Kaizer Chiefs' first opponents of the season revealed!

Kaizer Chiefs are staring at a potentially very busy 2025/26 season after qualifying for continental football.
Chiefs had a mixed season where they won their first trophy in 10 years, but missed out on a top eight finish.
Missing out on a top eight finish means that Chiefs will be spared extra games in the form the MTN8. But they're expected to travel the continent and have those extra fixtures through the CAF Confederation Cup. That potentially rigorous schedule will need the best preparations from the team who have announced their pre-season plans.
This publication had previously revealed that Chiefs will be back in Europe for their pre-season. The club revealed that they are set to head to the Netherlands for their season's preparations. They are set to start their program there on the 3rd of July. They will be spending a fortnight in Europe as they end their trip on the 19th. Last time out, they were in Turkey for a similar period. Although it was their first pre-season under Nasreddine Nabi, the Tunisian joined the team with their program under way.
This time around, Nabi will be there from the start and will oversee some matches. Chiefs' first fixture of the turn of the season has already been unveiled. They are set to take on Dutch side FC Utrecht, who confirmed the fixture themselves.
'The most popular club in South Africa will be the opponent: Kaizer Chiefs. This match will also be played behind closed doors,' wrote a statement from FC Utrecht. This fixture is set to take place on the 11th of July. It is unclear if it will be broadcasted.

Kaizer Chiefs close in on Sundowns forgotten man Etiosa Ighodaro

Kaizer Chiefs have reignited their pursuit of Etiosa Ighodaro and look set to secure the Mamelodi Sundowns striker ahead of their crucial pre-season preparations in the Netherlands. The Soweto giants previously tried to lure Ighodaro when he impressed during his loan spell at Chippa United. However, Mamelodi Sundowns blocked the deal and instead sent the Nigerian forward to SuperSport United. Now, Amakhosi are back in the race, and this time, they appear determined to get their man. Ighodaro has officially applied for a visa to travel to the Netherlands, fuelling speculation that a move to Kaizer Chiefs is imminent. The 2025/2026 season looms, and Amakhosi's intent to bolster their attacking line-up is clear. After scoring six goals on loan at AmaZulu FC last season, Ighodaro finds himself out of favour at Sundowns, potentially clearing the path for a permanent switch to Naturena. A trusted insider revealed that they have shifted towards Ighodaro because main target Fiston Mayele reportedly has no intention of moving to South Africa to ply his trade. 'Chiefs have made it clear that they need a striker before they start their pre-season training camp in the Netherlands and Ighodaro is that man, given the difficulties of getting Mayele.' The club's management continues to scout the market aggressively, but Ighodaro has emerged as the leading candidate to spearhead the attack under new leadership. With the Dutch tour fast approaching, Kaizer Chiefs look ready to strike, and this time, they won't let Ighodaro slip through their fingers. Will Ighodaro fit in at Kaizer Chiefs? Kaizer Chiefs target SuperSport United star Siphesihle Ndlovu

Kaizer Chiefs have intensified their transfer activity by pursuing Siphesihle Ndlovu, currently on the books of SuperSport United. The dynamic midfielder, who made 30 appearances last season, chipped in with two goals and two assists, catching the eye of Amakhosi scouts. Ndlovu arrived at SuperSport United in 2023 following a stint with Orlando Pirates, but his contract expires at the end of June 2025, a detail that has placed him firmly on Kaizer Chiefs' radar. 'They want a midfielder to complement Thabo Cele, and Ndlovu fits that profile. Also they are still deciding whether or not to sign Sipho Mbule, and that would make their midfield really strong. With Ox Mthethwa also ending the season in a good way,' said a source close to the deal. While Chiefs haven't officially announced them yet, they've already secured the signatures of Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako. Both former Pirates defenders are expected to add quality and depth to the backline ahead of the 2025/2026 campaign. Amakhosi aren't done shopping just yet. The club also aims to land a striker, with Etiosa Ighodaro emerging as the top candidate to lead the line. Chiefs appear keen on assembling a squad capable of competing across all fronts in the new season. If Kaizer Chiefs succeed in signing Siphesihle Ndlovu, it could prove to be a game-changing addition, particularly alongside Thabo Cele. Should Sipho Mbule also join, the Soweto giants would boast one of the most well-rounded midfields in the Betway Premiership.
