat as Lana and the team take us on another thrilling ride to keep the capital safe.'
Mercurio and McClure are both listed as executive producers for the upcoming fourth season, with Bloodlands writer Chris Brandon on board to pen the scripts.

'I was on The Chase Celebrity Special - you're thrust into an alien environment'
EXCLUSIVE: Renowned DJ, Judge Jules, has opened up about his appearance on The Chase's Celebrity Specia,l which saw a historic victory for him and his co-stars Judge Jules has revealed that the pressure was eased slightly during his appearance on The Chase Celebrity special, thanks to his connection with the studio. The renowned DJ appeared on the ITV special last year alongside other famous faces, including Lesley Joseph, Jenni Falconer and Patrick Kielty. The group went up against Shaun 'The Dark Destroyer' Wallace in the tense rounds before eventually all four celebs were part of the final chase. It was during the final round that they managed to get one over on Wallace and walked away with a total of £200,000 to split between their chosen charities. But while some may crumble under the intense pressure of the ITV game show, lawyer and DJ Judge Jules, 58, admits that he didn't feel too pressured due to a connection with the studios where the show is filmed. "I'm not nervous in my normal activities, before I go on the decks or anything else related to the music business," he exclusively told the Mirror. The Londoner went on to add: "It was a little bit nervy because it's such an unfamiliar environment. The weird thing was, it's filmed in Elstree Studios where EastEnders is filmed, or it was when I did it anyway. My dad (Shaun O'Riordan) worked there his entire working life, so I'd been to those studios multiple times – my dad was a TV director so I think maybe that eased off the pressure a little bit." Jules, who will be DJ'ing across the UK and Balerics this summer, went on to add: "It's fast moving, you meet three others who you've never met before, all of you are there for a common purpose, it's quite comedial backstage but at the same time, it's more the alien environment. "When you're experienced in one area and suddenly you're thrust into this alien environment, it makes it more nervous. We earned a chunk of money for charity, which was great. It was £200,00, so it was quite a lot." This year, fans will see Judge Jules, the nephew of Rick Stein, at Tom Kerridge's Pub In The Park Festival, Foodies, as well as dates across Ibiza and Sheffield's 90s Fest at Don Valley Bowl. "I've done quite a few food-oriented festivals," he said. He went on to add: "I think the core element of the sound stage and DJ'ing is quite similar, it's more about what's going on around the edges. It's one of those that, as a DJ, I might under normal circumstances turn up an hour before, do my set and then probably go reasonably soon afterwards if I've got somewhere else to go, whereas I would make a day of it because there's so much more to do." Jules explained that he faced difficulties last year after taking part in a live cooking demonstration on the stage, which was "very comedic". Last summer, he and his wife were also judges on a cocktail-making stage just before he took to the stage himself. "It's a unique day out," he joked. He said: "It's the perfect thing for the more senior music business person to go and do. It's such a varied experience. There is more than just food stalls, there's comedy, there's music, it's an amazing experience." Reflecting on dance music taking centre stage at festivals this year, with Reading and Leeds Festivals bringing the Chevron Stage back, he said: "It's a different immersive action at a festival, dance, music. I'm the ultimate salesperson for it, and I don't really know any different. I'm truly institutionalised by the experience of sort of dance floors." Having been in the industry since the Eighties, it's fair to say that Jules has seen his fair share of odd moments. One memory that sticks out to him during the vinyl era was one clubber running up to the decks and stealing the record, before running back through the crowd, while the record was actually playing. His ultimate highlight, though, is doing a job he would pay others to do. "I will always be mindful of how lucky I am," he explained. He added: "Anybody who's had any degree of success in the arts will have had certain lucky breaks along the way – that's just facts, whether people choose to admit it or not. And I'm very humbled and just so grateful to do what I love doing. Sadly, there are plenty of people out there who don't enjoy what they do to make a living." Jules was just 16 when he started, though, explaining he had a "slow trajectory" towards his success. He does, however, know musicians who have been propelled to global fame at the start of their career and admits it can be a "difficult process." Away from his music career, Julius O'Riordan is also an active lawyer, mainly centred around electronic music, making him the only active artist and entertainment lawyer. "It's a very unique viewpoint," he said. Jules added: "To be a successful artist, you need to be a little bit selfish – hopefully not to a really intolerable extent. "I think when you become an entertainment lawyer, whilst my experience in the music industry has got me quite a lot of work as a lawyer, the tables are entirely turned. I have to be humble, they're not interested in my war stories, they're interested in how my experience can play out in the advice and guidance that I give to them, that's been really good for me as a person, I think."

Good Morning Britain and EastEnders stars join royals for final day of Ascot
A number of celebrities were in attendance at the final day of the Royal Ascot on Saturday - where King Charles and Queen Camilla cheered on the horse racing events Celebrities and Royals mingled together for the 2025 final of the Royal Ascot on Saturday. King Charles III and Queen Camilla were in attendance to oversee an afternoon of high adrenaline - and high stakes - horse racing. His Majesty The King showcased his infamous quintessential style wearing a summer suit - with a pop of colour coming via a pastel yellow waistcoat. The King added a top hat to his look and carried a smart umbrella as the forecast carried a risk of downpours. Meanwhile the Queen donned a light-weight pleated white dress with a matching white jacket. She completed her look with a white had and white heels - and too was ready for any eventuality on the weather front by carrying an umbrella of her own. The royal couple arrived via horse drawn carriage and looked in high spirits as they prepared to supervise an afternoon of equestrian sport. Also in attendance was Princess Eugenie, 35, who stood out in a red dress and hat for the day ahead. While a range of celebrities also turned up to watch all the sun-soaked action. Good Morning Britain star Charlotte Hawkins was among those in attendance at the event on Saturday. She sported a floaty, yellow summer dress with a matching coloured hat resting lightly on her head. The TV star has been giving commentary for ITV about the event - and admitted she might sound more knowledgeable when speaking on air than she really is. In a behind-the-scenes post on Instagram, Charlotte revealed how she frantically makes notes about the various VIPs and royals that will be attending the races. She revealed: "Every day, we get sent an email with the carriage list, and we find out who is going to be in each of the carriages. But sometimes, you know, there are some names that we need to explain. Who they are, what they do." Sharing a look at her cheat sheet, she went on: "I do have this sort of master sheet, which has a whole load of people... And it does become a bit like a craft project, because I get my little handy scissors, I'll snip out who it is, and then I will piece it together on these sheets here. So I'm letting you into all my secrets here." She added: "This is all my own research, but I am actually just double checking that I've remembered exactly who is because there nothing worse than getting your people mixed up and you're talking about something as important as the Royal procession." Also among the stars in attendance on Saturday was EastEnders icon Rudolph Walker - who has played Patrick Truman on the BBC soap since 2001. The 85-year-old looked dapper in a suit with a cream waistcoat and tie, and a jaunty top hat. Meanwhile, Escape to the Country star Nicki Chapman who looked chic in a delightful pink summer jacket and dress. She matched her outfit with a pink hat and carried a small silver clutch. Talking fans through her look on Instagram, the TV star said: "Welcome to Chappers catwalk, getting ready for Royal Ascot today. So let's start off with the hat by Laylaleigh. She made it specially for me... it matches the dress. "And then [hair stylist] Nina [Nikol] has done such a beautiful job on the hair, so you don't see any of the paraphernalia keeping it in place. So together, they really complement each other." She went on to explain that she got her dress from Self Portrait, her bag from LK Bennett, and her shoes from Zara. She then revealed she would be getting some advice later in the day from her mother. Nicki revealed: "Mummy, you're going to give us some good tips. Yes, she is. She's going to stay here and tell us what we should be betting on. But looking forward to today, absolutely." Punters stood to win impressive prizes by betting on the right horse - while those taking part in the sport could win as much as £1 million if they managed to ride their horse to the finish line fastest. Reviewing the events, Paddy Power notes: "Every renewal is worth at least £110,000, the minimum value of a Group 1 has been increased to £650,000, while the most lucrative contests of the week boast £1,000,000 funds." Shearing details of the day ahead, the betting company added: "Among the attractions are Treanmor and Moments Of Joy going head-to-head in the opening Chesham Stakes at 14:30, while the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes at 15:40 looks a wide-open contest as Lazzat, Inisherin, Santono Reve, Storm Boy and Topgear all have claims." Despite the Royal Ascot being a fixture in the society diary, horse racing fans were shocked this week when celebrations descended into bloody violence. Two men came to blows at the grounds on Friday, leaving fans stunned. The Daily Mail reported on the violence, revealing: "A group of men attempt to separate the brawling pair. The group could briefly be heard telling the fighting men: 'Stop, stop, boys.' "While one man, dressed in a grey suit, was dragged away, the other was picked up from the ground with blood gushing from his face. "The bloodied racegoer wiped his visage and then bloodied his cream trousers as he seemingly yelled at the man he had fought only moments before." It is unclear what caused the unexpected burst of violence.
