US stock futures rise as Trump gives time for diplomacy with Iran. Oil prices dip.
U.S. stock futures edge up after President Donald Trump said he's mulling whether to join Israel in its attack on Iran. He will decide within two weeks on striking Iran, according to White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt. He will give diplomacy some time, though Iran has said it won't negotiate with the U.S. unless Israel stops attacking. The only way to end the imposed war is to 'unconditionally stop' the enemy's aggression, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Friday in a post on X. Still, senior U.S. officials have been preparing for the possibility of a strike on Iran, with some pointing to potential plans for a weekend strike, according to Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter. The elevated tensions initially pushed oil prices up and stocks lower. But by 8 a.m. ET, stock futures and oil prices reversed courses. Futures linked to the blue-chip Dow index rose 0.15%, or 63 points, to 42,575; broad S&P 500 futures added 0.14%, or 8.5 points, to 6,042.75; and tech-heavy Nasdaq futures gained 0.16%, or 35.75 points, to21,981.00. Trump vs Powell (again) Trump again criticized Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell after the Federal Reserve rates unchanged this week. Trump labeled Powell as 'destructive' in a social media post and said Powell is costing the United States 'hundreds of billions of dollars' by leaving rates steady. The Boston Celtics can solve their big man depth problems with just one pick in the 2025 NBA draft. Or at least that is the position of some of the hosts of the CLNS Media "First to the Floor" podcast. On a recent episode of their show, Jake Issenberg, Ben Vallis, and Wayne Spooney took a closer look at a favorite center prospect option for Boston to take in the draft this summer, should he still be in the board when the Celtics are selecting with their Nos. 28 and 32 overall picks. The man in question is Stanford big man Maxime Raynaud, a 7-foot marksman from beyond the arc who is a force on the offensive end of the court. There are concerns about his defense at the NBA level, and he may not be available when Boston is on the clock, but trading up could also be a solution to his availability in the Celtics range. BREAKING: Oregon Ducks land commitment from 5-star S Jett Washington
The Oregon Ducks are officially on a recruiting hot streak. After landing 4-star wide receiver Messiah Hampton on Friday morning, Dan Lanning and his squad followed it up with a massive addition, getting a commitment from 5-star safety Jett Washington. Standing at 6-foot-5, 200 pounds, Washington is rated by 247Sports as the No. 18 player and No. 2 safety in the 2026 class. Washington is Oregon's second safety committed in the 2026 class, joining 4-star Xavier Lherisse. Washington was in Eugene last weekend for his official visit, and he had rave reviews after leaving Eugene. He was one of six 5-star players in town during the first weekend of June, joining the likes of S Joey O'Brien, EDGE Ricahed Wesley, WR Calvin Russell, CB Brandon Arrington, and LB Tyler Atkinson. Oregon had the No. 33-ranked class in the 2026 cycle before the addition of Washington, but they jumped up to No. 22 after adding the second 5-star recruit to their class. Need a break? PARIS — Beyoncé Knowles-Carter turned her first 'Cowboy Carter' concert in Paris into a very special occasion, bringing out a surprise guest and "Cowboy Carter" collaborator for the first time. The Grammy-winning singer kicked off her show on June 19 — Juneteenth — at Stade de France in Paris around 8:56 p.m local time. The show marked the first show at the stadium on her Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin' Circuit Tour . She is set to hit the stage again on June 21 and June 22. 'Paris, France, I have to say I'm very grateful to be on the stage. We have a very special show for y'all," Beyoncé said as she opened the show. During the show she brought out Miley Cyrus and the two women sang their hit 'II Most Wanted.' The crowd went wild as Cryus approached the stage. Need a break? Leona Maguire, four back at KPMG, still dealing with aftermath of tick bites at Erin Hills
FRISCO, Texas – Leona Maguire doesn't typically wear sun sleeves on the golf course. But, after suffering from several tick bites at the U.S. Women's Open at Erin Hills, the Irishwoman went on a round of doxycycline, and it has wreaked havoc on her skin. The medication is meant to reduce the chance of contracting Lyme disease, and she's just finished up the two-week treatment. She wore pants last week at the Meijer but couldn't bring herself to do it this week in steamy Texas. 'It's made my skin like tissue paper,' said Maguire, who has a particularly nasty blood blister on her right hand that she said looks like a pepperoni. Her twin sister Lisa, who recently graduated from dental school, dressed the wound twice during Round 1 of the KPMG Women's PGA Championship. Maguire opened with an even-par 72 at Fields Ranch East course to sit four strokes back of leader Jeeno Thitikul. After four consecutive missed cuts, Maguire has found something with her driver after switching back to last year's model. She also went back to her old putter — almost. Maguire's Ping rep has always had a backup putter at his house that was identical to her longtime putter, and she asked him to bring it out to Texas this week. Need a break?
