PLUS activates tidal flow lane on NKVE's Kota Damansara-Damansara stretch tonight for pavement improvement works

KUALA LUMPUR, May 16 — PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) will activate the tidal flow lane along the Kota Damansara-Damansara stretch (from KM18.90 to KM18.40) of the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) from 10 pm today until noon tomorrow.
In a statement today, the expressway concessionaire said the temporary traffic arrangement is necessary to facilitate pavement improvement works on the emergency and left lanes at KM18.63 as part of the continuous effort to provide a more comfortable experience for highway users.
Therefore, it advised highway users to plan their journeys using the PLUS App to obtain the latest traffic information.
They are also advised to adhere to all traffic signs and instructions issued by PLUS personnel when passing through the affected area
Highway users can also obtain the latest traffic information through the PUTRI Virtual Assistant, X@plustrafik App, and Electronic Signboards (VMS) at selected locations as well as contact PLUSLine at 1800-88-0000 in the event of any emergencies. — Bernama

KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 — An oil storage facility caught fire at Taman Megah Ria in Johor Baru earlier today. The blaze, which broke out around 12.30pm, sent thick black smoke soaring over 100 metres into the air, intensified by hot weather and strong winds. About 60 per cent of the premises was destroyed in fire, but no casualties reported, according to the Johor Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba). Residents in the vicinity were ordered to evacuate their homes as a safety precaution and electricity supply in the affected area was cut off to prevent any untoward incidents. According to Berita Harian, several small explosions occurred around 2pm, with oil drums seen flying through the air due to the blasts. Bomba is actively working to bring the fire under control.

KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds in seven states and the Federal Territory of Labuan, expected to last until 5 pm today. MetMalaysia, in a statement, said the warning covers the entire states of Perlis, Kedah, and Penang, as well as parts of Perak (Larut, Matang, and Selama). A similar weather warning was issued for Johor, specifically the Kota Tinggi area; Sarawak, covering Subis, Miri, Marudi, and Limbang; and several areas in Sabah, including the Interior (Sipitang, Kuala Penyu, and Beaufort), the west coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, and Kota Belud), and Kudat (Kota Marudu and Kudat), as well as the Federal Territory of Labuan. — Bernama

Tesla To Build Grid-side Energy Storage Station In Shanghai

SHANGHAI, June 21 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- US carmaker Tesla on Friday inked a deal with Chinese partners to build a grid-side energy storage station in Shanghai using its Megapack energy-storage batteries, reported Xinhua. The deal, with a total investment of 4 billion yuan (about US$556 million), marked Tesla's expansion into China's burgeoning energy storage market, paving the way for its facility to connect with the country's vast power grid, the largest in the world. The gigawatt-hour-scale energy storage station is to be located in the Lin-gang Special Area of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, as per the deal signed by Tesla, the administrative committee of the Lin-gang Special Area, the people's government of Shanghai's Fengxian District, and China Kangfu International Leasing Co Ltd.
