SC grants interim relief to woman Army officer seeking permanent commission

New Delhi [India], June 16 (ANI): The Supreme Court granted interim relief on Monday to Wing Commander Kavita Bhatti, a woman Army officer who had moved a plea seeking a permanent commission in the armed forces.
A bench of Justices Ujjwal Bhuyan and Manmohan directed the Union Government not to relieve the officer from service, and allowed her to continue her services until the next hearing.
'It is directed that Wing Commander Bhatti shall not be relieved and shall be allowed to continue till the next day of hearing', the Court said in its order.
The Court also issued notice to the Centre, seeking its response to Bhatti's plea and posted the matter to for hearing on August 6.
On that day, the top court is slated to hear a batch of pleas filed by several women officers in the Army, all seeking permanent commission in their force.
The Court had on May 9, this year, directed the Central government not to relieve a group of Army officers from service, in a plea challenging the premature termination of a woman Army officer.
Earlier, on May 9, the SC was of the view that it will hear the matter pertaining to permanent commission for women in the Army's on merits and in detail on a later date.
Thus, it had decided that the matter be heard on August 6 and 7 from 11 am.
In line with its earlier stance, the Court on Monday extended the same relief to Wing Commander Bhatti. (ANI)

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also joined the International Day of Yoga and performed Yoga in Gorakhpur on Saturday. While addressing the public, Yogi Adityanath said, 'Today, Yoga Day is being celebrated in Gorakhpur. The local minister, MPs, other public representatives, and all the brothers and sisters here are participating. I welcome everyone. This program is happening not just here, but across the country and the world. In Andhra Pradesh's Visakhapatnam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is spreading the message of yoga. On the occasion of the 11th International Yoga Day, I send my warm wishes to everyone.' Yogi said that yoga builds spiritual strength and is India's gift to the world. "Parliament must speak in collective voice": RJD's Manoj Jha on Pakistan nominating US President Donald Trump for Nobel peace prize
New Delhi [India], June 21 (ANI): RJD MP Manoj Kumar Jha on Saturday stated that Parliament must speak in a collective voice on the Pakistani government nominating US President Donald Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. Jha further stated that Rajnath Singh was one of the veteran leaders who did not harbour enmity towards the Opposition, unlike the newer ones. 'We've even heard that a neighbouring country is officially endorsing him (US President) and pushing for the Nobel Prize... From that perspective, Parliament must speak in one collective voice, and we need to see what Rajnath Singh can do to make that happen. We believe that Rajnath Singh is one of those veteran leaders who do not harbour enmity towards the Opposition, unlike the newer ones. Come to Parliament and send a unified message to the American President under the leadership of the Prime Minister,' Jha told ANI. 'The way our civilians were killed -- that collective pain has now become the nation's pain. However, many questions remain. Donald Trump has made his statement for the 17th time, and the MEA bureaucracy cannot counter that. There should be a session of Parliament,' he further stated. 'I won't get a Nobel Peace Prize for stopping the War between India and Pakistan, I won't get a Nobel Peace Prize for stopping the War between Serbia and Kosovo, I won't get a Nobel Peace Prize for keeping Peace between Egypt and Ethiopia (A massive Ethiopian built dam, stupidly financed by the United States of America, substantially reduces the water flowing into The Nile River), and I won't get a Nobel Peace Prize for doing the Abraham Accords in the Middle East which, if all goes well, will be loaded to the brim with additional Countries signing on, and will unify the Middle East for the first time in 'The Ages!' No, I won't get a Nobel Peace Prize, no matter what I do, including Russia/Ukraine, and Israel/Iran, whatever those outcomes may be, but the people know, and that's all that matters to me,' he said in a post on Truth Social.
