Reliance Industries' new target is the consumer goods (FMCG) market where India's 600 million consumers are giving huge business. To enter in this market Reliance is thinking of partnerships with local kirana stores by offering them higher trade margins. This was confirmed by T Krishnakumar, Director of Reliance Consumer Products Ltd (RCPL), in an interview with The Economic Times.
'India has a 1.4 billion population, plus or minus. Then we have a core middle class. And then about 600 million consumers. We want to make quality products for these consumers,' Krishnakumar said.
'Nobody has tried to enter this space nationally with a clear approach; regional and local players have tried but they have not been able to sustain,' he said.
RCPL plans to expand its brand portfolio nationally by March 2027. 'When I say we are scaling up, it does not mean tomorrow. For any product to be scaled in an intense manner, you need 24–30 months,' Krishnakumar said. Other consumer companies like HUL, ITC, Nestle and Dabur are trying premiumisation for higher margins.
As Radhakishan Damani's Dmart is heavily invested in FMCG product, Reliance Industries potential partnership with Kirana stores can affect it's daily business.
Reliance's consumer business was started in 2022 which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reliance Retail Ventures. It acquired more than 15 brands like Campa Soft Drinks. Its portfolio also has Sil jam, Lotus Chocolate, Toffeman and Ravalgaon, Alan's Bugles snacks, Velvette shampoo and Independence staples.
Campa and Independence crossed Rs 1,000 crore each in sales and reached 1 million stores. In soft drinks, chocolates and detergents, the company has priced all products 20-40% lower than competitors like Coca-Cola, Mondelez and HUL.

After Ratan Tata's TCS, this company gets land in Andhra Pradesh for less than a rupee; to invest Rs 15820000000 in..., company is...

Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu New Delhi: In a major move that promises to generate thousands of jobs, technology giant Cognizant is likely to set up a world-class IT/ITES campus in Andhra Pradesh's Visakhapatnam. The company will invest around Rs 1,582.98 crore. According to a Times of India report, the project is expected to generate over 8,000 jobs. To recall, a few months back, the Chandra Babu Naidu-led Andhra Pradesh government announced that it would allocate land at just 99 paisa to Cognizant IT Solutions for this project. A similar deal has also been made with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) where the government has decided to sell 21 acres of land for 99 paise each. The bold move indicates that the state is aiming to establish itself as a tech hub in India. Cognizant's Big Plan: Here are some of the key details: Cognizant has proposed a huge investment in Visakhapatnam The company has asked for 21.31 acres of land at Kapuluppada under the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA). With this move, Cognizant aligns its strategy to optimise real estate costs. In May 2023, Chief Executive Ravi Kumar S said the firm would relinquish 11 million square feet of office space globally, especially in India's largest cities, while investing in tier-2 cities. Cognizant is targeting 2025 annual revenue between $20.5 billion and $21.0 billion, compared to the previous outlook of the midpoint of $20.30 billion to $20.80 billion. Cognizant plans to begin commercial operations by March 2029 The entire project being 100 percent self-funded, indicating the MNC's long-term commitment to Andhra Pradesh. The announcement comes just months after India's tech leader, Tata Consultancy Services, disclosed plans for a 13.70 billion rupee campus in the same city, which is expected to generate about 12,000 jobs. Globally, IT companies, including those in India, are taking cost-cutting measures such as monetising real estate assets and slowing down salary increments amid demand uncertainty.

Madhubala biopic put on hold; Makers rework budget plans - Here's what we know

The much-anticipated biopic on legendary actress Madhubala has hit a temporary roadblock. Directed by Jasmeet K Reen, who earned acclaim with her 2022 film Darlings, the film's production has been put on hold due to budgetary constraints, even though the script is reportedly complete. High Budget Causes a Pause Initially envisioned as a lavish period drama, the film was set to portray the grandeur of Madhubala's life and era, with a projected budget of Rs 80 to Rs 100 crore. However, as per News 18 reports, the production team — comprising Sony Pictures International Productions, Brewing Thoughts Pvt. Ltd., and Madhubala Pictures — found that the high costs related to period detailing, elaborate sets, and costumes could make it difficult to recover the investment. Reportedly the recovery math didn't add up and the budget had to be re-evaluated. Searching for a Middle Ground Reportedly, the team is now working hard to redesign the financial plan without compromising on the essence of the story. 'The goal is to honour Madhubala's legacy while keeping the project financially viable. The budget is now being slashed to almost half,' said a source. As a result, casting discussions with top female actors — previously underway — have been temporarily paused until the revised plan is finalised. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Perdagangkan CFD Emas dengan Broker Tepercaya IC Markets Mendaftar Undo Despite the financial pause, the spirit behind the project remains strong.
