TG seeks NOC from Jal Shakti Ministry and A.P. for utilisation of 1,500 tmc ft in Godavari and Krishna
The Telangana Government has sought a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Union Jal Shakti Ministry and neighbouring Andhra Pradesh allowing it to utilise 1,000 tmc ft of Godavari and 500 tmc ft of Krishna water.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has urged Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil to ensure that the Central Government gives its consent for the NOC allowing Telangana to utilise 1,500 tmc ft water as it would suffice to realise the goal of irrigating 1.5 crore acres of land. 'We have no objection if the Centre examines the clearances for projects proposed by Andhra Pradesh after allocating 1,500 tmc ft water from the two rivers,' the Chief Minister told the Union Minister.
He termed as inappropriate the Centre's attitude in responding speedily to the projects proposed by the neighbouring State and neglecting Telangana's projects. This would give scope for apprehensions between the two States that could in turn lead to problematic situations, he said, seeking the Union Minister's cooperation in according clearances to Palamuru-Rangareddy, Tummidihatti and Sammakka-Sarakka projects at the earliest.
Funds for Musi project
The Centre should consider granting funds for the Musi rejuvenation project proposed by the Telangana Government on the lines of similar projects taken up on Ganga and Yamuna rivers.
Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, who briefed reporters after the meeting, said that the Jal Shakti Minister responded positively to the State's request. Mr. Patil told the Chief Minister and the Irrigation Minister that the Centre was yet to receive the detailed project report pertaining to the Godavari-Banakacharla project.
The Union Minister also assured the State delegation that he would take the initiative in convening the meeting of the Apex Council headed by him and comprising the Chief Ministers of the two Telugu States as members soon.

Taking a leap in renewable energy efficiency, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for a 500 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). These standalone storage units will be installed at 15 substations, including Siwan, Muzaffarpur, Bettiah, and Motihari, with capacities ranging from 20 MWh to 80 MWh. Continuing support to housing for all, the Prime Minister will release the first instalment of assistance to more than 53,600 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Urban (PMAY-U). Additionally, PM Modi will hand over keys to select beneficiaries of 6,600 newly completed houses, marking their Grih Pravesh (housewarming). This visit marks PM Modi's second trip to Bihar in less than a month and his fifth this year, reflecting the Centre's growing focus on Bihar's development in the lead-up to the state assembly elections.

On Friday, Shah will inaugurate the Bengaluru Campus of Adichunchanagiri University, further highlighting the Centre's focus on strengthening higher education infrastructure in the region. Those who speak English in India will soon feel ashamed: Shah
New Delhi: Stressing the importance of Indian languages as the soul of the nation's identity, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Thursday that the time has come to reclaim India's linguistic heritage and lead the world with pride in native tongues. Speaking at the book launch of 'Main Boond Swayam, Khud Sagar Hoon', authored by former civil servant, IAS Ashutosh Agnihotri, Shah said, 'In this country, those who speak English will soon feel ashamed -- the creation of such a society is not far away. Only those who are determined can bring about change. I believe that the languages of our country are the jewels of our culture. Without our languages, we cease to be truly Indian.' 'To understand our country, our culture, our history, and our religion, no foreign language can suffice. The idea of a complete India cannot be imagined through half-baked foreign languages. I am fully aware of how difficult this battle is, but I am also fully confident that Indian society will win it. Once again, with self-respect, we will run our country in our own languages and lead the world too,' he said. Outlining the 'Panch Pran' (five pledges), coined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shah said that these five pledges have become the resolve of 130 crore people of the country. 'Modi Ji has laid the foundation of the 'Panch Pran' (five pledges) for the Amrit Kaal. Rarely are they trained to introduce empathy in our system. Maybe because the British era inspired this training model. I believe that if any ruler or administrator rules without empathy, then they cannot achieve the real objective of governance,' Shah said. He also praised literature, saying that it is the soul of our society. 'When our country was consumed in an era of pitch black darkness, even then literature kept the lamps of our religion, freedom, and culture lit. When the government changed, no one opposed it. But whenever someone tried to touch our religion, culture and literature, our society stood against them and defeated them. Literature is the soul of our society,' says Union Home Minister Amit Shah,' he said.
