Andhra govt failed to fulfil promises and safeguard law: Jagan
YSR Congress party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday claimed that the huge turnout of people to his rallies and tours in the rural areas is a clear indication to the growing anti-incumbency against the Telugu Desam Party-led coalition government in Andhra Pradesh headed by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
Addressing a press conference at his Tadepalli residence, Jagan said the overwhelming response of the people to his recent tours was a standing testimony of the huge anti-incumbency that has set in within one year of the Naidu regime.
'The huge success of Betrayal Day on June 4 with tremendous response from the people in all parts of the state shows the people are vexed with the Naidu government which failed to implement his Super Six promises and safeguard law and order in the state,' Jagan said.
He said his visit to Sattenapalli on Wednesday in a 'curfew-like situation' showed the measure of repressive methods being adopted by the Chandrababu Naidu government. 'What is wrong if the Opposition leader visits to console a family? The people have turned up in large numbers to see me, as they are vexed with the government and are looking towards YSRCP,' he claimed.
Jagan said even during his visit to Podili to call on the distressed tobacco farmers last week, the government tried to scuttle the event by imposing huge restrictions when milling crowds had come to see him. 'A handful of TDP workers tried to disrupt the meeting while farmers who came in large numbers had maintained restraint. Yet, cases were filed against farmers and not those who tried to disrupt the rally,' he said.
'There is severe repression in the state and people are venting their ire at every given opportunity by extending support to all our programmes,' he said.
TDP president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu said Jagan's so-called condolence tours were meant for instigating violence. 'He has violated all police permissions for his tours, held gatherings in narrow alleys leading to stampedes, encouraged violence, and blamed the police,' he said.
He said the way the YSRCP mobilised crowds for Jagan's tour, violating the police restrictions, was highly condemnable. 'If such people flood the streets, it will lead to dangerous consequences. The public must stay alert,' he said.
He emphasised that maintaining law and order in the state is a top priority for the coalition government and urged people to think seriously about the kind of leadership they want shaping the future.

Objecting to the Centre acting just on the 'feasibility report', the CM said that it is unjustifiable to seek permission for the Godavari-Banakacherla (G-B) project without approvals from the Technical Committee, Committee of Group of Officers, and Apex Council, and that too without taking Telangana into confidence.

Stage set for International Yoga Day celebrations in Visakhapatnam
VISAKHAPATNAM: Vizag City is all set to host the International Yoga Day celebrations on RK Beach Road here on Saturday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, other ministers, officials, celebrities, and citizens from the North Andhra districts are expected to attend the mega event. As a prelude to International Yoga Day, the State government launched the Yogandhra initiative on May 21, aiming to make yoga accessible to everyone. Over the past month, yoga training sessions were conducted across the state, drawing participation from people across various sections of society. The concluding event of Yogandhra will take place simultaneously at thousands of locations across the state. As part of this, a mass yoga demonstration involving approximately 5 lakh participants is planned along the Visakhapatnam coastline on Saturday, with an attempt to set a Guinness World Record. The event will be held along a 26-km stretch from Kali Mata Temple on RK Beach Road to Bheemunipatnam, with participants performing yoga throughout the route. Around 326 compartments have been set up, each supervised by a gazetted officer. Each compartment includes yoga instructors, 3 demonstrators, 10 volunteers, medical staff (ANM and ASHA workers), a police officer, Guinness record verification representatives, sanitation workers, and supervisors. Approximately 1,438 yoga performers, including 907 instructors, will oversee the event.

Andhra creates two world records in performing Yoga, Surya Namaskaram, says CM Chandrababu Naidu
Describing the 11th International Yoga Day celebration as a grand success, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said the state has achieved two Guinness Book of World Records. Addressing media persons after performing Yoga along with prime Minister Narendra Modi , Niadu said 3.03 lakh people gathered here to perform the ancient practice, creating a world record for most people performing Yoga in a signle location. However, the exact number of participants will be announced by the Guinness World Records authorities. He also said that about 22,000 tribal students simultaneously performed 108 Surya namaskar in 108 minutes in one location, thus creating another record. "The 11th International Yoga Day was a grand success. We have created a history. This is a super hit, he said. Naidu further said the state government expected about two crore registrations from across the state to perform Yoga today. However, the number shot up to 2.45 crore. Live Events Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in International Yoga Day celebrations here on Saturday at RK Beach, accompanied by N Chandrababu Naidu and others.
