Chace Crawford Was in 'CW Pretty Boy" Jail Post-Gossip Girl
Gossip Girl basically built the careers of stars Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, and Chace Crawford, but contrary to popular belief, starring in a hit teen TV show isn't always a blessing—especially when it comes to finding your next gig. In a recent interview, Chace opened up about his post-Gossip Girl career, saying he felt like he was stuck in a 'CW pretty boy' jail.
During an appearance on Josh Peck and Ben Soffer's Good Guys podcast, Chace spoke about the misconceptions people had about him when he finished Gossip Girl's six season run.'I felt like I was in the wilderness for years after Gossip Girl,' he said, per Us Weekly. 'As big of a show as it was, coming off [it] as a still young guy, it's like, 'That's not cool anymore,' and I'm in this box. I'm in this jail of the CW pretty boy who has no range.'
The 'CW pretty boy' jail might sound like a dream vacation spot—book me a cell right next to Chad Michael Murray and Scott Speedman, stat!—but for Chace, it was limiting. Looking at his IMDB page, it's not hard to see what the actor is talking about. Though he has consistently been working since Gossip Girl ended in 2012, it took almost seven years before he booked his next big gig, playing The Deep in The Boys.
'I just remember that audition hitting my inbox and reading the synopsis, I was like, 'That sounds wild!' And then reading the pilot, I was like, 'Oh, this is great. This is so out-there and original and weird,'' he recounted of The Boys. The role of The Deep, an earnest, but extremely shallow superhero who can breathe underwater and communicate with sea creatures, immediately stood out. 'I'm like, 'I know that guy. I know a hundred of those guys.' I instantly felt confident and excited about my take on the character.'
As for all those years spent in 'CW pretty boy' jail, they made him all the more grateful for his current gig. 'I was really, really appreciative when this happened,' he said. And, don't worry, guys, he's still pretty. He's just a Prime Video pretty boy now.

REVIEW: New 28 Years Later film, shot in Somerset - worth a watch?
AN AWARD-WINNING cast has helped reignite the horror film genre with the release of the new 28 Years Later Film, partly filmed in Somerset. Here's my review: Entering as the third instalment of an already impressive first two films, 28 Years Later, directed by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland, has delivered one of the best post-apocalyptic survivalist horror-thriller films I have ever watched. A classic opening scene, starring the Teletubbies, shows the infected attacking a young boy named Jimmy at the start of the outbreak. Fast forward 28 years, we follow a slightly dysfunctional family with Scottish father Jamie (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), an ill Geordie mother Isla (Jodie Comer), and their son Spike (Alfie Williams) - all living on an island with those who aren't infected. Jamie takes Spike on his first outing to the mainland, where we see him praise his son for getting his first infected kill - wiping out a rather fat infected with a bow and arrow. The two then run into trouble, nearly getting killed by an 'Alpha' infected in the process before making it back to the island. A drunken party then follows, where we see Spike fall out with his father, and if you've watched the film, I think you'll agree this is fair. (Image: PA Media) This emotional journey between mother and son is my personal highlight of the whole film. It makes this film unique and makes you realise that there is more to the plot than just the infected vs humanity. Danny Boyle has changed it up from the first two films, and I'll say it's paid off, for sure. We then meet arguably the best character of the film, the 'insane' Doctor Ian Kelson, played by Ralph Fiennes. Known for playing Voldemort in Harry Potter and Chef Slowik in The Menu, Ralph's character helps tie the story together well, with a stand-out performance. I'm in shock at how this film has a 15 age rating, mainly due to Ralph's character and the amount of nudity and gore we get after Spike and Isla leave the island. However, I'm not complaining about the latter, as the kills/violent scenes have come a long way since 28 Days Later was released in 2002. The signature head-ripping off kills are gruesome yet awesome - watch just for this. In parts, 28 Years Later does lack a bit of flow to the storyline, but the strong cast all pay off - including Swedish soldier, Erik Sundqvist, who was effortlessly funny. Spoiler alert - Keeping a keen eye out for when Somerset's Cheddar Gorge would appear, I was a bit sad to only see it featured towards the end of the film. The aerial shots of the gorge are beautiful, and it was 100% a good choice to use it as a set for a film like this. Good news for Somerset, though, as it looks like Danny Boyle and the cast of 28 Years Later will be returning to the southwest county again, after the film was left there on a cliffhanger ending. I would've liked to have seen more of actor Jack O'Connell, who plays Sir Jimmy Crystal, as I think he's a great actor, particularly in Sinners and Skins, among other shows. Overall, this film is a testament to the amazing director that is Danny Boyle, and Jodie Comer's performance is definitely worth some sort of award. Nice to see that 28 Days Later star Cillian Murphy was the executive producer. It would be great to see him on-screen again if there are future films in the pipeline - 4.5/5.

'White Lotus' star Jason Isaacs reflected on managing money 'immaturely.' A financial planner breaks down how to avoid doing the same.
For a movie star, Jason Isaacs says his financial situation isn't what you'd expect. "People will think I have huge stockpiles of money," the "White Lotus" star told Vulture in an interview published on June 16. "But sadly, what I've done rather immaturely is expand my outgoings to match my incomings and pretty much spent everything I've earned over the years." The English actor has more than 168 credits on IMDB dating back to 1988, including iconic roles such as Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter film adaptations and Col. William Tavington in the 2000 hit "The Patriot." But while Isaacs has long enjoyed a high-powered and lucrative career — Business Insider previously reported he, and every other top-billed actor on the show, earned $40,000 per episode of "White Lotus" — his admission is indicative of a common financial misstep that plagues high-earners: lifestyle creep. "It's really common to have lifestyle creep, and it's basically this phenomenon: When you earn more money, you spend more money," Robert Persichitte, a certified financial planner, told Business Insider. "People will see extra money in their bank account, and then they'll spend it, and then they get used to it, and it gets kind of locked into your lifestyle — and it becomes really, really difficult to get out of it." Representatives for Isaacs did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider. 'Do you want to be rich, or do you want to be wealthy?' Lifestyle creep is most insidious when you begin spending your extra income on big-ticket items like expensive cars, fancy homes, or recurring subscription expenses like gym memberships, Persichitte said. That's not to say more modest luxuries like spa services or a trendy wardrobe can't add up, but he said those types of transactions are easier to stop splurging on if your financial situation changes. "It's a very common scenario: You get somebody who has their first high-paying job, and they get excited, they go out and spend it, and then about six months later, they realize they hate that high-paying job," Persichitte said. "If you bought a new car or bought a new house, that is a very, very difficult decision to walk back." Isaacs is far from the only celebrity to experience a problem with lifestyle creep. Al Pacino, in his 2024 autobiography, said he went from a $50 million fortune to "broke" because he didn't control his spending. Other stars — from Michael Jackson to Mike Tyson — have also racked up tremendous amounts of debt despite having multimillion-dollar incomes. While it may be tempting to adopt a more lavish lifestyle or emulate your favorite celebrity's spending habits if you receive a promotion or financial windfall, Persichitte cautions against it. Persichitte recalled a 2008 Time interview with Flo Rida, in which the rapper said mogul Rick Ross advised that, in order to make more money, Flo Rida should spend "with the confidence of someone who knows he's going to make a lot more." "I wouldn't recommend that," Persichitte said. "And the logic to me is: Do you want to be rich, or do you want to be wealthy?" The difference is that a rich person's financial situation hinges on their next paycheck, which means a job loss or emergency or an impending prison sentence — which was likely in the future for Isaacs' character in "White Lotus" — could make it all crumble. In comparison, Persichitte said, a wealthy person has long-term stability because they've prioritized sound investments that allow them more control over their finances. The easiest way to avoid lifestyle creep is to have a plan for your money so it's not just sitting in your bank account, Persichitte said. Whether that be a 401(k) or locking some portion of your funds away in a CD account, nearly anything is better than having your liquid cash available in your checking account — but "the more invisible, the better," he added. "The further away you can keep that money from the checking account, the less likely you are going to have that lifestyle creep," Persichitte said. "If your net pay doesn't go up, you don't feel rich, and you don't feel the need to spend." Speaking to Vulture, Isaacs said that he has turned down multiple roles over the years that would have offered him a more substantial nest egg to lean back on. While he said he doesn't regret the moves "careerwise or artistically," he acknowledged it is a financial sore spot for him. "There's a number of things I could have done over the years that would've made me rich," Isaacs said. "And now that I'm toward the autumn of my career, I think maybe I'm an idiot and I should have done some of those things and just banked it, because other people do."

'The Boys' Jensen Ackles Excited for Reunion With ‘Supernatural' Co-Star in Season 5
When the 15-season run of the popular series Supernatural came to a close, many fans were disappointed for several reasons. One was that the duo of Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester) and Jared Padalecki (Sam) would be no more. However, Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, who also leads the way in the hit Amazon Prime Video series The Boys, ensured that wouldn't be the case. Padalecki was cast in the upcoming Season 5 of The Boys, and previously revealed to TV Insider that he would be featured in the same storyline, frame and interacting with Ackles, along with another Supernatural co-star, Misha Collins. 'It's a blast," Kripke said. "We already shot it. I will confirm that Jared, Jensen, and Misha are all in the same frame together, and in the same storyline, and interacting with each other.' While speaking with Collider about his new series, Countdown, Ackles addressed the reunion with his former co-star, Padalecki, on The Boys, and the excitement about working together again was obvious. 'There's a reason he and I did that show for 15 years because we truly got along, we truly enjoy working together, and we're effectively brothers in real life, too," Ackles said. "So anytime we get a chance to mix it up and do stuff, it's always a blast. He's the best. You can put us two in front of anything; we'll get the job done.'
