AS Roma Sets Sights on Nayef Aguerd for Key Summer Transfer
Rabat – Nayef Aguerd, the 29-year-old Moroccan central defender currently contracted to West Ham United, is entering a critical phase in his career this summer. After a strong season on loan at Real Sociedad, Aguerd has caught the attention of several major European clubs, with AS Roma leading the chase. According to multiple Italian media outlets, AS Roma has made Aguerd a top priority to strengthen their defense. The club's new sporting director, Frédéric Massara, views Aguerd as the perfect fit to bolster Roma's backline. Reports indicate that Roma has already submitted an initial offer to West Ham . However, the capital club faces stiff competition, notably from Juventus, which is reportedly in advanced talks with West Ham to secure the Moroccan international. Marseille is also interested in the defender, but the French club's preference for a loan deal, driven by financial constraints, places them at a disadvantage compared to the Italian sides ready to make a full investment. During the recent season, Aguerd featured in 36 matches across La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the Europa League for Real Sociedad . Known for his physical presence as well as his ability to build play from the back, Aguerd remains a key player for Morocco's Atlas Lions, with over 55 international caps. Other clubs such as Bayer Leverkusen and Atlético Madrid have also shown interest, keeping the competition fierce. The coming weeks are expected to be decisive for Aguerd's future, as Europe's top clubs vie for the talented defender who emerged from the Mohammed VI Academy. West Ham 'approached by Italian giants Juventus over swap deal involving two centre-backs'
West Ham and Juventus are reportedly in discussions over a potential swap deal. Both sides are looking to address their defensive shortcomings this summer and the swap could suit both parties. According to Sky, Juve are keen on 29-year-old Moroccan defender Nayef Aguerd. Aguerd joined the Hammers in a deal worth £30m in 2022 and made 58 appearances over two seasons before being sent out on loan to Real Sociedad for the 2024-25 campaign. The London club could be willing to part ways with the player but want Daniele Rugani in return. Rugani joined Juventus in 2012 but has never quite managed to secure a regular starting role. The 30-year-old has had loan spells with four different clubs during that time and spent last season at Ajax. He is currently with The Old Lady at the Club World Cup but was left on the bench for Wednesday's 5-0 opening win over Al-Ain. Bayer Leverkusen and Marseille have also been linked with a move for Aguerd this summer. Real Sociedad would also be keen to re-signing Aguerd on loan but West Ham would prefer a permanent deal if the 29-year-old was deemed surplus to requirements by Graham Potter.

Juventus holding talks in swap deal for Nayef Aguerd
Serie A giants Juventus are interested in signing West Ham centre-back Nayef Aguerd in the summer transfer window. Gianluca di Marzio has reported that the defender is being closely monitored by the Bianconeri, having spent the previous season on loan at Real Sociedad. Advertisement Juve have already made contact with West Ham over a move and the two parties are talking to each other about the feasibility of a move. The deal can potentially include Daniele Rugani and it can take the form of a swap. The move is only in an initial phase and it can evolve in the next few days, depending on how the talks go. It is clear that the Morocco international is an important target for Juve, who are looking to bolster their backline and can lose more than one centre-back this summer. Rugani spent the previous season on loan at Ajax and is already back with the Juve squad. Kaustubh Pandey I GIFN

Marseille, Bayer Leverkusen Want 29 Year Old West Ham United Defender: What Should The Hammers Do?
Nayef Aguerd arrived in England with high expectations, but his time at West Ham United never took off as hoped. The Moroccan centre-back, signed from Rennes in 2022, showed moments of brilliance at times, but never managed to establish himself as a regular under David Moyes and also not needed by Graham Potter. After a notable loan spell at Real Sociedad during the 2024/25 season, the defender is looking for a change of scenery this summer. Several clubs across the continent have turned their attention to him. The transfer market is ongoing, and Aguerd is at the centre of the attention. The interest in him is no coincidence: he is left-footed, solid in the air and has good ball control. Marseille, Bayer Leverkusen Want West Ham United Defender, Nayef Aguerd According to French media outlet Foot Mercato, Aguerd is on the agenda of four European teams. Real Sociedad wants to keep him after a convincing season. However, it will not be easy. Atlético Madrid are also interested in the 29-year-old centre-back, as are Bayer Leverkusen, who are in need after the departure of Jonathan Tah. And from France, Marseille have already made a move with a formal contract offer. West Ham, who still owns his rights, will have to make a clear decision about his future in the coming weeks, with several options on the table and much to consider. (Photo by) What Should The Hammers Do? The Hammers have an opportunity here that they should not waste. If the player does not fit into their plans, they should capitalise on his market value. It is not advisable to retain a player who wants to leave. Real Sociedad gave him a starring role, Marseille want him to strengthen their defence, and Leverkusen see him as a natural replacement for Tah. If West Ham plays their cards right, they could force a bid exceeding €20 million. But the club must not rest on their laurels: in these markets, passivity is punished. Another less explored angle points to a sale with a buy-back clause or future percentage. This would not close the door on a possible return if Aguerd's performance skyrockets. But if the player has already made up his mind, then it is time to act. Keeping him against his will would do more harm than good.

Marseille make West Ham's Nayef Aguerd priority target
Olympique de Marseille are in the market for at least one centre-back this summer and have made West Ham United's Nayef Aguerd (29) their priority target, according to a report from Foot Mercato. Marseille's defence was their achilles heel this season and, ahead of next season's UEFA Champions League campaign, it is an area that they are desperate to strengthen, with at least one addition and likely more. Aymeric Laporte, who is expected to terminate his contract with Al-Nassr in the coming days, has been strongly linked with a move to the Vélodrome. Advertisement Aguerd, who spent the season on loan at Real Sociedad, is set to leave West Ham this summer and is keen on playing in the Champions League. Real Sociedad wish to keep him but there are other top clubs circling, including Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen. Like the latter, Marseille have made contact with Aguerd's entourage regarding a move. Having already played at Stade Rennais, the Morocco international is open to a return to France.
