Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India] June 21 (ANI): On the occasion of International Yoga Day 2025, Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for launching the Yoga Sangam theme, which aims to unite people from diverse backgrounds. She also appreciated the Ministry of Ayush for introducing Yoga Samavesh, an initiative that brings together different groups.
'I'd like to applaud Prime Minister Modi for launching the theme of Yoga Sangam, which unites people from all backgrounds. The Ministry of Ayush has also introduced the Yoga Samavesh this year, which brings different groups together. International Yoga Day marks a global celebration worldwide with a theme of Yoga for One Earth and One Health...', Shaina NC told ANI on Saturday.
The 11th International Day of Yoga saw widespread participation across states. The theme for this year is 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health,' which echoes India's vision of global wellness and reflects the integrated vision of well-being. It emphasises the interconnectedness of human and planetary health, drawing from the Indian ethos of 'Sarve Santu Niramaya' (May all be free from disease).
Shaina attacked Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, stating that while Eknath Shinde's faction of Shiv Sena practices what they preach, Shiv Sena (UBT) follows the Congress party. She alleged that Uddhav Thackeray left the foundational ideology of the party, which was given by Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray.
Shaina took a jibe at Uddhav Thackeray, stating that he should think whether his surname is Gandhi, for allegedly aligning with Rahul Gandhi's ideology.
'Shiv Sena (UBT) continues to comment over Eknath Shinde - but they don't realise what Eknath Shinde says, he does. On the other hand, it's Shiv Sena (UBT), and what they say is the thought of Congress. They left their foundational ideology, which Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray gave... Uddhav Thackeray should think that his name is Uddhav Thackeray or Uddhav Gandhi, as he is pushing the ideology of Rahul Gandhi...', Shaina NC told ANI
Earlier, marking International Yoga Day with a political twist, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde took a veiled jab at his rivals, referring to his 2022 rebellion as the 'bada Yoga' (big yoga) that changed the course of Maharashtra's politics.
Highlighting the day his faction split from the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, Shinde quipped that June 21 marked the beginning of a 'marathon yoga' session that, in his words, brought political stability and development to the state.'
'21 taarikh ko hi humne bada Yoga kiya tha,'' Shinde quipped, referring to the dramatic split in Shiv Sena that toppled Uddhav Thackeray's government. Speaking to ANI, Eknath Shinde said, ''21 taarikh ko hi humne bada Yoga kiya tha (splitting of Shiv Sena into two factions), wo marathon Yoga tha'. That Yoga began in Mumbai, and because of that, on June 21, Maharashtra has changed a lot; we are seeing development here. Our government has been working for the people. Devendra Fadnavis and I are working in this direction under the guidance of PM Modi and also Union Home Minister Amit Shah.'
The party founded by Bal Thackeray, known as Shiv Sena (UBT), split in June 2022 when Eknath Shinde rebelled, leading to the fall of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government headed by Uddhav Thackeray. Since then, the two factions have been locked in a bitter battle. (ANI)

After evacuation from Iran, Indians express relief; 827 brought back so far

The Indian government's Operation Sindhu has successfully evacuated 827 Indian nationals from conflict-hit Iran, with the latest flight landing in New Delhi on Saturday. The evacuees, including students and pilgrims, shared their experiences of the tense situation in Iran and praised the efforts of the Indian embassy and government. The evacuation flight from Mashhad, carried 310 Indian nationals, who were safely brought back to the country under Operation Sindhu. Sharing the images of the evacuation, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal wrote on X, "Another evacuation flight from Mashhad landed in New Delhi at 1630 hrs on 21 June with 310 Indian nationals from Iran. With this, a total of 827 Indians have been evacuated." Nadeem Asgar, an evacuee, told ANI, "I am thankful to my nation for keeping us safe there and bringing us back safely. As soon as the situation went south, we were evacuated by the embassy. I am very thankful to the Indian government." Farzana Abdi echoed similar sentiments, "We are coming back from Iran. There was a lot of fighting and missiles there. The Indian embassy helped us a lot and brought us here. We are very happy to be back in India. India is the best." Riyazul Hasan described the dire situation in Iran, "The situation is not good there. We saw from our hotel window that the missiles were coming, which were being intercepted mid-air. We are relieved to be back here. We came through the embassy. We thank PM Modi." Fatima expressed her gratitude to the Prime Minister, "I am very grateful to PM Modi. Now I feel at peace after coming back to my country. Being back in your homeland is a matter of great joy." Almas Rizvi praised the Indian embassy's support, "We were given accommodation in a good hotel and given lunch, dinner, everything, on time. It feels good to be back in our country. The Indian embassy helped us a lot. The Indian government took good care of us and didn't even let us feel we were living in a war-like situation." Daniya shared her relief, "I am delighted. We were terrified. The situation was very dire in Tehran. I thank the Indian embassy and Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the bottom of my heart because of which we could reach here safely." Earlier in the day, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi said, a centrifuge manufacturing workshop in the central Iranian city has been struck, making it the third nuclear-related facility targeted in Israeli attacks since June 13, Al Jazeera reported. "We know this facility well. There was no nuclear material at this site and therefore the attack on it will have no radiological consequences," Grossi said in a statement posted by the IAEA. On Friday, Grossi said the nuclear watchdog does not have information showing Iran is actively trying to build nuclear weapons. The Israeli military has already said that it's got many targets that it still has to hit, and the campaign has clearly broadened beyond the military, beyond top scientific advisers, and beyond missile launchers. So there's nothing really stopping Israel from carrying on until it's achieved its stated objectives. Well, that is, to stop Iran enriching uranium to produce a nuclear weapon, as per Al Jazeera. The Israeli military has warned Israelis that they should be prepared for a long campaign. According to Al Jazeera, from Iran, overnight we had about 40 drones fired, according to the Israeli military, one of those getting through the air defences. In all, there have been about 450 missiles fired since the start of this fighting. According to the Israelis, 450 ballistic missiles and 400-plus drones.

Hundreds join chief minister on Int'l Yoga Day in Jaisalmer

Jaipur/Jaisalmer: Despite bad weather, hundreds joined chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma at the state-level International Yoga Day programme on the sand dunes of Khuri, Jaisalmer, about 45 km from the city. Rain disrupted yoga programmes in many districts, including Bharatpur, Pali, Bhilwara, Udaipur, and Kota forcing venue changes in many places. In Chittorgarh, yoga practice lasted only about 15 minutes due to the downpour. At Jaipur's SMS Stadium, Governor Haribhau Bagde, Lok Sabha MP Manju Sharma, deputy CM Premchand Bairwa, BJP state president Madan Rathore, and several public representatives participated in the Yoga Day event. Deputy CM Diya Kumari performed yoga at a camp at the City Palace. Extending greetings to the people of the state on Yoga Day, CM Sharma said this year's Yoga Day theme, 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health', conveys the strong connection between individual and environmental health. As a result, Rajasthan ranks first in the country with approximately 2.25 lakh registrations for the Yoga Sangam programme. With the participation of 1.2 crore people, Rajasthan topped the country on the Yoga Connect Portal. It also achieved a milestone by conducting yoga sessions at over 1,30,000 locations. Sharma also said efforts are being made to bring Indus water to Rajasthan. "Plans are underway to stop the water going to Pakistan and bring the water of the Indus-Chenab to Rajasthan," he said. Sharma departed from the Khuri helipad in Jaisalmer for the Tanot Mata temple, where he offered prayers. He also paid tribute to martyrs at Vijay Stambh, following which, he interacted with soldiers. He then proceeded to Jaisalmer, where he participated in a public hearing programme at the Circuit House.
