DAVV to recheck MBA answersheets after mass failures in two subjects
Indore: Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) on Thursday initiated a re-evaluation process of answersheets for two MBA first-semester subjects — Quantitative Techniques and Accounts for Managers — after a significant number of students failed in these papers.
The move comes after a wave of complaints from students, who raised concerns over possible discrepancies in evaluation.
In the recently declared MBA results, a majority of students failed in only these two subjects, prompting the university to suspect lapses in the checking process. Taking the objections seriously, the university has begun scrutinising both, the marksheets and the answersheets. "The unusual pattern of failure, restricted to only two subjects, has raised valid concerns.
We are re-checking the answersheets to ensure there was no error in evaluation," said Dr Ashesh Tiwari, DAVV examination controller.
In addition to evaluation concerns, students of the second and fourth semesters faced logistical challenges when their ATKT and main exams were scheduled at the same time. After receiving complaints, the university revised the exam schedule. Now, instead of the morning slot, the overlapping papers will be held from 3 to 6 PM, eliminating the clash.
Third-semester students also encountered technical difficulties while applying for revaluation. The link on the official website was non-functional for a period, preventing them from submitting applications. The issue has since been resolved.

DAVV PG admission draws low registrations
Indore: Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) closed registrations for PG admissions through CUET-PG scores on Thursday, but the unexpectedly low number of applications raised serious concerns. "We will not be extending the deadline now as the online counselling schedule will be hampered," said DAVV admissions committee member, Dr Yogendra Bawal. The admission process will now move to the merit list preparation stage, which will take place from June 6 to 10, followed by the release of the list on June 12. Students can complete online choice filling from June 13 to 19. Despite CUET-PG 2025 seeing a nationwide surge in participation—with 6.55 lakh applicants—DAVV's low turnout is being viewed as part of a wider trend where non-CUET courses have also seen fewer students opting for admission. Experts believe this may reflect broader shifts in student preferences or confusion around the online counselling process. Notably, last year only 42,000 students selected DAVV through CUET-PG, compared to 86,000 this year. The university anticipated tough competition, but the actual figures fell far short of expectations. DAVV offers 24 PG courses across more than 10 teaching departments, including sought-after programs like MA Clinical Psychology, Sociology, and Political Science.

Over 700 candidates register for DAVV PhD admissions, deadline extended
Indore: Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) received over 700 registrations for admission in PhD courses. The university is conducting the PhD admissions in two parts — National Eligibility Test (NET) based for various courses and Doctoral Entrance Test for engineering and pharmacy courses, DET is scheduled for June 16. It's the second time in a single academic session that the university is conducting admissions for doctoral programmes. The university extended the registration deadline to May 30 to accommodate more aspirants. The highest number of seats this year are available in management stream, which has 185 seats under the guidance of 49 research supervisors. Commerce follows with 111 seats and 27 guides. In contrast, subjects like biochemistry and economics have only three seats each. Despite the limited seats, economics has seen a sharp rise in demand, which could lead to stiff competition. For PhD admissions through UGC-NET qualifications, 519 candidates registered for 524 seats across 22 subjects. These include English literature, electronics, law, life sciences, Hindi literature, physical education, and others, with a total of 168 recognised research supervisors. For engineering disciplines, where admissions are through DET, 173 candidates registered for just 89 seats. Among these, pharmacy has the highest availability with 30 seats, while data science offers only one seat. Other streams like applied mathematics, applied physics, computer engineering, information technology, and mechanical engineering have limited seats and guides, adding to the competition. Experts believe the shift to NET-based PhD admissions in 22 subjects has raised the academic standards. Educationists said that NET ensures quality candidates, as it is one of the most challenging exams in the country. However, even after clearing NET, candidates will have to pass the rigorous Research Advisory Committee interviews in over 15 subjects to secure final admission. With varying seat availability across subjects, candidates may face intense competition in some areas, while finding easier entry in others. The main admission process will commence in June.
