Mike Tomlin flies in Alabama BBQ for Steelers dinner with Aaron Rodgers, coaching staff
Say what you want about Mike Tomlin — but no one can deny his love for the Steelers organization.
Tomlin's recent acts of generosity made headlines over the past few days — as the longtime head coach hosted Steelers players and coaches at his home for a catered dinner, including newly signed QB Aaron Rodgers.
Kelvin Reynolds of WRBC reported that Woodrow Washington — owner of Archibald's BBQ and Archibald & Woodrow's in West Alabama — claimed to have been hired by Tomlin to cook at his home in Pittsburgh for the event.
Reynolds said the owner and his staff took pictures with Tomlin, several Steelers coaches, and Rodgers.
Washington shared with Reynolds that Tomlin has visited the restaurant during Alabama's Pro Days over the past few years — and clearly, the Steelers head coach loves the food enough to bring it out to Pittsburgh.

Steelers' Will Howard thankful for Aaron Rodgers mentorship: 'He's been so awesome to me'
Aaron Rodgers may have been brought in to lead the Steelers' offense — but his wisdom and role as a mentor for rookie QB Will Howard has gone a long way in such a short amount of time. On insider Brian Batko's Chipped Ham & Football podcast, Howard spoke highly of Rodgers' mentorship and the knowledge he's passing along (courtesy of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette): "He's been so awesome to me so far," Howard said. "I mean, obviously we've only gotten to be together for about three days, but I got a really good feeling about him and about this whole QB room. I think we already, in this past week, meshed really well — hit it off. I think we got a good vibe, good group, and Aaron's been just so willing to help me. He's like, 'Literally, as much or as little as you want me to help you, I'll be there.' He's already given me tips, little things here and there — even in the meeting room, on the field, in my drops, different little things. Obviously, I can't do the things that he can do mechanically, so I don't want to replicate that too much because that's pretty unique. But, for the most part, everything I can learn from that guy is invaluable." When Howard was first drafted, it seemed as if Steelers legendary QB Ben Roethlisberger was taking the Ohio State Buckeye under his wing — but who could say no to learning from two future Hall of Fame QBs? PFF rank Steelers among bottom-five NFL teams in one key area
The Black and Gold faithful aren't the only ones aware of Pittsburgh's poor receiving corps heading into 2025 — as Pro Football Focus ranked the Steelers' unit near the very bottom of the NFL. PFF's Trevor Sikkema recently ranked NFL teams' receiving corps — and the Steelers came in at No. 29: "The Steelers traded for D.K. Metcalf in the offseason but then shipped off George Pickens," Sikkema said. "That profiles as only a slight upgrade for a team that finished 20th in PFF receiving grade in 2024. Pittsburgh should get more out of second-year receiver Roman Wilson, who was largely injured last season, and the backfield combination of Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell brings some third-down, pass-catching ability." Acquiring Metcalf to trade away Pickens was definitely a head-scratcher, but one that was seemingly explained by ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler, who argued Aaron Rodgers' impending arrival played a role in the move. Still, the Steelers are clearly in need of some additional pass catchers — but who and when remain a complete mystery for Pittsburgh.
