Patrick Dempsey Reveals Why He's Not Returning for "Scream 7"
Yara Sameh
Patrick Dempsey wished to reprise his role as Detective Mark Kincaid in 'Scream 7.' In October, he said there had been 'a conversation' about him rejoining the long-running horror franchise.
Dempsey told the 'Today' show, 'I'm waiting on the script, [but] I haven't seen anything yet. So we'll see what happens.' Then it was revealed in January that Dempsey would not return again for detective Mark Kincaid.
'It just didn't work out and we were dealing with the fires and everything that was going on and the schedule didn't work out, unfortunately,' the "Grey's Anatomy" actor, who lives in Malibu, said at Chanel and Charles Finch's annual pre-Oscar dinner at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
Sydney Prescott (Neve Campbell) referred to her husband as Mark in 'Scream 5,' so fans assumed he must be Mark Kincaid. However, it was announced earlier this year that Joel McHale will be the one playing Sydney's husband.
Original cast members Campbell and Courteney Cox are returning for 'Scream 7' and so is Matthew Lillard, who played the villain of 'Scream' alongside Skeet Ulrich's Billy Loomis, and Scott Foley, who portrayed Roman Bridger Sydney's half-brother in the third entry.
Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown, who appeared in the fifth and sixth installments as siblings, are also coming back to the slasher franchise.
New cast members include Isabel May, Mark Consuelos, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, and Anna Camp. Kevin Williamson, who first wrote 'Scream,' makes his 'Scream' directorial debut with the seventh film.
Gooding teased the new 'Scream' when I talked to him in early February at the premiere of his latest horror movie 'Heart Eyes.'
'It feels like an amplification of what's came before, and there's no better indication of that than Kevin Williamson, who wrote the original, coming back now to direct,' he said.
'I think that Ghostface is absolutely the most brutal he's been. I don't want to spoil anything, but there's some stuff that they do to the human body that I feel like Kevin is breaking new ground with.' Gooding added, 'There was a prosthetic that sat in the makeup trailer that actually turned my stomach over.'
'Scream 7' is slated to release in theaters on February 27, 2026. Paramount Pictures will distribute the film, which Spyglass Media is producing.

Tom Cruise to receive honorary Oscar in career first - Screens - Arts & Culture
US actor and film producer Tom Cruise will receive an honorary Oscar ahead of the 2026 Academy Awards, the organizers said Tuesday, marking a career first for the Hollywood veteran. Cruise was selected to receive a statuette for his contributions to cinema, along with choreographer Debbie Allen and production designer Wynn Thomas. Dolly Parton will also be awarded the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award for her decades-long humanitarian work, with the trophies presented at the Academy's 16th Governors Awards event in November. Cruise, 62, has had four Oscar nominations but has never won the prestigious prize, despite achieving global fame for his roles in action films "Mission: Impossible" and "Top Gun." "Tom Cruise's incredible commitment to our filmmaking community, to the theatrical experience, and to the stunts community has inspired us all," the Academy said in a statement. It praised him as "one of the most recognized and highest-grossing actors of all time" and noted his commitment to performing all of his own stunts. Allen, 75, was recognized for her five-decade career that has included choreographing the Academy Awards ceremony seven times and working on films including 1995 rom-com "Forget Paris." Meanwhile, Thomas was saluted for his production work on titles such as "Malcolm X" and "Do the Right Thing." Follow us on: Facebook Instagram Whatsapp Short link:

Javier Bardem Slams Global Inaction: 'This Is a 21st-Century Genocide in Gaza'
Oscar-winning actor Javier Bardem delivers a powerful message, calling out Israel's blockade and the silence of world leaders, urging the world not to look away from Gaza. Bardem turned the spotlight on Gaza, delivering a searing statement: 'While we celebrate our creative passion for fiction with a generous and loving audience, we cannot forget the reality of tens and tens of thousands of children, women, and men killed by Israel's blockade of food, its bombs, and its bullets. And above all, by the political inaction and the impunity rooted in the cowardice of our leaders. They will be remembered as accomplices in this 21st-century genocide — the genocide of the people of Gaza.' A bold and urgent message that resonated far beyond the screen.

Eric Dane Walks First Red Carpet Since ALS Diagnosis, Vows to Keep Acting: "It Always Feels Great to Be on Set"
Yara Sameh Eric Dane arrived at Amazon MGM's premiere of 'Countdown' in Los Angeles on Wednesday, marking his first red carpet appearance since announcing that he had been diagnosed with ALS. 'I feel good,' Dane told Variety. 'It's nice to be here with everybody and see the hours and hours of work that we put into this come alive on screen.' Dane joined his 'Countdown' co-stars Jensen Ackles, Jessica Camacho, Elliot Knight, Violett Beane, and Uli Latukefu, along with series creator and executive producer Derek Haas, for the premiere at the Harmony Gold Theater. The actor is also preparing for HBO's 'Euphoria,' returning for the drama series' long-awaited third season. While Dane hasn't shot any scenes yet, he affirmed that production is underway. 'You're going to get more of the same, which I think, for that show, is a good thing,' Dane said about the coming episodes. 'We're moving right along. I don't know exactly what it is I'm doing, per se, but I trust [creator] Sam Levinson with every fiber of my being.' As for other projects on the horizon, Dane said he was determined to keep acting even with his diagnosis: 'It always feels great to be on a set. It's great to be employed. I love what I give. I'm going to keep doing it.' The evening marked Dane's first public outing since the broadcast of his emotional ' Good Morning America ' interview with Diane Sawyer in which he revealed he now only has 'one functioning arm.' 'My left side is functioning, my right side has completely stopped working,' he noted, adding that his left arm has been getting weaker as well. 'I feel like maybe a couple more months and I won't have my left hand either. It's sobering.' The 52-year-old 'Grey's Anatomy' and 'Euphoria' star was diagnosed in April. He first started having symptoms a year and a half ago when he began to experience weakness in his right hand. ALS is a fatal, progressive, degenerative disease that breaks down the nerves in the body, weakening muscles and causing eventual paralysis, impacting patients' ability to breathe, speak, and move. There is currently no cure. Dane has affirmed that he wants to continue with his career: 'I am ready and willing to do just about anything, but I have limitations that I understand will preclude me from playing certain roles,' the actor said. 'I'm working on 'Euphoria.' I finished 'Countdown.' As far as that goes, I'm pretty capable.' The first three episodes of 'Countdown' premiere on Prime Video on June 25.
