Old Town Arts Festival returns: Here's all the events you shouldn't miss
One of Swindon's biggest festivals, which made its comeback last year, is preparing to hit the streets again with over 30 events.
The Old Town Arts Festival had been a key event on Swindon's calendar for more than 24 years, but it was put on hold in 2020 when the world entered a global pandemic.
After making a successful comeback in 2024, the festival is now preparing to return to town from Saturday, June 1, 2025, for a whole week of free or cheap family events.
The festival will kick off at the start of June with a family fun day in Town Gardens offering food, drink, live music, workshops, market stalls and more.
Celebrations will then continue throughout the week with a variety of fringe events, all centred around the arts, before concluding on June 8 with a street party for all on Wood Street.

"A variety of locations and activities will be on offer, whilst honouring the spirit and essence of what the festival was all about - bringing Old Town together."
Here's the full schedule and location of the 2025 festival events, which you won't want to miss.

Pirates of the Caribbean Producer Confirms Returning Cast
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors It's been eight years since "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales", and the sixth movie has been in development ever since. Now, thanks to an interview with ScreenRant, we know a little bit more about the long-brewing sequel. According to "Pirates" producer Jerry Bruckheimer, "Pirates of the Caribbean 6" will be a new take on the franchise, but it will also bring back some of the fan-favorite cast. Bruckheimer was mum about who exactly is coming back, however. Read More: 'Star Trek' Icon Teases Possible 'Spaceballs 2' Return Asked about "Pirates 6" while promoting the upcoming "F1", Bruckheimer told ScreenRant, "We're working on a screenplay. Hopefully we'll get it right — and then we'll make it. We really want to make it, that's for sure." Asked if it would be a continuation or not, Bruckheimer answered, "It'll be a new take on it." "New take, new actors?" the interviewer asked. Bruckheimer responded, "Well, not all new actors. We'll have some back ... I'm not going to tell you which ones — you'll have to guess." Bruckheimer's words on the subject seem to confirm that while "Pirates of the Caribbean 6" will be a "new take" on the franchise, it won't completely reboot the story considering some of the same actors are returning. A wealth of actors have jumped in and out of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise since the 2003 debut of "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl", but no doubt there are three actors in particular most fans are wondering about: Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, and Johnny Depp. Bloom himself recently commented on the possibility of returning to the franchise and seemed to like the idea of all three coming back. "Well, I don't know, I can't say anything at the moment because I really don't know, but there's definitely availability," Bloom said. "I think they're trying to work out what it would all look like, I personally think it'd be great to get the band back together. That would be great, but there are always different ideas, and so we'll see where it lands." Regardless of where it lands there is no doubt plenty of interest in seeing a new "Pirates of the Caribbean" on the big screen. The five previous movies pulled in a total of $4.5 billion at the box office. Orlando Bloom Was ‘Frustrated' With Katy Perry for Going to Space, Claims ‘Source'
A new report has shed light on the recent alleged tense dynamics between and . It has been two months since the singer-songwriter faced criticism for her participation in the controversial Blue Origin mission. According to a new report, Perry's longtime fiancé and baby daddy, Bloom, was also not in favor of her going on the minutes-long journey to space. The disagreement reportedly led to a rift between the couple. Orlando Bloom may have seen the criticism coming for Katy Perry's journey to space during the Blue Origin mission, a new report has claimed. On April 14, the 40-year-old singer joined an all-female crew for the 11-minute voyage, which drew immense backlash. Following that, Perry turned her attention toward her awaited 'The Lifetimes Tour.' Now, the 'E.T.' hitmaker has yet again found herself in the middle of fresh rumors in recent weeks. This time, it is about Perry having relationship troubles with her fiancé, Bloom. According to a new report, the 'Dark Horse' crooner's controversial space trip may have led to tense dynamics between the couple. The U.S. Sun exclusively learned from a source that from the start, Bloom 'didn't think going on the Blue Origin mission was a good idea.' The source also added that the 48-year-old actor 'knew' that Perry was going to 'face backlash.' They continued to claim that Bloom 'always thought it was a stupid idea.' Moreover, the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' actor also believed that Perry 'wouldn't get anything positive out of it.' Bloom may have been right. Perry found herself in hot water as the short space mission was widely criticised. The source also told The U.S. Sun that the disagreement between the couple, who share a daughter, took a toll on Bloom. They alleged, 'He has been frustrated that his opinion is not being taken seriously or even heard.' The source also claimed that Bloom 'feels' Perry is a 'different person lately.' It is worth highlighting that the claims about Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom's relationship came from reported insiders. The couple has yet to address the speculations. Orlando Bloom Was 'Frustrated' With Katy Perry's Space Trip As He Allegedly Didn't 'Approve' Of It Amid Tensions
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom were reportedly not on the same page regarding her recent all-female trip to space. This revelation comes amid reports suggesting the couple is going through a rough patch in their relationship. Sources now claim Orlando Bloom "did not approve" of the trip and was "frustrated" and "disappointed" by Katy Perry's decision to embark on it regardless. Several cracks seem to have formed in Perry and Bloom's romance amid reports that their relationship has ended. Following her 11-minute all-female space trip on Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin spacecraft, Perry gushed in a radio interview that her fiancé, Bloom, was "all about the journey." However, a source has now revealed that the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor "did not approve" of it as he never thought "going on the mission was a good idea." Speaking to The U.S. Sun, the insider went further to explain that Bloom "knew she would get backlash" from the mission and was "frustrated" and "disappointed" with her decision to take part in it. "From day one, Orlando didn't think going on the Blue Origin mission was a good idea, and knew she would face backlash," the source said. "He always thought it was a stupid idea, and she wouldn't get anything positive out of it." The "Roar" hitmaker joined the all-female crew comprising Aisha Bowe, Lauren Sanchez, Kerianne Flynn, Gayle King, and Amanda Nguyen for the April 15 flight despite her fiancé's alleged reservations. While en route, she held up a daisy seemingly in a bid to honor her and Bloom's daughter, Daisy. Upon her return, she stopped to kiss the ground, but was ridiculed by many who thought the trip was "unnecessary" and her actions afterwards were "dramatic." Even celebrities, such as Emily Ratajkowski and Olivia Munn, didn't hold back with their criticisms of the all-female space trip. "That space mission this morning. That's end time sh-t. This is beyond parody," Ratajkowski fumed. "Saying that you care about Mother Earth and it's about Mother Earth and you're going up in a spaceship that is built and paid for by a company that's single-handedly destroying the planet?" "Look at the state of the world and think about how many resources went into putting these women into space. For what? What was the marketing there?" She added. It appears Bloom has reached his breaking point amid the underlying tensions in his relationship, with a source sharing that the actor needs space from Perry. The disagreements between them are said to have made the "Lord of the Rings" actor believe Perry "doesn't take him seriously." "He has been frustrated that his opinion is not being taken seriously or even heard," the source continued. "He feels she is a different person lately." According to the news outlet, the insider also confirmed rumors that the pair have hit a "rough patch" in their relationship and are now leading separate lives. The 48-year-old actor has repeatedly been spending time alone and arrived without Perry at the "Deep Cover" premiere during the 2025 Tribeca Festival on June 10 in New York City. The negative and harsh criticism Perry has been facing seemingly took a toll on her and their relationship, as a source told Page Six that "it's over" between them and they "are waiting till her tour is over before they split." The underwhelming reception of her recent album, "143," also didn't help matters, as the project was critically panned, which seemingly resulted in low ticket sales at some of her tour's venues. A source told People Magazine that the poor reception to her album negatively affected her and caused "some tension" in her relationship with Bloom. "Katy was deeply frustrated following the reception of her new album," a source told the news outlet. "It made her very stressed. Orlando was understanding, but it did cause some tension." "She was also disappointed in some of the tour reviews. It's put stress on their relationship," another source said. Perry is currently on her Lifetimes world tour, which began on April 23 and runs through December 7. Perry and Bloom's relationship has faced challenging times before, following their split in 2017. Addressing the breakup in a 2024 appearance on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast, the "Teenage Dreams" singer said both of them "weren't really in it from day one." "He was because he had just done a huge time of celibacy, and he had set intentions," Perry continued. "I was fresh out of a relationship, and I was like, I can't do this anymore. I need to swim in a different pond, but I had to do a lot of real work." In 2023, Bloom also addressed the challenges he and Perry faced in their relationship, insinuating that their different career paths could be a factor in the issues they have encountered. "We're in two very different pools [for their work]. Her pool is not a pool that I necessarily understand, and I think my pool is not a pool that she necessarily understands," Bloom told Flaunt. The "Lord Of The Rings" actor continued: "Sometimes things are really, really, really challenging. I won't lie. We definitely battle with our emotions and creativity." "I think we're both aware of how blessed we are to have uniquely connected in the way that we did at the time that we did. And there's definitely never a dull moment," he added.
