Asda thief sat on man and kissed him in car park before stealing gold chain
A driver told how a brazen thief sat on him in an Asda store car park and repeatedly kissed him while stealing his gold chain.
The crook, described as a middle-aged woman, approached George Lovatt as he waited in his car in a disabled bay at the Minworth store in Sutton Coldfield at around 12.30pm on Monday, June 16.
At first the woman and her younger accomplice were asking about blue badges and asking for money, he said.

But when those requests were refused, the older woman sat on him and started kissing him, before stealing a gold chain he had had for 30 years, with two crosses on it.
George, from Coleshill, told BirminghamLive: 'At first, I thought it was a joke.
'I drove to Asda with my wife and daughter. It was that hot I let the women go into the store.
'It was red hot on the driver's side so I moved to the passenger side.
'I sat out of the car and I was approached by a middle-aged woman and a younger one.
'They had a sheet with them with signatures and the blue badge sign and they were asking for money.'
The 84-year-old continued: 'Then the older woman climbed over me. At first I thought somebody had set me up.
'She was kissing me around the neck and on the lips. I thought she was a bit familiar. I pushed her away and she got out of the car.
'I phoned my daughter to tell them what happened just before 12.30pm. They thought I was having them on.
'When I got home I noticed my gold chain was gone. We tried to get Asda security and then phoned 999 and was told to call 101.'

Mr Lovatt continued: 'My wife bought the gold chain originally. It has got two crosses on it.
'I only said to her the other day, 'I wonder how much that would be worth'.
'Fortunately I usually have a chain on my hand, but that was still on the dresser and I hadn't worn it.
'These women are obviously preying on people in blue badge areas. Apparently, it has happened at a Tesco too.'

Mr Lovatt added: 'I have been having panic attacks since an operation for a detached retina.
'This has made that worse. What made it worse was the climbing on top of me and kissing me.
'Anybody walking past the car would have thought she was making love to me. A police officer said they had a special team looking into it and had pictures from Asda."

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: 'We're investigating a distraction theft, outside a supermarket on Walmley Ash Road, Sutton Coldfield, at around 12.30pm on Monday, June 16.
'It's reported two women approached a man, one began to kiss him, and he pushed her away.
'Afterwards the man noticed a gold chain and crucifix he was wearing was missing.
'We are in contact with the man who reported this, and officers are reviewing CCTV as part of the investigation.
'Anyone with information should contact us on 101 quoting 20/277138/25.'

Met Police appeal after ‘priceless' 280-year-old violin stolen from pub
The Metropolitan Police are appealing for information after a £150,000 violin was stolen from a pub in Islington. The instrument, which belongs to a member of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, is believed to have been taken from The Marquess Tavern on Canonbury Street on February 18. Learner driver allegedly caught breaking four road rules at once
A learner driver has had his licence suspended after he was allegedly caught breaking four rules at once on Queensland's most dangerous highway. The 31-year-old man was spotted at around 10.30pm on Sunday night by officers who alleged that he was driving at 123km/h in an 80km/h zone on the Bruce Highway in Cairns. When officers approached the car to question the alleged speeding, things quickly took a turn for the worse. Police allege there were no L-plates on display, and claim the supervisor in the passenger seat had a disqualified licence. In Queensland, learner drivers must be accompanied by a driver with an open licence for the same type of vehicle that is being driven. They need to have had that licence for at least one year. The driver was then subjected to a roadside breath test, where police allege it returned a positive result and was later recorded as a BAC of 0.207 per cent. Learner drivers must have a BAC of zero. The man's licence was suspended and he was hit with four charges: Disobeying the speed limit, did drive under the influence of liquor, learning to drive must be properly supervised-motor vehicles other than motorbikes, and learner must not drive motor vehicle unless L plates displayed and clearly legible. He's due to face Cairns Magistrates Court on July 8. The Bruce Highway, which stretches from Cairns to Brisbane, is home to all of the state's top five crash sites. It's ranked third in Australia's most crash-prone roads. Earlier this month, another L-plater was hit with a whopping $1,775 in fines and 22 demerit points after getting pulled over for speeding on the Hume Highway near Penrose in NSW. The male driver was caught driving 39km/h over the speed limit, while also using his phone and not displaying L-plates. The incident took place on the June long weekend, while double demerits were in force, leaving him automatically suspended from driving with a pending extension from NSW Transport. Police issue warning after four 'electrocuted' on funfair ride and three rushed to hospital
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has issued a warning after four people were 'electrocuted' on a funfair ride. Emergency services descended on a funfair in Wigan on Sunday, June 22, following reports of what the fire service described as a 'suspected electrocution' related to one of the rides at the busy funfair. Fire crews, police and paramedics were called to the Meadowbank Playing Fields, on Formby Avenue, during the Atherton Carnival, shortly before 3pm. Three were rushed to hospital for treatment, said the force. But police say the injuries are not thought to be serious. The rode was closed to the public while emergency services worked on the incident, and police said that there is 'nothing to suggest risk with any of the other attractions'. However, an inspector has warned that if anyone else has been at the funfair and has felt unwell, they should seek medical attention urgently. A force spokesperson said: "At around 2.30pm yesterday (22/06/25), officers attended a funfair on Formby Avenue, after four people reported injuries consistent with an electric shock from a ride. "Three of those individuals were taken to hospital for treatment, however the injuries are not thought to be serious. "The ride was closed to the public and a scene was established whilst emergency services dealt with the incident. There is currently nothing to suggest risk with any of the other attractions at the funfair." Inspector Neil Anson added: 'We worked closely with other emergency responders and the event's organisers to ensure everyone attending the funfair was safe and cared for.
