'Rakshas Raj in Bihar': Tejashwi Yadav slams NDA government after gunfire outside his Patna residence

PATNA: Two motorcycle-borne criminals opened fire at a youth near the high-security Polo Road, adjacent to the official residence of Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, in the state capital on Thursday.
The victim, Rahul Kumar, fortunately escaped unhurt as the bullets missed their target. However, the miscreants managed to snatch Rs 450 from his pocket.
Polo Road is a high-security zone that houses the residences of ministers, MLAs and senior bureaucrats. The Raj Bhawan and the chief minister's residence are also a stone's throw away from the site of the incident. The daylight firing has raised serious concerns over the law and order situation in Patna.
The incident occurred just hours before young IPS officer Kartikey Sharma took charge as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Patna. Sharma replaced Avakash Kumar, who was removed from the post allegedly for his failure to control crime in the capital. Prior to this posting, Sharma was the SP of Purnea.
Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav seized the opportunity to launch a scathing attack on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the NDA government. Recalling the incident, Tejashwi said, 'There is complete lawlessness. It's a reign of criminals. There is no sign of governance left, and the Chief Minister has lost all authority.'

Over 2000 people receive welfare aid worth Rs 30 crore under Makkaludan Mudhalvar scheme in TN's Cuddalore

CUDDALORE: Welfare assistance worth Rs 30.09 crore was distributed to 2,254 beneficiaries as part of the third phase of special camps under the Makkaludan Mudhalvar scheme in Cuddalore district. The event, inaugurated by Labour Welfare and Skill Development Minister CV Ganesan on Thursday was held in the presence of Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar, Cuddalore MP MK Vishnu Prasad, and Neyveli MLA Saba Rajendran. The camps were organised at Thiruvamur Government Higher Secondary School, Visur Union Middle School, Kattukoodalur Government Higher Secondary School, R Kannusamy Higher Secondary School in Kadampuliyur, and Pattirakottai Government Higher Secondary School. Minister Ganesan said, 'To simplify access to government services and ensure timely delivery, the Chief Minister launched the Makkaludan Mudhalvar scheme. In Cuddalore district, two phases have already been completed. Under the third phase, 90 camps—10 in each Assembly constituency—are being held in panchayat areas with higher Scheduled Caste populations. So far, 20 camps have been completed, and five are being conducted today in the Neyveli constituency.' The minister further said, 'These camps bring various government departments to a single location near the people's residences in rural areas. Citizens can submit petitions for services such as old-age pension, patta transfer, Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme card, family card, Aadhaar correction, and financial assistance. All petitions will be reviewed, and eligible ones will be addressed within 30 days.'

Just hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's scheduled visit to Bihar, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav fired off 12-pointed questions, challenging the Prime Minister to answer them during his speech, according to the official statement. The sharp political attack, posted on Friday early morning, aimed to highlight what Yadav called the failures of the BJP-led governments at both the state and central levels. In a strongly worded open letter addressed directly to the Prime Minister, Tejashwi Yadav alleged that PM Modi has repeatedly made false promises to the people of Bihar and demanded accountability on issues ranging from poverty and unemployment to corruption and law and order.
