'Rappa Rappa': How Allu Arjun's Pushpa dialogue has sparked fresh Chandrababu Naidu vs Jagan Reddy clash in Andhra

Tired of too many ads? Remove Ads Rappa Rappa dialogue ignites row Supporter's ritual reference sparks outrage Naidu warns against normalising movie violence Tired of too many ads? Remove Ads Nara Lokesh calls Jagan's stance 'dangerous' A fresh political clash has erupted in Andhra Pradesh between Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy , this time over a film-inspired dialogue used by a YSR Congress Party supporter at a public meeting. The supporter, a former Telugu Desam Party (TDP) member who recently joined YSRCP, compared political opponents to sacrificial animals, echoing a scene from the upcoming film Pushpa 2 and referencing the Gangamma Jatara ritual known for animal beheadings. Instead of distancing himself from the violent remark, Jagan repeated and defended it, prompting sharp criticism from Naidu and senior TDP leaders. The exchange has reignited tensions between the two rivals and raised questions about the use of violent imagery in political rhetoric.A former Telugu Desam Party (TDP) worker, now with the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), told the crowd that opponents should be treated 'like in Gangamma Jatara,' a village ritual that involves animal beheading. He used the phrase 'Rappa rappa,' a local idiom meaning 'one by one.' Jagan cited the remark on stage, saying the defector's anger showed how badly the TDP 'failed' voters and asked, 'What is wrong?''Even though he was a TDP member, he joined the YSRCP, displaying a sense of regional anger against the government for its failure on promises. He made statements like 'Rappa rappa, like Gangamma Jatara...' meaning what?' Jagan asked the crowd during an address. 'He meant to say that people are that angry with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, that he has failed them and betrayed them… 'Just like in Gangamma Jatara, where an animal is sacrificed by beheading, they will behave towards TDP — rappa rappa. Good only he said! What is wrong?'' he chief and current Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said such language crosses a line. 'If there is a dialogue in movies that is a joke, can it be put on a flex banner? Do you think that people are killed in movies and it is okay to kill them outside? Do you think that because rape is shown in films, it is acceptable outside as well?' he asked.'If a person thinks, 'I will do anything, I will kill my Babai,' who are you to say? What is the trend? What is the message you're trying to send to the public?' Naidu said. He called recent statements about 'cut off… kill… behead' proof of a 'mindset of criminals.'Andhra IT Minister Nara Lokesh challenged Jagan on social media: 'Will you slaughter them like sheep, @ysjagan? What does it mean that you are defending the language of your admirer? Your attitude is very dangerous for democracy.' He used the hashtags #BloodOnYourHandsJagan and # Minister Payyavula Keshav said, 'When you say, 'People will be killed, rappa rappa,' whom exactly are you planning to kill? If a youth repeats such a line, as a former Chief Minister, Jagan should have condemned it. Instead, he responds with amusement, thereby encouraging such behaviour — which could result in more people fighting and even killing each other.'

Jagan instigated violence in Palnadu: MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy

NELLORE: Senior TDP leader and Sarvepalli MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy on Thursday came down heavily on former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, accusing him of instigating chaos, promoting betting culture, and misusing public emotions over the suicide of a YSRCP activist. Addressing the media at Duttalur, Somireddy blamed Jagan for encouraging betting culture in the State through slogans like 'Why Not 175?' 'It was this illusion that pushed YSRCP activist Nagamalleswara Rao into betting losses, and ultimately to suicide. When Nagamalleswara Rao died on June 9, 2024 Jagan was the caretaker Chief Minister? Why are they now blaming the TDP-led NDA government for the YSRCP activist's suicide?' Somireddy asked. He condemned the rally held by Jagan at Rentapalla in Palnadu district in the guise of a condolence visit. 'Jagan has held a provocative rally, which led to the death of two innocent persons. If anyone tries to break the law, they will be dealt with sternly,' he asserted.

Chandrababu Naidu failed as CM, anti-incumbency set in: Jagan Mohan Reddy

VIJAYAWADA: Former Chief Minister and YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said the overwhelming response to his recent tours was a standing testimony to the huge anti-incumbency that has set in within one year of the TDP-led NDA government. Speaking to the media at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli on Thursday, Jagan said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is scared due to his failure in governance, and that his impatience is being manifested in diversion politics, and foisting false cases against political opponents. 'The modus operandi is to catch a small person like a gunman or a PA, use coercion methods to seek confession, and file cases against popular YSRCP leaders who support me, unmindful of the fact that people can see through his game,' Jagan deplored. He pointed out that the 'Betrayal Day' observed on June 4 received an overwhelming response from the public, showing that anti-incumbency has set in very fast, as none of the NDA Super Six promises have been implemented. Jagan questioned the repressive methods being adopted by the NDA government, citing his visit to Sattenapalli on Wednesday under curfew-like conditions. 'What is wrong if the Opposition leader visits to console a family, and people are coming in large numbers as they are vexed with the government, and are looking towards the YSRCP?' he asked. YSRCP leaders and those close to him are being jailed based on fabricated cases built on false confessions, he said. 'Atrocities on women and young girls are growing, and no complaint is being received, nor is any investigation taken up. Only after the Kuppam incident was trolled on social media, Naidu reacted. Farmers are in distress, and not getting MSP for any crop,' he rued. Sharmila's phone tapping charge refuted Jagan refuted the charges of APCC chief YS Sharmila that her phone, along with those of her husband and close associates, were tapped during the previous BRS regime in Telangana, and the YSRCP rule in AP. He said the BRS regime might have tapped her phone as she was playing a crucial role in Telangana through her political party at that time, and reiterated that the YSRCP has no role in the rumours going viral on social media.

Sharmila slams Jagan Mohan Reddy for unveiling statue of YSRCP activist in Palnadu

VIZIANAGARAM: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president YS Sharmila slammed former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for unveiling the statue of YSRCP activist Nagamalleswara Rao, who allegedly committed suicide after losing huge money in betting, at Rentapalla village in Palnadu district. 'What kind of message is given to society by paying tributes to Nagamalleswara Rao, and unveiling his statue?' she questioned Jagan. Attending a district-level party review meeting in Vizianagaram on Thursday, Sharmila criticised the TDP-led NDA government for granting permission to Jagan to unveil the statue. She pointed out the government's inconsistency, noting that it had denied permission to Congress to support the agitation of Amaravati farmers, and Visakhapatnam Steel Plant employees. 'Jagan is the adopted child of the BJP. Therefore, the TDP-led NDA government is permitting him. We are fighting on public issues against PM Narendra Modi, and the BJP-led NDA government. Therefore, they are denying permission for our agitations,' Sharmila said. She further alleged that the government is restricting the Congress due to its protests against government failures. In a media interaction, Sharmila questioned the government's accountability for the violence during Jagan's Rentapalla tour, which resulted in the death of two innocents. 'Who will take the responsibility?' she asked, also recalling her own experience of being house-arrested while trying to participate in a stir against VSP privatisation.

Andhra govt failed to fulfil promises and safeguard law: Jagan

YSR Congress party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday claimed that the huge turnout of people to his rallies and tours in the rural areas is a clear indication to the growing anti-incumbency against the Telugu Desam Party-led coalition government in Andhra Pradesh headed by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Addressing a press conference at his Tadepalli residence, Jagan said the overwhelming response of the people to his recent tours was a standing testimony of the huge anti-incumbency that has set in within one year of the Naidu regime. 'The huge success of Betrayal Day on June 4 with tremendous response from the people in all parts of the state shows the people are vexed with the Naidu government which failed to implement his Super Six promises and safeguard law and order in the state,' Jagan said. He said his visit to Sattenapalli on Wednesday in a 'curfew-like situation' showed the measure of repressive methods being adopted by the Chandrababu Naidu government. 'What is wrong if the Opposition leader visits to console a family? The people have turned up in large numbers to see me, as they are vexed with the government and are looking towards YSRCP,' he claimed. Jagan said even during his visit to Podili to call on the distressed tobacco farmers last week, the government tried to scuttle the event by imposing huge restrictions when milling crowds had come to see him. 'A handful of TDP workers tried to disrupt the meeting while farmers who came in large numbers had maintained restraint. Yet, cases were filed against farmers and not those who tried to disrupt the rally,' he said. 'There is severe repression in the state and people are venting their ire at every given opportunity by extending support to all our programmes,' he said. TDP president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu said Jagan's so-called condolence tours were meant for instigating violence. 'He has violated all police permissions for his tours, held gatherings in narrow alleys leading to stampedes, encouraged violence, and blamed the police,' he said. He said the way the YSRCP mobilised crowds for Jagan's tour, violating the police restrictions, was highly condemnable. 'If such people flood the streets, it will lead to dangerous consequences. The public must stay alert,' he said. He emphasised that maintaining law and order in the state is a top priority for the coalition government and urged people to think seriously about the kind of leadership they want shaping the future.
