Raut presents copy of his book to Pawar, Shinde Sena says ‘invitation to go to jail'
As Sena UBT MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday handed a copy of his book ''Narkatala Swarg' (Heaven in the Hell), which details his three-month jail term after the ED arrest, to NCP(SP) chief Sharad Pawar, Shinde Sena took a jibe at the meeting terming it as Raut's 'invitation to Pawar to go to jail'.
Sanjay Shirsat, spokesperson of Deputy CM Eknath Shinde -led Shiv Sena, said that there could be two meanings behind the meeting.
'One, he must be telling Pawar that you go to jail, you will be able to see the heaven. The second meaning could be that Raut had been to the jail for three months, he has seen the heaven and he is much experienced now…The government should take serious cognisance of this and should once again send Raut to jail. He will then get another idea to write another book,' Shirsat said.
Raut, who met Pawar at his residence in Mumbai, also urged the NCP(SP) chief to attend the book release function to be held in Mumbai on May 17.
The book details experiences of his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in 2022 and his imprisonment. He was arrested on August 1, 2022, in the connection with the alleged irregularities in the Rs 1,034-crore Patra Chawl Development case in West Goregaon in Mumbai.
The court had granted him bail after 100 days while describing his arrest as ''illegal'.
Raut said the book will be released in presence of his party chief and former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Sharad Pawar and Trinamool Congress MP Saket Gokhale will also attend the event.
In a social media post, Pawar said,' Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut met me at my residence and invited me to attend the function for his book release. During the meeting, we discussed various state and national issues. I wishes all tthe good luck for his future endeavours.'
Speaking about his book, Raut said, book exposes the way the ED carried out his arrest and how the government went all-out to silence him.
'I was framed in a false case. This was done intentionally and brazenly to muzzle my freedom of speech. Every word that I spoke had a grain of truth in it and it hurts the powers-that-be who conspired to put him in jail. I had full faith in our judiciary which again upheld the truth and called the bluff of the rulers, he said.
'Though the government sent me to the hell, people like me did not bend or come to the knees. They could not break me, my values and my honesty. The book will inspire those who fight for democracy,' the Sena UBT leader added.
However, Raut the book does not intend to make any explosive revealation. 'Narrating the real life experiences does not mean explosive revelation. Whatever I saw and experienced has been revealed,' he said.

CLAT PG aspirant moves Delhi HC against ‘arbitrary' counselling fees
NEW DELHI: A candidate who appeared for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) PG has approached the Delhi High Court challenging the high counselling fees levied by the Consortium of National Law Universities, calling them arbitrary and unaffordable for many aspirants. The petition, filed by Jatin Shrivastava, who secured the 474th rank in the entrance exam, argues that the mandatory counselling fee of Rs 30,000, along with additional charges for freezing or confirming seats, is unjust and disproportionate. The matter was mentioned on Friday before the vacation bench of Justices Prathiba M Singh and Rajneesh Kumar Gupta, who have listed it for hearing on June 23. According to Shrivastava's plea, the Consortium demands Rs 20,000 as confirmation fees for every round of counselling, which must be paid afresh each time a candidate chooses to freeze their allotted seat. The petition contends this practice lacks justification, particularly as the financial capacity of students is not assessed before levying such charges. 'That Clause 2 - 'Admissions Counselling process', vide Clause 2.1 titled as 'freeze option' of which, whenever any candidate participant intends to apply for 'freeze option', he is required to deposit a 'non-refundable confirmation fees' of Rs 20,000/- at the time of opting for freezing of any seat,' the plea read.

Modi slams RJD for 'insulting' Ambedkar
Siwan (Bihar): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday slammed the RJD for allegedly insulting Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar and asserted that the people of Bihar would not tolerate any disrespect to the Dalit icon. At a rally in Siwan district, which marked his fifth visit this year to the state and second in less than a month, Modi hailed the "big role" played by Bihar in India's emergence as the "third largest economy" of the world. In a nearly 45-minute-long speech that followed the launch of projects worth more than Rs 5,900 crore and the flagging off of a Vande Bharat train, the Prime Minister cautioned the people against "attempts to recapture economic resources of Bihar" by the RJD-led opposition in the assembly polls due later this year. "Ambedkar was against dynasty rule. But they (RJD and its allies) do not like it. So, they have his portrait placed at their feet. On my way, I saw posters demanding an apology for this insult to Babasaheb," said Modi. "But there has been no apology. This is because they hold Dalits in contempt. In contrast, Modi has Babasaheb in his heart and would like to keep his portrait close to his chest," he added. Modi, who did not mention RJD chief Lalu Prasad by name, referred to the instance of a portrait of Ambedkar being placed close to the feet of the ailing septuagenarian, for which he (Prasad) has been drawing flak from the BJP-led NDA. "The reason is that the RJD-Congress people have little respect for people belonging to the deprived castes, the Dalits, the OBCs and the EBCs. They consider themselves above Babasaheb Ambedkar. But they must remember that the disrespect to Babasaheb Ambedkar will not be forgiven by the people of Bihar," the PM said. Modi also asserted that the world was greatly impressed with India's progress and underscored Bihar's big role in the country's emergence as the world's "third largest economy". "You all know I have returned from abroad only yesterday. During my tour, I met many leaders of the developed world. They all were greatly impressed with the rate of progress in India.
