Former 'Today' host Hoda Kotb had a heartfelt reunion when her ex-fiancé Joel Schiffman this weekend, when she welcomed the financier into her suburban home for a Father's Day celebration with their two daughters. The TV host-turned-wellness guru took to Instagram to share sweet images of her former partner enjoying a fun-filled day in and around her Bronxville property, proving that—despite their split—the duo are putting their past behind them in order to focus on co-parenting daughters Haley, 9, and Hope, 5. In one image, Schiffman, 67, could be seen grinning from ear-to-ear while sharing a sweet embrace with his kids inside 60-year-old Kotb's kitchen at her $2.9 million home, which she purchased in April 2024, shortly before she quit the 'Today' show. A second snap showed him strolling hand-in-hand with Hope through what appeared to be a local mall. Kotb, who stepped down from her on-screen role alongside in January, gushed about Schiffman in the caption, penning, 'A great father's day for a great dad! Happy Father's Day Joel!' Although Schiffman and Kotb once lived together in New York City with their kids, the mother of two made the decision in 2024 to move her children to the suburbs in a bid to give them more 'normality,' while it's thought her former partner remained in Manhattan. However, he made sure to take a break from the honking taxis and towering skyscrapers to make a trip to Bronxville, which is a mere 30-minute drive from Manhattan. Schiffman's journey upstate comes just weeks after Kotb revealed that her move had been motivated, at least in part, by her daughter Hope's Type 1 diabetes diagnosis. During a May 28 appearance on 'Today,' Kotb explained there was another reason behind her decision, conceding that she wanted to spend more time with her daughter, rather than worrying about her health constantly because she was away from her. 'As anyone with a child who has Type 1 [diabetes], especially a little kid, you're constantly watching, you're constantly monitoring, you're constantly checking, which is what I did all the time when I was [on the 'Today' show]. You're distracted,' she shared. 'You just get a priority check in your life. I can be here and sweating what's happening to Hope in the morning and in the night, or I can be there and feel relief that I can see.' Kotb first revealed that her younger daughter was struggling with a health issue in March 2023, when she explained that Hope had been hospitalized for an undisclosed condition. Less than two years later, Kotb decided to move her family to Bronxville, NY, where she purchased a stunning $2.9 million property just a short walk from her kids' school. Speaking to ahead of her last day on the show, Kotb opened up about her desire to embrace a new routine with her kids at the four-bedroom, five-bathroom, center-hall Colonial. She was excited to have a more 'normal' day-to-day regimen after years of early mornings, she explained. 'I'm just going to let us be a family with a normal rhythm of life. See what we become,' the on-air celebrity, who was replaced by Craig Melvin, said. 'I'm going to let [my daughters] take more trips and stay up a little later because part of the reason I put them to bed at that hour is because I've got to go to bed. I'm like, 'Goodnight! Everyone's going to bed.' They're like, 'It's 6:30!' I'm like, 'Yeah, lights out!'' Kotb said in August that she had a vision when it came to finding the perfect family home, revealing in an episode of 'Today' that she wanted to create a 'warm and cozy' environment where her children could relax and find sanctuary. 'It's all new,' she said of her move. 'New kids, new school, new things, new everything. And it's funny because all I could think of was that I wanted my house for the kids to feel warm and cozy and a place where they want to hang. And that's it.' She added in an interview with People: 'I want my kids to feel grass on their feet, and play in the yard, and ride bikes down the street, and run up and down the stairs.' In October, just a few months after her move, Kotb further shared how moving to the suburbs had helped Hope to overcome her severe health issues—albeit without disclosing what those issues were. 'We're in a place where Hope is thriving,' noted Kotb. 'She's improving, we're watching her, and I think as time goes on, we'll have a better handle on it, but we're already seeing great differences. 'I have people helping us out. I feel like she is finding steady footing.' Now, Kotb is focusing on her new wellness brand, Joy 101, which allows people to achieve more grounded and calming lifestyles. Craig Melvin Panics Over Hoda Kotb Run-In After 'Today' Exit: 'I Thought She Wanted It All Back'
Even five months into his time as a co-anchor on Today, Craig Melvin is watching his back. The 46-year-old journalist took over Hoda Kotb's news desk seat in January after Kotb made the decision to leave the Today show in favor of getting in more time with her daughters Haley, 8, and Hope, 6. "I saw Hoda yesterday and she was up on the fifth floor and she was getting ready to tape one of her podcasts and she came through the door,' Melvin shared on Today on June 11. Why was Melvin worried? The father of two admitted of Kotb, 'I thought she wanted it all back." Melvin's co-anchors Carson Daly, Savannah Guthrie, Jenna Bush Hager and Al Roker quickly reassured him that Kotb wasn't going to come back and take his new job. 'I think somebody needs a hug,' Roker quipped, standing up and embracing Melvin. 'You're good enough, and dog gone it, you're likable.' Guthrie, who shares the news desk with Melvin, added, 'You're the one we want. It's yours now, whether you like it or not.' 'No, I love it,' Melvin said, before jokingly adding, 'most days.' Daly had a bold suggestion, telling Melvin, 'You should put it in your next contract that you get to keep all your clothes and that Hoda's not allowed in the building anymore.' But Melvin quickly replied, 'No, no!' Ahead of taking over the role in January, Melvin admitted to PEOPLE that he was nervous yet excited. 'I'm anxious but at the same time, it's the first time I've been this excited about anything outside the day I got married and the birth of my two children,' Melvin previously told PEOPLE. 'I am beyond stoked.' Kotb told PEOPLE of Melvin, 'He is the natural perfect person. I told him, 'There's nothing to be worried about. You have all the things that you need.' ' Last month, Kotb opened up to PEOPLE about her difficult decision to leave the NBC morning show after 17 years. 'It's really cool to just realize that there's so much more to life,' she said. 'I wasn't able to bear witness to my kids' daily lives because of what I was doing. I got to see Haley sing 'What a Wonderful World' at 9:15 a.m. — I would have missed that. I used to think life was the big things, but it really is all the stuff that happens in between.' Kotb has also been grappling with her daughter Hope's type 1 diabetes diagnosis, an autoimmune disease that prevents the pancreas from making its own insulin, requiring vigilant blood sugar monitoring and frequent insulin injections. Hoda Kotb responds to rumors about replacing Kelly Clarkson on daytime TV
(NewsNation) — Hoda Kotb recently told one fan that she is a 'never-say-never person' when it comes to hosting a daytime talk show. During an episode of 'Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,' the 60-year-old former anchor of The Today Show was asked about Kelly Clarkson's talk show. 'I heard the rumors that you might be starting a daytime talk show. Is that something you would ever consider doing?' Tom Felton joins 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' on Broadway Kotb responded with, 'Are you talking about the Kelly Clarkson rumor?' She then said Clarkson is a 'class all by herself,' but she would never say never when it comes to a talk show. 'You don't know what life's gonna bring you. But, at this moment, I'm having such fun with the ride that I'm on,' she continued. On May 28, Kotb went on the Today Show to talk about her wellness venture called Joy 101. While there, her replacement, Craig Melvin, asked about the Clarkson rumors. She responded to the question, saying, 'Do y'all think — I want to ask y'all a real question — do you think if I ever came back to TV, do you know where the only place I would ever come back to is? Right here. This is the spot… Delete, not true.' Kotb left her position at the Today Show in January after being on the show for 17 years. She told PEOPLE that it was because her six-year-old daughter Hope was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2023. Clarkson had missed 10 tapings in a row of her show in March, and fans were baffled at the time. There were even reports circulating that she wanted to quit her daytime talk show. Fans were even more confused when she cited 'personal reasons' for being absent. A source at the time told NewsNation's Paula Froelich that Clarkson was out because her ex-husband was sick. 'Her ex-husband is sick and she took the kids to see him,' the source said. Brandon Blackstock was a music manager until recently, when he stopped working for the company his father founded, Starstruck Entertainment. The former couple has a 10-year-old daughter, River Rose, and a 9-year-old son, Remington Alexander, together. Hoda Kotb reveals top replacements for ‘Today,' addresses Kelly Clarkson rumors
NEW YORK — Hoda Kotb on Thursday revealed the people she thinks would be a perfect replacement for the hour of 'Today' she hosted with Jenna Bush Hager, while also addressing speculation she may be taking over Kelly Clarkson's daytime talk show. Since Kotb's departure in January, Bush Hager has continued to host the show's fourth hour with a series of celebrity guests, including Scarlett Johansson, Taraji P. Henson, Keke Palmer, Amy Poehler and Dwyane Wade. Appearing on Bravo's 'What What Happens Live With Andy Cohen,' Kotb shared her top 'contenders' to take up a more permanent position. 'Anybody would be like so lucky, but to me the contenders are ['Today' co-anchor] Savannah [Guthrie]. I think she would be great,' Kotb said. 'I think Justin Sylvester's amazing. Scarlett Johansson crushed it.' Kotb also praised comedian and podcaster Matt Rogers and 'Today' co-host Sheinelle Jones, who she acknowledged is 'going through a difficult time' following the recent death of Jones' husband, Uche Ojeh. But according to Kotb, the best fit for the show would ultimately be 'whoever clicks great with Jenna. I mean, that's the one.' During her appearance, Kotb also suggested there's no truth to the rumors she'll take over Clarkson's self-titled show, but admitted she'd 'never say never.' 'You don't know what life's gonna bring you,' she told a fan who asked about the possibility. 'At this moment, I'm having such fun with the ride that I'm on. But TV is my first love. So, as I say in life, you don't know.' The NBC mainstay announced in September that she would be leaving 'Today' after 17 years, including five as co-anchor. 'I realized that it was time for me to turn the page at 60, and to try something new,' Kotb said at the time. The decision was made in no small part so Kotb could spend more time with her two young daughters, Haley Joy, 9, and Hope Catherine, 5, whom she shares with ex-fiancé Joel Schiffman. By the end of the year, Kotb announced that fellow NBC veteran Craig Melvin would take over her role anchoring the 7-9 a.m. block alongside Guthrie.
