Rylan's mum begged Celebrity Gogglebox editors to cut out remarks
Rylan Clark and his mum Linda have been fan favourites on Celebrity Gogglebox since they joined the Channel 4 show in 2019 - but there are some conversations they've asked to be left on the cutting room floor
Rylan Clark and his mum Linda have pleaded with the Celebrity Gogglebox editors to steer clear of airing certain discussions, worrying they might be "career-ending".
The popular pair made their comeback on Channel 4's beloved series last week, and they're in good company with celebrities like Vernon Kay and Paddy McGuinness sharing the sofa.
Previously speaking about their on-screen partnership, Rylan, 36, joked that the editors "must like" them, due to what viewers get to see of the pair on television, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Rylan eagerly agreed: "We're lucky that the editors clearly like us, because the stuff they've had to cut out is career-ending."
Linda chimed in with a further caution: "[I say] 'Don't you dare say what I just said'."
A chuckling Rylan remarked on their editorial requests: "We're like, 'Yeah, can we not use that, please'".
They've swiftly become one of the audience's top duos since joining Gogglebox in 2019, celebrated for their charming and witty rapport.
Rylan shared how the show was an ideal chance for his mum to work with him; as she had declined other offers due to her Crohn's disease, which limits her outings.
Chatting to Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary, Rylan explained: "Mum has got Crohn's [disease] as well, she doesn't really go out that much and things like that."
He added: "But, when Gogglebox came along and they asked me to do it, I said, 'I would love to do it with my mum'."
During their joint interview, he turned to his mum and said: "Because, you know, I think you came down to X Factor once didn't you, just one time.
"So when this was the case, she lives five minutes from me, so I was like, 'Mum look it's at my house, you'll feel comfortable'."
Linda added: "You feel like you're not on the telly, you just sit there."
Rylan previously disclosed that out of "hundreds" of work opportunities that have come their way, a travel show was also on the cards.
"It would be hilarious, but she's just not well enough to do it," he confessed to Daily Star.
"Gogglebox is enough for us. She feels comfortable doing that show because we're just sat in my kitchen."
According to the NHS, Crohn's disease is a chronic condition where part of the digestive system becomes inflamed.
There's presently no cure, but treatments exist that can help prevent or manage the symptoms effectively.
Although a travel show might be off the cards for Linda, audiences can still catch her appearances on Rylan's weekly BBC Radio 2 show and his YouTube series, Air Rylan.

Celebrity Gogglebox viewers criticise 'dire' Channel 4 show
The show sees celebrity pairings react to TV programmes that have aired during the prior week. This is in comparison to the regular version of Gogglebox, where a selection of different families and friends from around the UK do the same. Last night's episode (Friday, June 20) saw the celebrities offer their observations on shows such as Clarkson's Farm, Love Island, Coronation Street, Countdown and Tom Kerridge Secrets Of The Pub Kitchen. Some fans weren't particulatly happy watching last night's episode, comparing it negatively to the original version. One said: "Totally unfunny celebrities on #gogglebox. Just people watching telly just isn't the same as normal Gogglebox. Cant wait for normal families. The funny ones." Another shared: "Even though there are a few couples on Celebrity Gogglebox who are quite funny, it's not as good as the "normal" one." A third posted: "I love Gogglebox but Celebrity Gogglebox is just dire." However, some people were a bit more favourable to the episode, with some of the pairings getting plenty of praise. Joe Wilkinson in particular had a lot of compliments, with one saying: "Joe Wilkinson makes me laugh before he's even opened his mouth. He dosnt even try but is funny." Countdown star Susie Dent to bring new tour to Wrexham
The Dictionary Corner favourite from Channel 4's Countdown will bring her latest show, Word Perfect, to Wrexham's William Aston Hall on Saturday, August 23. The show promises a lively exploration of the quirks, histories, and hidden stories behind everyday words and phrases.
