Temperatures in parts of the UAE passed 50 degrees on Friday, as the country continues to sizzle ahead of Summer.
The hottest temperatures in the UAE were recorded at Sweihan in Al Ain, where thermometers recorded a high of 50.1°C, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
The five highest temperatures in the country on Friday, June 13 were: Sweihan: 50.1°C at 12.30pm
UAE University: 48.8°C at 1pm
Al Qattara: 48.6°C at 2.45pm
Hamim: 48.4°C at 2pm
Raknah: 48.4°C at 1.15pm

Hajj bids farewell to summer heat for next 25 years
TDT | agencies This year's Hajj not only concluded a sacred spiritual journey for millions but also marked the final chapter of the pilgrimage's long association with searing summer temperatures. According to Hussein Al-Qahtani, spokesperson for Saudi Arabia's National Center for Meteorology (NCM), Hajj will not return to the summer season for another 25 years. In the meantime, the next eight pilgrimages will occur in the spring, followed by eight in winter and several more in autumn, as the Islamic lunar calendar gradually shifts the dates earlier each year. 'This natural cycle offers pilgrims a rare opportunity to perform Hajj in much cooler and more comfortable conditions for the foreseeable future,' Al-Qahtani explained. This year, temperatures reached 42°C (108°F) — significantly lower than the dangerous 51.8°C (125°F) recorded in 2024, which severely affected pilgrims, especially those without permits. That year, more than 1.8 million Muslims participated, with quotas distributed by country and assigned through a lottery system.

UAE Weather: Fog Alert in Abu Dhabi
Motorists driving across the UAE roads should be extra cautious today. The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has issued yellow red alert due to fog. Dense fog is expected in some areas of Abu Dhabi, till 9.00am. The weather bureau has reported fog over Liwa,Habshan, Asab, and Nahil in Abu Dhabi, in the early morning today. In a message posted on X, Abu Dhabi Police called on motorists to exercise caution on the roads due to low visibility caused by fog. The NCM forecasts a generally fair day ahead, though there's a possibility of convective cloud formations developing in the eastern and northern regions, which may bring periods of rainfall. Temperatures are expected to shift slightly upward, creating a warm atmosphere. Specifically, coastal and island areas will experience temperatures ranging from a sweltering 39°C to a more temperate 36°C, while internal regions will see hotter conditions, with temperatures soaring between 44°C and 39°C. In contrast, the mountainous areas will be cooler, with temperatures fluctuating from 33°C down to 26°C. As night falls and into Tuesday morning, humidity levels will rise, increasing the likelihood of fog and mist forming in some coastal and internal regions, particularly in the western areas. Forecasts indicate that winds will range from light to moderate, with occasional gusts that could raise dust and sand levels. Additionally, cloud cover is expected to shift throughout the day.
