, who passed civil engineering from Jadavpur University in 2012, was extensively browsing jihadi literature on both his laptop and phone and wanted to flee to Bangladesh.
Kabir, who was divorced last year, worked in Noida, where he lost his job five months ago.
A day before he murdered his parents at their Memari home, the parents urged his sister, Tamanna Rehman, a Howrah-based schoolteacher, and neighbours to put some sense into Kabir's mind and weed out extremist thoughts.
Investigators also learned that Kabir had a troubled past. Described as stubborn, short-tempered, and obstinate by those who knew him, he reportedly became increasingly involved in radical ideologies in recent months.
His parents repeatedly warned him to stay away from such activities, leading to escalating tensions at home.
Speaking to neighbours in Memari, it was learned that Kabir was married to a girl — a geography postgraduate — who did not support his dogmatic religious views. His wife's parents stayed in Dubai for work. The marriage fell apart within a year. Kabir took his divorce badly. According to some locals, this started affecting his work.

"Around five months ago, his father went to Noida and brought him back home after he lost his job," a local said.
Kabir, who was arrested on Wednesday for brutally murdering his elderly parents in Memari and attacking four teachers in a Bongaon orphanage, was remanded in police custody for three days by a Bongaon court. Special public prosecutor Samir Das told the court that police needed time to investigate Kabir's "extremist links".
Kabir repeatedly said that he would go to "jannat". He also claimed that his parents mistreated the poor, which is against Islam. However, police said, prima facie, his deep resentment against his parents was due to their repeated attempts to reform him. Kabir also started to believe his parents were not following the faith.
Investigators said he chose the Hafizia Kharizia Orphanage Madrasa for its proximity to the Indo-Bangladesh border, which is only six kilometres away.
Police discovered that Kabir asked for directions to the India-Bangladesh border after arriving at Bongaon station, indicating a possible plan to escape into Bangladesh after the attack.
According to cops, the knife he used to murder his parents and then attack the teachers in the Bongaon madrasa was purchased from an e-commerce platform. On Tuesday, locals claimed he was seen moving around with the knife. East Burdwan SP Sayak Das did not immediately comment on the ongoing probe. "After questioning Kabir, we will be able to know about certain things. Police are collecting inputs from different sources.
During interrogation, such details will be verified," he said.

Police have recovered Thrijin's Aadhaar card, bank documents, journalist ID card, his father Rajan's Aadhaar, and both the passport and Aadhaar card of Lola Kayumova. Justice Saurabh Banerjee was hearing a suit filed by the popular chain Domino's Pizza, a Delaware-based corporation, seeking an ad interim injunction on 15 entities from using deceptively similar marks, such as "Domnic's Pizza, Dominic Pizza, Dominic's Pizza, Domnik Pizza and Daminic Pizza". On May 28, the court in its order said, "It is prima facie evident that the marks of the defendants (15 entities) are deceptively similar and phonetically identical to the plaintiff no 1 (Domino's intellectual property (IP) holder corporation), erstwhile trade name Dominick's Pizza." Gangster wanted for couple's murder killed in Firozabad police encounter
In Firozabad, a notorious gangster named Raju Khan, wanted for murder and robbery, was killed in an encounter with the police early Friday. SSP Saurabh Dixit reported that Khan opened fire on officers after being cornered, leading to retaliatory fire. AGRA: A notorious gangster, wanted in murder and robbery cases, was killed in an encounter with the police in the Firozabad district in the early hours of Friday. Police said the encounter happened at a secluded place under the jurisdiction of Shikohabad Police Station, following which the accused, Raju Khan , was taken to the community health centre in Shikohabad, where he was declared dead by the doctors. SSP Firozabad Saurabh Dixit told TOI that police received an alert from an informer that Khan, wanted in murder and robbery cases, was in the area. "Police surrounded the criminal near Nova Factory and asked him to surrender, but he started firing indiscriminately at the cops. In the retaliatory fire, Khan got injured and died during treatment. We have alerted the NHRC about the incident and requested DM Firozabad to launch a probe into it," SSP Dixit said. Sharing details about Khan's criminal record, Dixit further added that he was wanted in as many as five cases of murder, loot, and attempt to murder. "On the intervening night of March 4 and 5, Khan looted and killed Munna Lal Yadav and his wife Mithlesh Yadav (both senior citizens) in Bansi Nagar of Shikohabad. Khan used to target elderly people, and he was currently living in Agra. He would travel from Agra to commit the crimes, police said, adding that he was identified after monitoring footage from 200 CCTV cameras. DIG Agra had announced a reward of Rs 50,000, and the SSP had announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for Raju Khan's arrest. After the incident, an illegal .32-bore firearm, eight live bullets, and 12 bullet shells were recovered from his possession, police said. As per Uttar Pradesh Police data, in the last eight years, the state reported 14,741 encounters, leading to the arrest of 30,293 criminals, while 234 criminals were gunned down.
