Hoda Kotb teases post-'Today' project with Joanna Gaines of 'Fixer Upper'

USA Today05-02-2025

Hoda Kotb is making space for something new with none other than Joanna Gaines.
The former "Today" show host took to Instagram to post a carousel with the Magnolia founder, who found fame renovating homes alongside husband Chip Gaines in the HGTV hit "Fixer Upper." The Gaines now have their own network, The Magnolia Network. In Kotb's photos, cameramen seemed to be following the pair and them embracing with a hug.
"Remember i was talking about repotting—- gotta take first steps….We have something fun cooking! Come along on the great adventure…..Stay tuned," the caption read.
Kotb, who left "Today" on Jan. 10, teased other projects ahead of her exit from the NBC morning show, but will continue her long partnership with the network, including hosting duties of her popular podcast "Making Space."
USA TODAY reached out to reps for Kotb for comment.

Hoda Kotb, Norah O'Donnell sign off:'God-like days' are over for big name anchors
Kotb, who anchored the main "Today" program for six years and was an NBC staple for nearly two decades, marked her last show last month.
The show transformed into a Hoda-palooza as "Today" hosts Al Roker, Craig Melvin, Carson Daly, Savannah Guthrie and Jenna Bush Hager united to pay tribute to their colleague. They were joined by a cast of characters from Kotb's past and a star-studded lineup of special guests.
As Kotb bid an emotional farewell, the host's impact on the program and its fans came into view. Loyal watchers outside held up signs, the crew behind the cameras shared in the emotion and NBC peers expressed admiration at Kotb's on-camera evolution.
Kotb, who announced in September she would step down from her post teased her new chapter on a visit earlier this year to "The Kelly Clarkson Show."
"I am starting a wellness app and company that will involve retreats and a podcast," she told Clarkson. "This is something that when you leave you'll feel like, 'Oh my gosh, I feel transformed. I feel different.'"
The idea started a few years ago, she said, when she "got hooked" on the wellness space, trying out treatments that she thought at first seemed a little "woo-woo," but then noticed she was actually feeling better.
"We're in the building process," Kotb said, but revealed she expects the new project to launch in the spring.

Machine Gun Kelly makes rare red-carpet appearance with daughter Casie: See the photos

Machine Gun Kelly may be an award-winning musician, but fatherhood remains the top gig. The Grammy-nominated rap-rocker (real name: Colson Baker) stepped out with his eldest daughter, Casie Baker, for a rare red-carpet appearance at the 2025 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards on June 21. Kelly shares Casie, 15, with his ex Emma Cannon. He "definitely gives a lot of advice. He's more like a hype man, though," Casie told People magazine in an interview ahead of the ceremony, to which Kelly replied, "Yeah, I'm a cheerleader." The teen added that her rockstar dad encourages her to be herself. For their Kids' Choice Awards appearance, Casie was dolled up in a strapless bubblegum pink dress, while Kelly kept things sleek in an all-black romper and matching boots. Machine Gun Kelly reveals baby's name, gives shout-out to ex-fiancée Megan Fox Kelly has been busy in the fatherhood department as of late. The "My Ex's Best Friend" singer welcomed a daughter, Saga Blade Fox-Baker, in March with ex-fianceé Megan Fox. "Megan is in the no sleep club, for sure," Kelly, 35, told People. "Women are in the rougher trenches of the newborn process, but my specialty is music and laughs and whatever I can do to make her smile and kind of get introduced to the world with love." Earlier this week, Kelly revealed the baby's name in a June 17 Instagram post, which included an adorable video of the singer serenading the infant with a ukulele. Casie gushed that becoming an older sister has been "fun," adding, "It's really just so cute. I love her so much." 10 bingeable memoirs to check out: Celebrities tell all about aging, marriage and Beyoncé Saga marks Kelly and Fox's first child after calling off their January 2022 engagement. In a March 2024 interview on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast, Fox declined to go into detail about their current relationship status. "I think that what I've learned from being in this relationship is that it's not for public consumption, so I think, as of now, I don't have a comment on the status of the relationship, per se," she said. "What I can say is: That is what I refer to as being my 'twin soul,' and there will always be a tether to him no matter what."

Ezra Miller has 'a lot of remorse' for past controversies, talks Hollywood comeback

After a shaky time in the spotlight, Ezra Miller isn't ready to sprint back to Hollywood. "The Flash" star, whose Hollywood ascent was derailed amid mounting legal issues, addressed their past controversies and future in the entertainment industry in an interview with Lo Speciale Giornale published June 19. Miller, 32, spoke to the Italian outlet shortly after attending the Cannes Film Festival in May for their first major red-carpet appearance since falling from grace. Miller said they appeared at the renowned film festival at the request of their friend, "Die My Love" director Lynne Ramsay, adding that their relationship with the movie industry is on "tentative grounds." "If you've been in the woods for three years, I do not recommend going straight to Cannes, where every photographer and every weirdo, every rich genocidal freak (will) be there, you know what I mean?" Miller said. "It's not an easy reentry." 10 bingeable memoirs to check out: Celebrities tell all about aging, marriage and Beyoncé Miller broke out on the big screen in 2012 with a role in the coming-of-age drama "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," later playing Credence Barebone in the Harry Potter "Fantastic Beasts" franchise (2016-2022) and superhero speedster Barry Allen in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" (2016) and "Justice League" (2017). But in 2022, a series of highly publicized scandals cast a shadow on Miller's rising star. The actor was arrested in Hawaii on a charge of disorderly conduct in March, followed by an arrest on suspicion of assault in April. A few months later, Miller was accused of grooming an 18-year-old activist by the teen's parents and also charged with felony burglary in a separate incident in Vermont (Miller pleaded not guilty). "Not that I don't hold a lot of remorse and lamentation for a lot of things that I did and for a lot of things that happened in that time, but I'm really, really grateful for the lessons that came with that abyss," Miller reflected. Ezra Miller's past legal troubles: What to know about actor's controversies In an August 2022 statement to USA TODAY, Miller said they were undergoing treatment for "complex mental health issues" following the string of criminal and abuse allegations brought against them: "I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life." "When we go through those crucibles, if we can survive, which was up in the air for me if I'm being real, we then have that capacity to see other people in their crucibles and just to reach towards them," Miller told Lo Speciale Giornale. "That grows more and more rarefied in our world, too. Like, the capacity to do that, the desire to do that, the willingness to do that." "The Flash" premiered in June 2023 and despite earning mixed reviews from critics, the DC superhero flick grossed $271.4 million worldwide. While Miller hasn't appeared in a major project since the film's release, the actor said they've been "writing a lot," including working with Ramsay on a movie that will "likely" be their first new release.
