The San Francisco 49ers began mandatory minicamp Tuesday, and to no surprise, left tackle superstar Trent Williams was a full participant.

Some rumors swirled after Williams was absent from the team workouts earlier this offseason, but the veteran lineman attended the last couple days of OTAs to quiet the noise.
He is under contract, a proven leader in the locker room, and is reportedly in good health, so there shouldn't be much to worry about. He hardly comes to OTAs anyway, so an appearance - however late - is actually some nice progress.
One thing that could worry Niners Nation, however, is Williams' longevity at such a crucial position like his. The two have had tremendous success thus far, but Williams won't be able to protect quarterback Brock Purdy's blindside for his entire career- which after the QB's big-time contract extension, many believe will remain in the Bay Area.
Williams, who will turn 37 next month, is entering his 15th NFL season. For the average player, this is multiple lifetimes. Even for a future Hall of Famer like Williams is, 15 years is quite a while. Not to mention that offensive line is among the toughest places to play because of the physical demand... Trent is a veteran's veteran to say the least.

Still, his play hasn't slowed down, with three First Team All-Pros in the last four years as proof.
But Father Time is speeding up.
So, what does Williams have to say about this eventual twilight of his career?
Not much.
'I just feel like I do myself and my teammates a disservice if I'm looking toward the end,' Williams said, via 49erswebzone.com. 'I'm paid. People count on me to be here now. We've got goals and aspirations as a team. I just don't think putting brain power toward that helps us get to where we want to go."
For the 49ers, "where they want to go" looks a lot different than where they ended up last season. San Francisco fell to the bottom of the NFC West the season after a Super Bowl appearance. Williams himself only appeared in 10 games, which matches a career-low.

There are a lot of things to improve on in 2025, so Williams' retirement has been pushed far back in the closet of his mind.
'When [retirement] happens, it happens," he said. "I think, one day, coming in, I should know when it's getting that time, and then, I do the responsible thing and let them know early enough so that they can make the adjustments needed.'
That day is unknown at the moment, but what we do know is that Williams is under contract for two more seasons, including this upcoming one. After 2026, he will be going on 39 years old.
40, at least right now, could be within reach.
'I would love to make it into that special group, but if it's not in my cards,' he said. 'I'm going to do everything physically possible. I'm going to stay engaged.

'It's one of them things to where I'm going to do everything possible to play as long [as I can], and to put a good product of football out there, and then, when it's not going my way, then I'll know. But I could play until I'm 41. Who knows?"
Best news of all for 49ers fans? He's fueled up with motivation.
"I'm definitely not going to retire with some left in the tank."
Trent Williams wants to go "until the wheels fall off".
And there are a lot of miles left in those tires.

Chicago Sky Make Angel Reese Announcement After Eighth Loss

Chicago Sky Make Angel Reese Announcement After Eighth Loss originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese has been playing her best basketball of the 2025 WNBA season in recent games. Over her last four contests, the 6-foot-3 forward is averaging 14.3 points, 10.8 rebounds and 5.5 assists. This includes her first career WNBA triple-double in a win over the Connecticut Sun. Advertisement Unfortunately for Reese and her team, the Sky currently sit near the bottom of the standings with a 3-8 record. Missing the playoffs last season, and owning the worst record in the Eastern Conference, Chicago was hoping for more success this year after some offseason changes. While that has not taken place, there is reason for optimism, particularly with the recent play of Reese. Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese (5).Kamil Krzaczynski-Imagn Images Heading into a game with the Phoenix Mercury on Saturday, the Sky made an announcement on their star sophomore. Per the team, Reese has officially been named Chicago's Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. This is a team-given honor, and one that was accompanied with a message on X. Advertisement "back-to-back," the Sky wrote. "Angel Reese is our Magellan Player of the Week for the second week in a row 😮‍💨" Reese has dominated these team-specific awards this season, winning several Player of the Game honors, and now taking home Player of the Week for the second straight week. On Friday, the WNBA announced the first voting returns for the 2025 WNBA All-Star game, and Reese was 13th in the league with over 173,000 votes. While this may be a bit lower than fans were expecting, it still puts her in position to make the All-Star team for a second straight year. Reese's recent play has only strengthened her All-Star case, and she will look to keep that going on Saturday against Phoenix Advertisement Related: WNBA Fans In Disbelief After Angel Reese, Caitlin Clark News on Friday This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jun 20, 2025, where it first appeared.

Bills' Michael Hoecht: Super Bowl title would mean 'everything' to him

In little surprise, Michael Hoecht gets it. The pass rusher signed with the Buffalo Bills during free agency this offseason. He does have to face a suspension early on next season, but Hoecht is going to be chomping at the bit to get his Bills career going. Advertisement That's because Hoecht completely understands what the Bills and a potential Super Bowl means to Buffalo. Despite already having won a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams, it sounds like one with the Bills would be even bigger for Hoecht. That's because Hoecht is a close local to western New York as an Oakville, Ontario, native. Hoecht said during minicamp that bringing a title to Buffalo would be a massive achievement and credited Bills Mafia as his reason why a Super Bowl win would mean so much. Hoecht's explanation can be found in the clip below: This article originally appeared on Bills Wire: Bills' Michael Hoecht: Super Bowl title would mean 'everything' to him

PFF: What do the Bills still need to 'think about' during the 2025 NFL offseason?

The Buffalo Bills front office has geared up the team for another run at a Super Bowl in 2025 but Pro Football Focus is not convinced all the work is done just yet. The football analytics outlet broke down one item each NFL team still needs to "think about" this offseason. For Buffalo, it relates to linebacker Matt Milano. Milano has undoubtedly been one of the best players at his position in football during his career but the issue that has popped up for him is his health. Because of that, Milano and the Bills reworked his contract this offseason and he's in the final year of his deal in 2025. What PFF thinks the team needs to keep in mind moving forward is the status of Milano's future... but none of that can be determined until next season begins. PFF's breakdown on Milano can be found below: Milano is entering the final year of his contract, though there are two void years attached that the Bills could convert if he wants to keep playing. But if this is his last year in Buffalo, how does the team feel about the rest of the linebacker group? Terrel Bernard struggled last season on his way to a 48.2 PFF overall grade, ranking 83rd among 90 linebackers, but the Bills signed him to a four-year extension this offseason, so he's not going anywhere. Dorian Williams wasn't much better (58.2) and is now halfway through his rookie deal. Could Buffalo look to make a big splash at linebacker in the 2026 NFL Draft?
