Exclusive: Meghan Markle on the "Extraordinary Advice" Tina Knowles Gave Her During New Bonus Podcast Episode
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. The Duchess of Sussex wrapped up the first season of her new Lemonada Media podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder With Meghan, last week, but on Tuesday, June 3, she released a bonus episode—and none other than Beyoncé's mother, Tina Knowles, opened up about her decades of experience as an entrepreneur. Speaking exclusively to Marie Claire, Meghan says, "Wrapping 'Confessions of a Female Founder' with Tina Knowles felt like the perfect end to a very special podcast; as I grow my own business, As ever, I spoke to women who had turned their own entrepreneurial dreams into reality." "Ms. Tina's conversation fulfills the promise of the podcast, offering extraordinary advice, and sharing insights about being a working mom, building something special, and remaining true to herself through every twist and turn," she continues. "This episode proves to be a powerful toolkit of truths that I will apply to my own life as I, too, grow my business, care for my family, and look forward to new adventures." Knowles, who opened Houston hair salon Headliners in 1990, told Meghan she "learned to be a boss" through her decades in the hair industry. 'I think that you start your business and then you find yourself," she said during the episode. "It gives you confidence that you didn't have before." When it comes to Cécred, her haircare line with Beyoncé, Knowles—who released her memoir, Matriarch, in April—said it was a longtime goal to create her own beauty products. 'It has been a dream of mine forever, and Beyoncé, it's been a dream of hers,' she told the duchess. In fact, Knowles revealed that Beyoncé "could actually be a hairstylist" since she grew up watching her at the salon. When Meghan asked what it was like working with her daughter, the number-one New York Times bestselling author said that she deferred to the "Single Ladies" singer on business decisions. "You know you have disagreements, and you have to—I'm the one to always cave," Knowles admitted. "If my kids are mad at me, I can't take it. I'll cave." She added that with Beyoncé, "If we have a disagreement, it's her business, so she gets the win." While discussing the behind-the-scenes stresses of launching a brand, the Duchess of Sussex shared what happened after her new lifestyle brand, As ever, sold out of its jam, tea, honey and baking mixes less than an hour after its debut. "For me at the moment with As ever, it we plan, we planned for a year, and then everything sells out in 45 minutes—which yes, amazing. Great news," the duchess said. "Then what do you do then?" Knowles interjected. Meghan said that she contemplated what her brand's next move should be while looking at it from a customer's perspective. "And then you say, 'Okay, we planned as best as we could. Are we going to replenish and sell out again in an hour? Or is that annoying as a customer?'" the duchess continued. Ultimately, Meghan said she decided to reassess rather than leave people disappointed. "I'm looking at it saying, 'Just pause. That happened. Let's wait until we are completely stable and we have everything we need.'" Knowles agreed based on her own experiences, with Meghan adding that the public can "see all the flashy stuff and they see the product. But that end game…I think you're right. Those behind the scenes moments, how many tears I've shed." The duchess pointed out that a "scarcity mentality at the beginning might be a hook for people," comparing it to "a sneaker drop." However, she said in terms of a long-term customer experience, it's not ideal. "I don't want you to eat that jam once every six months!" she said.

Pearls Adorned Princess Charlotte's Horseshoe Brooch in a Secret Tribute to a Beloved Royal Relative
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Princess Charlotte attended Trooping the Colour 2025 alongside her mother, Kate Middleton, with the pair twinning in aquamarine outfits. The little royal also ensured her late great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, was present at the historic event by wearing a special item referencing the former monarch. While royal fans felt "sorry" for Prince Louis, who was seemingly scolded by Princess Kate and Prince George at Trooping the Colour, Princess Charlotte's behavior bordered on perfect. Plus, the little princess decided to wear a small horseshoe brooch adorned with pearls, in honor of her late great-grandmother. The gorgeous item was reportedly a gift from the late Queen to Princess Charlotte. When the little royal attended Queen Elizabeth's funeral in September 2022, she wore the horseshoe brooch in tribute to the beloved monarch, too. Queen Elizabeth was known for her extensive brooch collection and her eternal love of horses. Princess Charlotte has since taken up horseback riding, following in the footsteps of the late Queen. Back in 2018, decorated Paralympic equestrian Natasha Baker spoke to Princess Kate about Charlotte's burgeoning love of horses. "I asked her how the children were, and she said Charlotte is really enjoying her riding which is great to hear," the athlete explained, via the Mirror. "She emphasized that Charlotte has this passion for horses and although she doesn't echo it, she'll do her best to champion and encourage it." It was previously revealed that the Prince and Princess of Wales were excited to introduce their children to horseback riding while they were still young. "William and Kate were keen to get George on a horse once he was walking confidently," a source told the Daily Mail in December 2015. "George loved his first ride—he was led around a paddock on a rein and shrieked with delight. William and Kate were both there to watch." Princess Charlotte's horseshoe brooch is the perfect tribute to Queen Elizabeth II.

Former Royal Butler Reveals King Charles Would Never Watch This TV Show—But Queen Camilla Will "Fill Him In" Ahead of Major Event
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Each December, members of the Royal Family dress in their best evening attire to attend the star-studded Royal Variety Performance. Although the show is months away, one performer was decided over the weekend during the finale of Britain's Got Talent. Harry Moulding, a 24-year-old magician from Blackpool, England, snagged £250,000 and a spot during the Royal Variety Performance—but according to a former royal butler, one royal probably wasn't watching. While King Charles and Queen Camilla often attend the annual display of music, dance, comedy and theater, one of his former butlers, Grant Harrold, says he doesn't think The King is a fan of the ITV competition show that feeds into the event. "I don't remember them ever watching Britain's Got Talent," Harrold—who worked for Charles between 2004 and 2011—said. The former butler, speaking on behalf of Spin Genie, continued, "I don't think it's something the King would watch. Camilla? Possibly. I think she quite likes game shows, and I think that's the kind of thing she would watch." Being informed is important to The King, and Harrold said that even if King Charles didn't tune in, Camilla "would probably watch it and fill Charles in on it so he knows who is who." Despite not being a reality competition fan, the monarch is keen to be prepared when he attends the Royal Variety Performance. "What they absolutely do is give The King a full background on how the show runs. He needs to understand how they pick the contestants, how the process works, because when he meets the winner at the Royal Variety, he wants to know this," Harrold explains. "Even though he might not watch it, he probably has seen one or two, or maybe Queen Camilla fills him in, but I can guarantee, from the official point of view, he will be filled in," he adds. Last year, Queen Camilla was forced to miss the show because of the lingering effects of pneumonia, leaving The King to attend on his own. In previous years, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and Prince William and Princess Kate have attended on behalf of King Charles or Queen Elizabeth, so it's possible The King won't be there this year. Either way, it's safe to say the royals will have brushed up on their magic this December.
