The 36 year old TV and radio personality enjoys a night out at bars and clubs but hesitates to approach potential interests due to his public profile. In a candid chat with 67 year old psychotherapist Philippa Perry on his podcast 'Rylan: How to Be in Love', he shared: "I've genuinely been in a situation where I've been in a bar, and I've looked at someone across the way. "They've looked at me, I've looked at them, and I would never feel confident going up to someone because of my job. I think, 'Are they looking at me because I'm Rylan, or are they looking at me because they think, he's alright?" Since parting ways with his husband Dan Neal in 2021, the BBC Radio 2 presenter has experienced loneliness while living by himself for the first time ever, reports the Manchester Evening News. Rylan revealed: "For the past few years, I have been on my own, in the sense of living on my own, which is something I've never done in my entire life. But I have got to the point where I've got my 'SSB', my Secret Single Behaviour, where I might talk to the coffee machine in the morning and go, 'Of course you want me to empty the drip trays!'" Rylan Clark has candidly opened up about his personal quirks and love life post-divorce, revealing what he seeks in a partner. The TV personality, who split from his husband Dan, has been back on the dating scene, even embarking on blind dates in Italy with his mate Rob Rinder, 47, for their BBC Two series 'Rob and Rylan's Grand Tour'. In a frank admission, Rylan shared his unique outlook: "You know, it winds me up, but I will say it out loud. Some people might think I'm unwell. I'm not, it's my Secret Single Behaviour." He also disclosed the qualities he desires in a potential partner: "I want two things out of someone; one is that you make me laugh and don't make me cry. And the other one is when I walk into the house, or you walk into the house, you ask me or I ask you, 'How was your day?'". Fans can delve deeper into Rylan's thoughts on romance by tuning into his podcast 'Rylan: How to Be in Love', available on BBC Sounds and visually on BBC iPlayer.

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Rylan Clark declared 'that's exactly what I need' as he addressed his love life and relationships. Rylan, 36, has been open about his divorce from ex-husband Dan Neal in 2021. The pair had been married for six years but their relationship ended after Rylan admitted he had been unfaithful. Since then, Rylan says he has been 'on his own' and has been on 'two dates' in the past two years. The BBC Radio 2 star admits he now wants to find a man who will make him 'laugh' and won't make him cry. On his new podcast, How To Be in Love, Rylan asked psychotherapist and relationship expert Phillipa Perry what love is. Philippa, who is married to the artist Grayson Perry, replied: 'There's lots of different sorts of love. 'There's the love you have with your family, the love you have with your soldiers in arms, there's the love you have for a lover, erotic love, so I suspect you're quite interested in erotic love that then, perhaps, turns into something even deeper than that and it becomes a lifelong soulmate type of love.' (Image: BBC) Rylan responded: 'Absolutely, I think that's exactly what I need.' Rylan revealed he has had enough of dating apps and regularly finds himself falling into the trap of speaking to people and not taking it further. He added: 'Nowadays it's all digital, and I find myself falling into this trap of talking to people, never meeting them.' Phillipa reassured the star it offered 'good raw material'. Speculation in recent months has swirled that Rylan could pursue a relationship with Rob Rinder, after the pair hit it off filming their Grand Tour. The BAFTA-winning show saw the pair addressing their respective divorces as they travelled around Italy. Rylan described filming the show as 'like therapy' and admitted he 'wasn't fully over' his split when making the programme. Rylan said: 'It was the best therapy I needed, put it that way. I think the journey, and I hate that word in telly but its so true, when you watch our series, that journey from when we meet to sort of how raw especially I was at that time.' (Image: Rob Rinder X/Twitter) While he has declared his 'love' for Rob, the pair have kept their relationship platonic. During a previous episode of his podcast, he joked: 'We are like a married couple, we row all the time and don't have sex like a proper married couple. We might as well put a ring on it." Speaking to former Communards musician Richard Coles, Rylan added: 'I want to find the next love of my life. I've been married, I thought I'd found the love of my life, I hadn't." The former X Factor contestant has previously spoken of the difficulties of dating while in the public eye, revealing he feels as though Rylan is a persona. In a conversation with Stephen Fry, he said: 'One thing I'm finding really difficult when it comes down to dating is that people think I'm Rylan when, in honesty, I'm Ross." Opening up further, Ross, better known by his stage name Rylan, confessed: "I need to work out, 'Do you want to date Rylan and what Rylan can give you, or do you want to date the real me?'".

In a way it's been a bit of a gift.' 'I'm happy to have sex with someone and that's that, that's not a problem. But do I want more? Of course I want more. 'Am I going to enjoy myself on the way? Abso-f***ing-lutely.'

Rylan says Celebrity Gogglebox had to cut out 'career-ending' conversations'
Rylan Clark has revealed how Celebrity Gogglebox editors have had to cut potentially 'career-ending' conversations out of his appearances with mum Linda. The former X Factor contestant, 36, and his mother, 72, first appeared on the celebrity edition of the popular Channel 4 programme in 2019. Since then, they have become one of its most popular pairings due to their affectionate, humourous relationship – with many calling for them to have their own spin-off show. With series seven airing this month, Rylan and Linda join a line-up which also includes the likes of Dani and Danny Dyer, Martin and Roman Kemp, James and Clair Buckley, and Shaun Ryder and Bez. To celebrate, Rylan and Linda joined Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary on a very different sofa, to appear on This Morning. As they opened up about their Gogglebox appearances, Rylan shared how he and Linda often had to beg editors to leave out more risqué conversations. Of her son's acerbic wit, Linda said: 'When he mucks about, I go, 'Please don't put that bit in.'' 'We're lucky that the editors clearly like us, because the stuff they've had to cut out is career-ending,' Rylan agreed. '[I say] 'Don't you dare say what I just said,'' Linda revealed. 'We're like, 'Yeah, can we not use that, please',' the Big Brother's Bit on the Side host laughed. Earlier this month, fans celebrated Rylan and Linda's return to Celebrity Gogglebox, with RebelDiamond writing on X: 'I adore #Rylan & his mum!! 😂😂❤️' 'Rylan's mum cracks me up! 😂' exclaimed Samanth22356123. 'YESSS!!! Rylan n Linda back on gogglebox😍🥰' ChloeGunn1798 cheered. During their time on the show, audiences have particularly enjoyed Linda getting to grips with some raunchier material while a mortified Rylan looks on. One such incident in 2020 saw mother and son settle down to watch the 1992 erotic thriller Basic Instinct. As police detective Nick (Michael Douglas) inspected a crime scene in the film, Linda misheard one particularly raunchy line – leaving Rylan in stitches. 'Gum stains? Did he say gum stains?' asked a confused Linda after Nick was informed that there had been 'c** stains all over the sheets.' 'What did he say? Gum stains? What did he say?' In a fit of giggles, Rylan screamed: 'No! Shut up! Not gum…' To which she replied: 'Oh! Not 'c**' Did he say that? I thought he said gum.' Other fan favourite moments from the pair include a less X-rated incident from the Platinum Jubilee… in which Rylan was forced to explain that Paddington isn't a real bear. For anyone saying im horrible to mum please get a sense of humour, she got her sushi…. Also built her a house, whatever she asks for, and a new hedge trimmer this week….. she's good . Look after your mums, and also have a laugh with them x until next year x — R Y L A N (@Rylan) July 15, 2022 In 2022, Rylan hit back at claims that he was 'horrible' to his mum, defending a clip where he'd mocked her pronunciation of the word 'sushi' (or 'suchet,' as she says it). More Trending 'For anyone saying im horrible to mum please get a sense of humour, she got her sushi….' the Radio 2 host clapped back on X. Rylan's mum begged Celebrity Gogglebox editors to cut out remarks
Rylan Clark and his mum Linda have been fan favourites on Celebrity Gogglebox since they joined the Channel 4 show in 2019 - but there are some conversations they've asked to be left on the cutting room floor Rylan Clark and his mum Linda have pleaded with the Celebrity Gogglebox editors to steer clear of airing certain discussions, worrying they might be "career-ending". The popular pair made their comeback on Channel 4's beloved series last week, and they're in good company with celebrities like Vernon Kay and Paddy McGuinness sharing the sofa. Previously speaking about their on-screen partnership, Rylan, 36, joked that the editors "must like" them, due to what viewers get to see of the pair on television, reports the Manchester Evening News. Rylan eagerly agreed: "We're lucky that the editors clearly like us, because the stuff they've had to cut out is career-ending." Linda chimed in with a further caution: "[I say] 'Don't you dare say what I just said'." A chuckling Rylan remarked on their editorial requests: "We're like, 'Yeah, can we not use that, please'". They've swiftly become one of the audience's top duos since joining Gogglebox in 2019, celebrated for their charming and witty rapport. Rylan shared how the show was an ideal chance for his mum to work with him; as she had declined other offers due to her Crohn's disease, which limits her outings. Chatting to Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary, Rylan explained: "Mum has got Crohn's [disease] as well, she doesn't really go out that much and things like that." He added: "But, when Gogglebox came along and they asked me to do it, I said, 'I would love to do it with my mum'." During their joint interview, he turned to his mum and said: "Because, you know, I think you came down to X Factor once didn't you, just one time. "So when this was the case, she lives five minutes from me, so I was like, 'Mum look it's at my house, you'll feel comfortable'." Linda added: "You feel like you're not on the telly, you just sit there." Rylan previously disclosed that out of "hundreds" of work opportunities that have come their way, a travel show was also on the cards. "It would be hilarious, but she's just not well enough to do it," he confessed to Daily Star. "Gogglebox is enough for us. She feels comfortable doing that show because we're just sat in my kitchen." According to the NHS, Crohn's disease is a chronic condition where part of the digestive system becomes inflamed. There's presently no cure, but treatments exist that can help prevent or manage the symptoms effectively. Although a travel show might be off the cards for Linda, audiences can still catch her appearances on Rylan's weekly BBC Radio 2 show and his YouTube series, Air Rylan.
