Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan is the epitome of versatility. The actor has been contributing to Indian cinema for decades. Despite turning 82 years old, he has not stopped working. Amitabh Bachchan was last seen in the superhit film Kalki 2898 AD and the Shahenshah actor hosts the very famous quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati. As a result, Amitabh Bachchan stands in the sixth spot in the top 10 richest Bollywood actors. However, while today Amitabh has all the luxury to himself, things were not the same when he started his own production house, ABCL. The actor faced many challenges and even bankruptcy. However, a chain reaction of events played a crucial role in launching the career of the late actor, Mukul Dev. Interesting right! Scroll down to read more.
Do you know that Amitabh Bachchan's production house had signed Mukul Dev for his debut?! Yes, that's correct! In an interview, the late actor opened up on the matter and revealed that Jaya Bachchan had approached him with the offer to act in one of the three films which were being made by Big B's production company. He revealed that an advance payment of Rs 75,000 was also given to him.
In the interview, Mukul Dev said, 'When she met me she had said, 'I want to sign you. We are making three films and you are doing at least one film with us among the three films that we are producing. I don't know which of these films you will do but you will do a film with us.''
The name of the film was Naam Kya Hai and it would have marked Mukul's debut in Bollywood. However, that never happened as the production house ran into financial loss and all the films that were being produced during that tenure were shelved. In a conversation with Planet Bollywood, the actor stated that Amitabh Bachchan had to face massive loss due to which the 2-3 movies which were made were never released.
Amitabh Bachchan's company ABCL was facing major losses in the late 90s. In an interview with Vir Sanghvi, he opened up on the same and revealed that the company was of Rs 60 crore and it faced a loss of Rs 70 crore. Additionally, a debt of Rs 22 crore was on Big B's head.
By the time Mukul Dev's movie was about to release, Amitabh Bachchan had incurred a loss of Rs 90 crores. As a result, Amitabh had no choice but to cancel the release.
Meanwhile, Mukul Dev said goodbye to the world on May 24, 2025. The actor was not keeping well for a long time and passed away at the age of 54. He is survived by his brother Rahul Dev.

Frederikke posted a reel on her Instagram, writing, 'Who is this man—and why does he make the BEST papadum I've ever had?! I bought this papad back in Nepal and haven't found it anywhere in Copenhagen. I'm running low… if anyone knows where to get this or who this legendary papad guy is, please help.' In the video, she takes a Bikaji moong dal papad out of the packet, roasts it on an electric stove, and happily bites into it, while asking people to tell her where to find more papad and to tell Amitabh he makes them best. As was Shah Rukh Khan, 'wait till you try Shah Rukh Khan's pickles. He's my distant relative.' Amitabh has been working in films since the 60s and is one of the leading brand endorsers in India. He has been the face of brands like India Gate, First Cry, Just Dial, Cadbury, Kalyan Jewellers, Pepsi and more.

THROWBACK: When Lionel Messi sent a signed gift for MS Dhoni's daughter Ziva

In December 2022, Lionel Messi sent a souvenir with a personal message to Ziva Dhoni, immediately captivating fans everywhere. At seven years old, Ziva posed proudly with the memento, pointing at Messi's inscription and signature. The gesture truly brought into focus MS Dhoni's well-known love for football and introduced Ziva as a budding fan of the sport. Now, in June 2025, that moment feels even more significant after Messi and Dhoni recently appeared together in a popular advertisement. Here's what happened back then. What did Ziva Dhoni receive from Lionel Messi? Messi had celebrated Argentina's World Cup win by extending his joy beyond the field in late December 2022. He sent a signed Argentina jersey with a personal note saying 'Para Ziva,' meaning 'For Ziva.' The gift was shared on Ziva's official Instagram (managed by her parents) with the caption 'Like father, like daughter.' The jersey had arrived just days after Argentina's victory over France. For Ziva, it was more than a jersey. It was an introduction to football fandom inherited from her father. At the time, First Post had noted that the photo quickly gathered over two hundred thousand likes. Today, the post sits at over a million. Ziva's fandom and Dhoni's football roots Ziva's zest for the sport did not blossom overnight. It likely sprang from Dhoni's own passion for football, which runs quite deep. He once aspired to be a goalkeeper, and now co-owns Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League. According to the cited source, Dhoni has trained with the squad and supports clubs like Manchester United. Ziva has clearly inherited this interest. Seeing her point at Messi's signature made it clear she follows in Dhoni's footsteps. Jay Shah also received Messi's autograph Ziva wasn't the only Indian recipient of Messi's generosity. Around the same time, the six-time Golden Boot winner also sent a signed jersey to BCCI secretary Jay Shah. As reported by the mentioned publication, former Indian cricketer Pragyan Ojha posted a picture of Shah holding the autographed shirt, with 'GOAT sends his best wishes and signed match jersey for jay bhai!' written on it. Ojha even joked about hoping to get one for himself soon. From a viral 2022 post to an on-screen collaboration in 2025 Though the jersey made waves in late 2022, Dhoni and Messi's association didn't end there. In April 2025, Dhoni and Messi appeared together in an advertisement for a popular chips brand. This video had amassed nearly a million likes within 24 hours. Fans watched the two legends share playful football moments as they passed the ball through screens across the world.
