Indiana Fever Make Exciting Player Announcement on Tuesday
Excitement around the Indiana Fever is off the charts heading into the 2025 WNBA season, with fans flooding Gainbridge Fieldhouse to catch the team live.
That was evident last weekend, when 12,461 fans showed up on Saturday, followed by a sold-out crowd of 14,998 in Iowa City for an exhibition game against the Brazil National Team.

While Caitlin Clark is a big reason for the buzz, the rest of the roster is starting to earn admiration from fans across Indiana and the country. Two rookies are quickly becoming fan favorites — and they'll be meeting local supporters this week.
The Fever made an announcement Tuesday via social media:
"come out to @7BrewCoffee at 3710 S East St. tomorrow to meet rookies Makayla Timpson and Yvonne Ejim!"
The event will be held at 7 Brew, a drive-thru coffee shop in downtown Indianapolis. The rookies will be there for an hour, giving fans a chance to meet them in person before the home opener on May 17.

Makayla Timpson, a second-round pick out of Florida State, earned All-ACC First Team honors twice during her collegiate career. She holds the school record for career double-doubles with 47.

Yvonne Ejim, a 6-foot forward from Canada, played at Gonzaga and was selected by the Fever in the third round. In 2024, she was named the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year and was a two-time West Coast Conference Player of the Year.
These two will join a talented core that includes Clark, Aliyah Boston, Sophie Cunningham, Lexie Hull and others as Indiana looks to build on last year's 20-20 record. The Fever reached the postseason for the first time since 2016 but were eliminated in two games by Connecticut.
As mentioned earlier, the Fever start their regular season action on May 17. That game will feature a visit from Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky.

'Regardless of who was in or out, [Sunday] was an opportunity for us to be better and I thought we played really hard compared to the last few games,' Brondello said. They were down by one at halftime and trailed by as many as 10 in the fourth quarter. New York trimmed the deficit to three twice in the final 2:20 but never mustered a big enough run to take the game over. It was the Liberty's third loss in four games, dropping them to 10-3. After the game, the Liberty weren't nearly as dejected as they were after Thursday's loss against the Mercury. 'We have to kind of embrace the adversity a little bit, whether it's we're down players or things happen in the middle of the game.' Advertisement Stewart finished with 18 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Marine Johannès — who made her first seven shots — added 17 points and five rebounds. And Rebekah Gardner posted a season-high 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Meanwhile, Nneka Ogwumike had a game-high 26 points for Seattle. With the Liberty down to nine active players, Brondello had to get creative with the lineups. Gardner got her first start with the Liberty. Johannès started in place of Ionescu and Nyara Sabally for Jonquel Jones. Some of the miscues were because of the lineup changes. The Liberty also would've probably guarded Skylar Diggins differently had LeonieFiebich been here. Diggins had 20 points and six assists. Advertisement Stewart thinks this is a good time to experiment. 'Getting a good gel with the group that we have right now is important for later because you never know what's going to happen, especially as you make playoff pushes or things like that,' she said. 'This is a great opportunity for everyone to kind of gain experience and bigger roles and putting more on the plate.' The Liberty are 'hopeful' that Ionescu will be available for Wednesday's game at Golden State. Brondello described Ionescu's status as 'day to day.' Overall, though, Brondello isn't mad about how the Liberty played Sunday. 'We know we're down three starters,' she said. 'We're the underdogs at the moment but we competed and we nearly had the chance to win.' Brondello can live with that.

Advertisement Just a couple of months ago, the school won the women's NCAA championship behind the sensational play of Paige Bueckers and the support of fellow guard Azzi Fudd. Fudd was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament after scoring 25 points in the title game versus South Carolina. Bueckers is now a rookie in the WNBA with the Dallas Wings, and on Sunday, she had 20 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Unfortunately for her and her team, it wasn't enough, as Dallas lost in overtime to the Washington Mystics, 91-88. But she did have some time to spend with Fudd, her beloved fellow Husky. Bueckers made her name with the Huskies and averaged 19.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists a game while shooting a very high percentage, both from the field and from 3-point range. She missed all of the 2022-23 season with a torn ACL, but she returned and seemingly got better afterward. Advertisement She won the Nancy Lieberman Award twice and has been described as a generational talent.
