'Rakshas Raj in Bihar': Tejashwi Yadav slams NDA government after gunfire outside his Patna residence
PATNA: Two motorcycle-borne criminals opened fire at a youth near the high-security Polo Road, adjacent to the official residence of Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, in the state capital on Thursday. The victim, Rahul Kumar, fortunately escaped unhurt as the bullets missed their target. However, the miscreants managed to snatch Rs 450 from his pocket. Polo Road is a high-security zone that houses the residences of ministers, MLAs and senior bureaucrats. The Raj Bhawan and the chief minister's residence are also a stone's throw away from the site of the incident. The daylight firing has raised serious concerns over the law and order situation in Patna. The incident occurred just hours before young IPS officer Kartikey Sharma took charge as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Patna. Sharma replaced Avakash Kumar, who was removed from the post allegedly for his failure to control crime in the capital. Prior to this posting, Sharma was the SP of Purnea. Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav seized the opportunity to launch a scathing attack on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the NDA government. Recalling the incident, Tejashwi said, 'There is complete lawlessness. It's a reign of criminals. There is no sign of governance left, and the Chief Minister has lost all authority.'

Tejashwi pays tribute to ‘Operation Sindoor' martyrs in Buxar
Buxar: Leader of opposition in the state assembly, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav , on Wednesday visited Narbatpur in Chausa to pay tributes to ' Operation Sindoor ' martyrs. Tejashwi met the bereaved families of Havildar Sunil Yadav and CRPF jawan Jaishankar Chaudhary—both residents of Chausa. He hailed their supreme sacrifices. Tejashwi said that while financial aid has been extended to martyrs' families, the state should do more to honour their legacy. "A memorial must be built in their names so that future generations understand the value of their sacrifice," he said. He said he has requested the Union home minister for memorials for martyred soldiers, but he was yet to receive a response. Yadav also met the family of late Arjun Yadav, district president of the RJD labour cell, who was recently shot dead by unidentified criminals near the Chausa thermal power plant on May 26. He offered condolences to families who lost loved ones in a recent lightning strike in Chausa. He alleged that RJD workers were being targetted in the state.

Tejashwi launches portal to connect with people
1 2 Patna: With the assembly elections just a few months away, RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Monday launched a new digital platform – – and urged people to come together to "build a new Bihar". "Volunteers will work online through this 'Digital Force' portal. We will take it to the people. Join us and build a new Bihar," he said. Tejashwi said the RJD had a broad vision for the state's future. "We are new people, who are concerned for the people's issues. We will become their voice. This time the people of Bihar will elect a new govt, which has a vision. We feel pain that our state is the poorest and there is no industry in Bihar," he said. The leader of the opposition in the state assembly said the portal has been launched to take the party's message and initiatives directly to the people. Citizens could register using social media platforms or Gmail IDs. "One photo and general information will have to be given, like date of birth, the Lok Sabha–assembly constituency one belongs to, etc," he added. Criticising the state govt, Tejashwi said people were frustrated with the regime that had been in power for two decades. "People want change. There is no trust in the old govt. People want to get rid of it," he said. Tejashwi admitted that the work done during the 17 months of the Mahagathbandhan govt accounted for "not even 2%" of his plans. "There is a lot of work to be done ahead," he said. Responding to BJP allegations that his father, Lalu Prasad, had insulted Dr B R Ambedkar on his birth anniversary on June 11, Tejashwi denied the charge. "The RJD chief has not insulted anyone. Has Amit Shah apologised for anything till date?" he asked. Accusing the state govt of sidelining capable administrators, he said, "Good officers are being thrown out."

Tejashwi slams state govt over ‘nepotism' in key appointments
1 2 Patna: Leader of the opposition in Bihar assembly, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav , on Sunday accused the state govt of "gross nepotism" in recent appointments to various commissions. Addressing a press conference, Tejashwi released the names of people recently appointed to the Bihar State Women Commission and as Group A panel counsel for central govt litigation in the Supreme Court for a three-year term. According to him, one appointee is the wife of a retired bureaucrat with close ties to those in power while two others are daughters of a ruling party leader similarly connected. Citing these appointments, Tejashwi criticised PM Narendra Modi as well. "The PM lectures us on parivarvaad (nepotism), but just look at what is happening in Bihar under his ally's rule," he said. He went on to mock the govt's approach. "The sons-in-law of three top leaders in Bihar were appointed as the chairman, vice-chairman and member of various commissions recently formed. If the appointments are being made in this manner, the govt should promptly establish a dedicated 'Sons-in-law Commission' so that the remaining sons-in-law can also be included in positions of benefit by the ruling party," he said. Tejashwi also demanded transparency regarding state-facilitated opportunities for relatives of officials. He asked the govt to disclose how many wives of government officials were given government jobs, how many children of officials were sent abroad using public funds, how many have launched consultancy firms, and how many have invested in land and assets overseas. City R-Block sports facility falls into disuse just 18 months after inauguration
1 2 3 4 Patna: The state-of-the-art sports facility constructed beneath a flyover in the city's R-Block area has fallen into disrepair just 18 months after its inauguration. The facility, developed at a cost of Rs 22 lakh through a bank's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding, was designed to provide recreational space for local residents and promote physical fitness. The project, inaugurated by then deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad Yadav in Oct 2023, initially garnered attention when he played cricket at the venue. However, since then, the facility remains largely unused and locked, with minimal public access. The 5,000 square feet space features a 2,000 square feet badminton court and a 3,000 square feet cricket ground, complete with iron fencing, benches and decorative lighting. The initiative was inspired by similar successful projects in Navi Mumbai and Ghaziabad. The court was developed by the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC). Tejashwi came here, played cricket, and hit fours and sixes, but after his visit, people were never seen playing here. It always remains locked. Initially, its condition was fine, but now there is no one to maintain it. The PMC organised a match here, but it was only for the staff and officials. Patna municipal commissioner, Animesh Kumar Parashar, acknowledged the maintenance issue, stating, "The facility has suffered due to lack of regular activities. We are planning to revitalise the space with weekly matches every Saturday." He also announced plans to upgrade the facility, including replacing the damaged selfie point with a new stone structure using materials brought from Rajasthan, and later developing an open gym here. The PMC has also developed the area under the flyover from R-Block roundabout to Patna Junction, where earlier the traffic used to move at a snail's pace. There was no parking space for the vehicles as the space under the flyover was occupied by local vendors and makeshift stalls. So the PMC decided to take it in its possession. The project was part of a larger initiative to utilise spaces under flyovers effectively. Similar sports facilities were proposed for locations near Gaighat Judicial Academy, Rajendra Nagar bridge and Raja Bazar flyover, though these plans are yet to materialise.
