Kaizer Chiefs' first opponents of the season revealed!

Kaizer Chiefs are staring at a potentially very busy 2025/26 season after qualifying for continental football. Chiefs had a mixed season where they won their first trophy in 10 years, but missed out on a top eight finish. Missing out on a top eight finish means that Chiefs will be spared extra games in the form the MTN8. But they're expected to travel the continent and have those extra fixtures through the CAF Confederation Cup. That potentially rigorous schedule will need the best preparations from the team who have announced their pre-season plans. This publication had previously revealed that Chiefs will be back in Europe for their pre-season. The club revealed that they are set to head to the Netherlands for their season's preparations. They are set to start their program there on the 3rd of July. They will be spending a fortnight in Europe as they end their trip on the 19th. Last time out, they were in Turkey for a similar period. Although it was their first pre-season under Nasreddine Nabi, the Tunisian joined the team with their program under way. This time around, Nabi will be there from the start and will oversee some matches. Chiefs' first fixture of the turn of the season has already been unveiled. They are set to take on Dutch side FC Utrecht, who confirmed the fixture themselves. 'The most popular club in South Africa will be the opponent: Kaizer Chiefs. This match will also be played behind closed doors,' wrote a statement from FC Utrecht. This fixture is set to take place on the 11th of July. It is unclear if it will be broadcasted. Nasreddine Nabi leads Chiefs into pre-season with Dutch tour

Nasreddine Nabi and Kaizer Chiefs will officially return for pre-season training on Friday, 20 June, as per FARPost. As they build on the 2025/2026 campaign following their Nedbank Cup triumph. Nabi's continued presence at the helm puts an end to recent speculation about his future. The Tunisian tactician, who steered the club to silverware for the first time in a decade by defeating Orlando Pirates in the 2025 Nedbank Cup final, remains firmly in charge. Kaizer Chiefs' victory in the Nedbank Cup not only restored pride at Naturena but also fulfilled one of Nabi's major mandates, ending the club's long-standing trophy drought. The triumph came despite a disappointing league finish that saw Chiefs miss out on the top eight. However, they still secured qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup, offering a vital continental platform for the new season. Nabi's technical team will oversee the first training session at the Kaizer Chiefs Village in Naturena. Players will begin with medical assessments, before shifting focus to fitness work and tactical drills. While most of the squad will return on Friday, a few players are expected to join on Monday. Amakhosi have announced a European pre-season tour, with a camp scheduled in the Netherlands from 3 to 19 July. While Chiefs have yet to reveal their match schedule during the trip, the overseas stint signals their ambition to sharpen up against European opposition. The club has officially parted ways with Sabelo Radebe, Ranga Chivaviro, Edmilson Dove, and Njabulo Blom. Blom returns to St. Louis City SC in Major League Soccer following the expiry of his loan deal. Several more departures look imminent. Mduduzi Mdantsane, Fiacre Ntwari, George Matlou, and Edson Castillo are all reportedly on the verge of leaving Naturena, as Chiefs clear space for fresh talent. While the club has not formally announced any new signings. A source revealed that former Orlando Pirates defenders Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako have joined Kaizer Chiefs. There are new players coming to Kaizer Chiefs for next season as Amakhosi look to challenge in the Betway Premiership and the CAF Confederation Cup. Images: DStv 'I was surprised when I heard that Monyane had been released by Pirates. They have invested a lot in him from their development and for them to let him go just like that I don't understand,' Khanye told Soccer Laduma . FIFA Club World Cup: What time is the Sundowns match? 'Yes, he was not playing regularly but there are players like Thabiso Lebitso who just played a few games and got injured. Why keep Lebitso and release Monyane? It's like sending your child to school, pay school fees, finish school and when they are not working then you abandon them… Full story here. In case you've missed it. Former Mamelodi Sundowns superstar Percy Tau is home after leaving Qatar SC in May, while Kaizer Chiefs are in the market for experienced attackers. The Emalahleni-born player made only 10 appearances in the Qatar Stars League, which included four assists. It's no secret that Kaizer Chiefs are actively scanning the market for experienced forwards, especially a superbly experienced player like Percy Tau, who has won CAF Champions League titles with teams like Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly, while also fetching an AFCON bronze medal with Bafana Bafana. 'In the past few seasons Chiefs have not been doing well despite winning a trophy last season and they need players who will help them change the team's fortunes,' Mphela told Soccer Laduma . Latest update: Bafana winger to Orlando Pirates 'But I don't think signing Percy Tau will be the solution if you look at the history of most former Sundowns players who joined Chiefs, including myself. We don't live up to expectations. There are a lot of expectations, and that puts pressure on the players….' Full story here. Kaizer Chiefs set to show fan favourite the door?

Kaizer Chiefs are working on revamping their squad ahead of a potentially busy 2025/26 season with a continental charge. Despite losing out on a top eight finish last season, Chiefs still qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup. This came courtesy of their 2-1 victory over arch rivals Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final. That also earned Chiefs their first trophy since 2015. Now both of those feats will necessitate change in the playing squad. The punished on some for a lack of quality which led to a lack of contribution. But also them having to make way for a better quality due to a higher level required on the continent. There have been quite a few rumours with regards to who Chiefs are targeting. But before those players come in, they're moving quickly to free up some space. Last week, they announced the departures of academy products Sabelo Radebe and Njabulo Blom. Following that, they have also confirmed the release of striker Ranga Chivaviro. Now according to Soccer-Laduma , midfielder Samkelo Zwane could be next out the door at Chiefs on loan. 'Soccer Laduma understands that the central midfield is a key department that Nabi wants to bolster and this could have a negative effect on Samkelo Zwane, who did not get much game time in the past season. With new faces expected to join (Chiefs), competition for Zwane will be even harder. Soccer Laduma understands Zwane's camp will meet up with management at Naturena to get some clarity on whether the player fits into the plans of the technical team. While the player is determined to fight for a spot in the team, his camp is aware of what not getting regular game time can do to his career.' Wrote the publication. Chiefs fans, how do you feel about Zwane possibly leaving on loan? Let us know by clicking on the comment tab. Or by emailing info@ or sending a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1.
