Marseille make West Ham's Nayef Aguerd priority target

Olympique de Marseille are in the market for at least one centre-back this summer and have made West Ham United's Nayef Aguerd (29) their priority target, according to a report from Foot Mercato.
Marseille's defence was their achilles heel this season and, ahead of next season's UEFA Champions League campaign, it is an area that they are desperate to strengthen, with at least one addition and likely more. Aymeric Laporte, who is expected to terminate his contract with Al-Nassr in the coming days, has been strongly linked with a move to the Vélodrome.

Aguerd, who spent the season on loan at Real Sociedad, is set to leave West Ham this summer and is keen on playing in the Champions League. Real Sociedad wish to keep him but there are other top clubs circling, including Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen. Like the latter, Marseille have made contact with Aguerd's entourage regarding a move. Having already played at Stade Rennais, the Morocco international is open to a return to France.
